Hi, how would you verify that they are erased? I kind of assumed they were erased because the eBay listing of course said they had been erased and pins straightened etc. but I probably should have run them through the UV eraser first I suppose. I will know shortly since this first batch is almost done.

Received my programmer and UV eraser today. My first attempt didn't go so well. After I burned the 3 ROMs and configured the DIP switches and plugged her in, I was greeted with just the blue screen with the cursor hanging, not the usual memo pad screen. I took the stock ROMs from a good working OS board and placed them on my RAMROD, set the switches for stock OS and it worked fine. I'm currently running the 3 EPROMS through the UV eraser. Will try again when they are done. Here is a question, if you get a write fail, can you run the attempt again? Or is it only good for one time without erasing again?

It actually made it through customs in the US rather quickly. It's "Out for Delivery" today!

Thanks. I'm hoping it arrives intact as well! I asked MCUmall in Canada if they can get a refund for shipping since it has taken a lot longer than it was supposed to. They said they will call Canada Post, but I doubt they will get one. Canada Post is government owned as well I believe. Oh well, lesson learned I suppose.

It finally updated on the Canada side. It shows it's at "USORDA" now which may be some sorting facility in Chicago. USPS still shows no change though. I really hate using the regular postal services. What's bad is that I paid about $32 to get it here in 3 or 4 days Update: Well, USPS finally updated and they show delivery on August 31st.

I think my GQ-4X shipment is lost in the mail Was supposed to be here in 3 or 4 days with "Xpresspost USA" and it has been 9 with no tracking updates.

Looks like the Kickstarter campaign has approval to use the name "Amiga" on the cases now. That is very cool! I think I've seen that Atari collection before I love that period desk too.

I'm also a CMB .prg studio user! It's a great piece of software. I would encourage anyone who uses it to send a few bucks to Arthur if you can. We need to keep him motivated to work on it My attempts at programming are usually done in CBM .prg studio and tested via C64 Forever (VICE). Then I will send it to my real C64 for further testing and use. I try to minimize the actual time my old hardware is running. Now and then it's fun to use TMP on the real 64 though! I have both the 1541 Ultimate 2 and the Turbo Chameleon 64. They are both great devices!

I've ordered all the parts I need. I can't wait to finally be able to make my own eproms. I went with the GQ-4X with external power adapter. I purchased the miniPro (first) from Amazon, but then returned it because it doesn't do the 25 vpp needed for the 2716 eprom. I'll post back after I've tried out the roms listed in this thread. Hopefully have some good news to report for the next person.

No, not inside the GBS-8220. They are just bare boards as well. I actually have the GBS-8200. It's like the 8220, but with only 1 VGA output. The dimensions are about 4.5" x 4.5" and the wires are about 20" long (of course you could shorten them). Thanks for the update RobertB. I'm not a fan of exposed boards and wires all over the place (and already have 2 of the other Video DAC model), but I'll probably pick up 2 of these. I like to have options if I need them and would like to support people who make these types of things possible! Wow, fantastic! Really appreciate the effort. I mostly use the 800 (not XL) so for me this will be great. I still need to get my eprom programmer and some eproms before I can take the next step though.

I was doing some further reading on the RAMROD and Fastchip and I re-read this post: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/182682-details-of-dual-os-newell-ramrod-board/?p=2302219 This is why I wanted an original Fastchip, if possible. Of course I don't really *need* the Fastchip. I probably will just try the 2 OSN ROMS and the Omnimon and use a stock floating point ROM. Overall I'm just trying to find a good reason to use this RAMROD MMOS I purchased. Otherwise, it's no better than a stock OS board and wasted money

Thanks. OK. I watched the video there from the "EEVblog" guy Dave I also watched a video on YouTube for the GQ-4X. So in short, the software with the programmer assists you with all the questions I had about adapters, voltages etc.. The particular video on the GQ-4X for instance will tell/show you if you need an adapter, what type, where to place it on the ZIF socket etc.. (for anyone else new to eprom programming reading this).

Thanks for the information. I didn't really want to get one at all, because I'm sure I'll only use it a few times to get the ROMs I'm looking for. How do you know what voltage you'll need anyway? The eproms I see on eBay just mention their type, don't see anything about voltage really. What about how to place the eprom into the programmer? The Atari ROMs are 24 pin. These things have 40 pins that I can see.

Larry, the documentation I have on the board state: 4K eprom 2732 style pinout, 350 ns max access time. 2K eprom 2716 style pinout, 350 ns max access time. I know you can pull out your OS ROMs and floating point ROM from a stock OS board and use them in the RAMROD board. There are some dip settings you have to change though if you are using a stock OS ROM or the OSN. I'm going to attempt to make my own OSN ROMs and floating point ROM (Fastchip). Trying to choose an appropriate eprom burner and eproms now.

I agree, even though I mainly use hard disk emulators like the FreHD or MISE for my Model1/4 it is cool to be able to use a real floppy still!

Actually, here is the thread that lists the OSN ROM images. If someone wants to make a few extra bucks and create the 2 working ROMs I can use, I would be extremely grateful.
