  1. The technique reminds me of "Winter Gold" for the SNES using the FX chip...
  2. I always liked the draw distance for "Checkered Flag" despite the bad game play... would love make good use of that engine; perhaps use "Cybermorph" physics to make an anti-gravity racer; something unique... just a thought.
  3. That effort wind up becoming "Commander Keen" or something didn't it...? ID wanted to ride the "Super Mario 3" gravy train, which was the biggest selling game of that time period, but Nintendo was having non of that... That money pot was theirs and theirs only; they (Nintendo) had no interest in sharing it with no one.
  4. I've always liked the fractal demo on this game... remember reading somewhere that both the GPU and DSP were used to pull off realtime "Fractal Mandelbrot"; It moves very smoothly and reasonably fast.
  5. It's a long story... let's just sometimes, all isn't always well in the Atari community... some people have to go their separate ways for their own good.
  6. The Object Processor supports transparency thus can do similar blending effects...
  7. "Knuckle Bash" was my favorite... I used to play this one at a pizza parlor on weekends back in the day. I actually thought it was a real Atari game until years later... Great memories with this one. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9GyyFKKa9_w
  8. True on most of what you've said except for the 900+ part... tried bare some consistency on most my post... you can at least give me some credit for that. 🙂 Well... that's why I mentioned experimenting with voxels in response Saron's post... it's also why I mentioned looking at things differently so that my ideas doesn't get lost in the thick of all of this information I run into that tends to throw things off like this topic for example. And you're right most of those old workstations only 20fps if that... on the flip side I've considered the as a 2D monster that handles 2D exceptionally well thus I believe is what will carry the day in faking 3D using 2D methods to achieve that... hopefully something different than what Sega did for the Saturn; something custom to the Atari Jaguar's strengths. Was thinking about what Saron said about blabbing my ideas and keeping it to myself and he's probably right; the only is I've already done and this topic I made a couple of post not thinking it would skew like it did, but knowing CJ and guess I should expect nothing less... he's also have been very consistent.
  9. I only made two post originally... TWO... it turned into all of this... go figure. I never intended for things to skew like this.
  10. I took a whole course in CAD using both AutoCAD and Rhino 3D (a spline and nurb based program )... most of 3D modeling in the very early 80s were mostly spline and nurb based due to their simplicity of rendering on limited technology, most of them using Motorola 68000 based graphic workstations controlling non-DSP... not delusional, but if any of you still want to put more attention on my two little original, go right ahead.
  11. I have to look at things a little differently as I get a better understanding of how things really work... until I have that full understanding, I ride on the strength what I already know based on what's already been done in the past so that my ideas doesn't get lost in the thick of all of this knowledge I find myself running into. In the past I've posted all over the place; not so much today, which I think is a concern among others here and rightfully so. If my post doesn't make sense, charge it to my head and not my heart; I have no ill will or feelings for anyone here for real... I only made a couple of post before things got skewed by CJ... when someone takes pot shots at me, I respond back in kind... that's all; but sometimes I think he wants me to roll over and play dead or something while he does his thing here, which is fine except for the role over play dead part. Not to take away from his work here, I think what he's done here fantastic IMHO; I just won't be pushed around that's all. To be truthful I've been a fan of your work for a while and for what's it's worth I certainly never meant for things to skew the way it did... I just made a couple of simple statements and it got thrown all out of proportion for basically no good reason.
  12. Don't know... I was pretty crazy with ideas back in those days... an HTML app was not off of the table back then for me as I was awe so inspired. Didn't mean to throw the topic off course or was it thrown...? Can get a bit confusing when dealing with you CJ.
  13. Don't know how I missed this post... I know it was meant as an inside joke and I get it... I did take an HTML course and passed it with flying colors but that was over 12 years ago; was the last time I had a serious go in programming in that manner. 😑
  14. I've learned something alright, just not in the way you wanted it...
  15. You the crazy thing is that I only posted my ideas two times and the whole place goes nuts... I'm not the only one with a problem here, but carry on.
  16. Everything I've mentioned has already been done on the Jaguar on some level or another so what ridiculous claims are you talking about??? Well here's a claim for you... You simply don't want me to post my thoughts over here; it's that simple.
  17. Why are you so hostile...? I haven't insulted you or said anything that goes against your character; simply putting my ideas on the table in what should be considered a public forum. I don't bother you or mention your name in any way yet you make it a point to start some flame war. The only reason I'm responding the way I am is because you started with me first, but you'll be alright. 😛 smh
  18. Well the same can be said about the sniping that goes on here from time to time.
  19. Without a conceptual vision, a project parish... any good idea I'm passionate about is worth holding onto even if it takes a little time to get there... that is all.
  20. Well... looking at some of the examples from past Motorola based graphic workstations of old, the problem of slow or choppy 3D representation can possibly be mitigated with "snes mode 7" style affine transform on the JRISC part to compensate for the lack if frame rates using some procedural method, which the GPU should be able to do in abundance... at least that's one way, but I still need more understanding and how to make things work.
  21. Well... 🤔 not to throw the topic too far off... the kind of engine I have/had in mind is a bit of a hybrid so it differs a little bit just a landscape program where on one end there's low vector or spline/nurb based fast engine handled using the Motorola... On the other end of the theoretical hybrid are Voxels being utilized as a type of 3D surface (preferably smooth surface) perhaps using some predefined gridded height map for the JRISC to render in real-time... all of this is theoretical and experimental thus I was a little glad Saron brought it up... but at this point that's all it is "theoretical and experimental", which I don't really mind right now. 😉
  22. I want to use Voxels to create 3D surfaces or pseudo 3D surfaces more so than landscapes.
  23. The images on the website reminds me of the old "Vistapro Landscape" program... it had a feature where one could view a "fly through" scene using some low vector or fractal looking scene before you actually render the fly-through... I remember thinking to myself when dealing with the old program "wouldn't it be neat to have a polygon based 3D engine that rendered as fast as Voxels (high details) do without the overhead of a limited polygon count based 3D engine...?" But then again that's a bit of a dream engine on my part; it has been fun doing research on that sort of thing over the years. https://youtu.be/do1LWcPPtew
  24. I've always wanted to experiment with 3D splines, nerbs, and voxel for the Jag and combine the three... Voxels seems very cheap to shade very fast, can be used as sprites for very fast OP handling, and can be copied several times over in memory to fill a screen line very fast with emphasis on volumetrics instead of the slow process of drawing quads or triangles for 3D... all there's needed is a good strong spline and nerb based realtime 3D engine with the Motorola having better access main memory and cartridge for solid real 3D representation handling fast wireframe while the Jaguar do what it does best; handle 2D images efficiently... at least in theory, but all of that theory is a curiosity at this point with nothing to back everything I said.
