Expected MSRP $59.99 confirmed by Retro-bit =D.
At least 2 more JP devs to be added to the game line up.
-
Expect reasonable pricing =D

I can confirmed we are involved in this project
Should open the doors to homebrew developers. There a couple other large developers besides Capcom and Data East involved now. Should be the Atgames killer
I was instrumental about HDMI out and Regular sized 6 button Wired Genesis controllers. The Atgames ones suck.
I like that it has the 6 Button Genny model controllers... beyond that, yet ANOTHER emulation box...
Competition IS a good thing, theoretically it should lead to "perfect" emulation and then some with ehnancements, by one company trying to out do another, but is this ACTUALLY happening?
I ask, not sarcastically, because I've never used one and aren't really interested in them, but I CAN see their purpose, and no doubt one day these will be our best option for classic gaming..

It's funny.
I've paid thousands of dollars for stuff and services to people I have never met in person, just over the internet asking around and googling.
And every time was Russia and China; both places were you get scammed the most.
No problems, ever. Thank God.
Believe it or not, hiring people is a skill you got to learn before putting any sort of team together.

Stupidity obviously accounts for a ton here. No doubt about that. But that toy fair crap was both stupid and dishonest. I don't care how stupid you are, after that damning evidence, if you'Re not willing to open that up and see what's inside you're guilty. Period. That was wilful deception, even if the said guy was who made this prototype. If mike had opened that SNES that first night, and appologised, then I'd consider him innocent, and scammed by this guy. But as it played out? If he really was scammed, it was while trying to scam others.
Every single step of the way in this "project", even being the nicest possible and trying to see the best case scenario, Mike still comes off as very incompetent and deceiving.
No because if they had opened the fake SNES proto and I would have seen it or been notified; hell was going to break loose then, when Piko official statement would have been "CC proto is FAKE".
I'm still pissed at all this, Mike says he is the only one that lost money; and that is not correct. I spent this year's expo/travel/convention funds on that trip to NY as well as 2 weeks of work handling the backlash etc.
And we weren't even considered to buy the Molds when I told them we wanted to buy them. So I see it like we were the most damaged third party monetarily.

Just wanted to drop by and let anybody that is thinking on making a homebrew game and wants to make a physical release that we are about to finish our new app for homebrew developers to track their sales.
If you want more information follow this link:
http://wp.me/p3vDBy-5e
It is just a simple app which will allow them to track sales, see earnings and see their payments. It will be automated every time a sales comes in our website as well as we can add manual sales if we sell one of your games when we promote it at a gaming convetion etc.
Let me know what you guys think. -
Checked the voice in those podcast; unfortunately not mr lee

I think so too. The market is really soft for super-retro stuff like that outside of good old AtariAge. They did Astrosmash and Shark Shark! on Android and iOS. Android tells you a rough idea of how many downloads an app has received. It's "between 100 and 500" for each of these, which sold for a dollar each. Note that "downloads" is a higher number than "purchases."
Many of those downloads are me, and I bought them on iOS too.
Maybe I should delete and redownload them a bunch of times to get them to the next tier.
Well Android is really a waste of time if you don't have some sort of mini transactions for coins, or ads. IOS could make good money if you are picked up on the top numbers of categories. But Android users want free stuff; so is not the best Idea to released games there; at least if you don't have bottomless advertising funds like King or Rovio.

Well if we're going back 5 years, 2011 was a prolific year for Mike. There was also Gamerspots, which aimed to be the Yelp of game arcades & stores. Went live in April 2011, and stopped tweeting 2 weeks later. There was a website for a few years according to archive.org, but the page now says that they are "currently updating our database and servers to provide an even better experience":
- https://web.archive.org/web/20130530045158/http://www.gamerspots.com/
Actually that would have been very useful for people like me. We could go into that site, and get the info of stores to do sales calls of our physical games.
But it hasn't worked in like 2 years.
About the Intellivision games, man 10K for all those 3 and you are already making profit in My opinion.

I would have liked to have put this in the Coleco Chameleon Epilogue thread that was suggested earlier. If one one happens I may copy this post over to there if that sort of thing one time doesn't ruffle feathers
Pat and I recorded our last bits on this whole mess last night. They should be up sometime today. I have to admit I'm really happy the announcement of Coleco Holdings dropping the Chameleon came when it it did, it couldn't have come at a better time both in terms of recording and my general interest and patience. We've covered this since the RVGS announcement. It's been an often amusing, always bizarre ride that became infuriating and then increasingly tiresome. We both broke recording schedules to signal boost info when we could, sorted through the big bursts of info and followed the quiet days or weeks after waiting for an interview or more evidence. Don't get me wrong, we weren't all star reporters sleeping at our desks eating cold bagels and drinking stale coffee but I have a full time job, Pat has plenty of full time projects and it was honestly sort of obsessing us =D After almost a year on the same topic it was really nice to put a bow on it and push it out the door. We do a basic round-up, talk a bit about the drop, and Pat responds to some criticism that I managed to mostly avoid due to absence, I couldn't be in that video because of work.
We did as much of our own research and conclusion making as we could but it would be absolutely insane and totally unfair to not give the Atari Age forum a massive amount of credit. we put together a bunch of stone tile flooring with massive gaps and every single damn time you all came and puttied it over, filled the cracks, and sent us in new directions. Lots of times I felt we were being a megaphone. All of us together, I think, are responsible for how this rode out.
In short: I owe a lot of fuckin' beers to you out there. If you don't drink I'll provide the Martinelli's sparkling apple juice. That's good shit. Come say hey if you're at a convention I'm at. Would love to shake hands.
Shout outs to Brian from Jag Bar, Eli from Piko, Kevtris, Retro Gaming Round-up, and a whole bunch of others I promise I'm not ommiting because I'm an asshole I just have really bad short term memory. Great info that really pushed the story along. Shout out to my cat, Spike.
Holy Sh*t I got a shout out from Ian!

Did the CV Flashback not sell well in the US?
In Canada, they were sold exclusively by Bed, Bath and Beyond for $40Cdn. The stores near me sold 500+ of EACH of the available Flashback models, as well as the Sega console and handhelds. I spoke to managers of 3 locations, so that's 1,500 of each model just in my general area. As far as I'm concerned, that's pretty good for a system like that.
In here (at least Tx) they were listed at 59.99 and saw them stay unsold for a while. Then all of the sudden they were at $25 (walgreens), and $10 (sams or cotsco can't recall)
-
They could come back later this year but any chance of success in the console market would be diminished by the approaching Nintendo NX. They already lost their chance to make a quick grab for that Kickstarter cash. The timing was very important here. At this point no company (even with a good public image) would ever want to release a console this year.
what lol?
We are talking about Flashbacks!

Well I told Chris that we (Piko) would be able to release plug and plays for Coleco. I've been slowly working on a Genesis one for us, unless Atgames picks our games up (don't know if they would have interest in our games).
I also told Albert we can do an Atari one.
We wouldn't have the distribution volume as Atgames, but we can sell a lot direct to retail.
As I mentioned before, I have contact with the same factory that does the Atgames consoles.

Agreed. I bought one ColecoVision Flashback (for $45, I seem to recall), but I would have been much happier if they'd been cheaper. I think the less-than-perfect sound emulation also hurt their sales.
They could really come back at it this year, fixing issues, adding more games and I would suggest to make a new controller model. Same functionality, better design.

The ColecoVision Flashback didn't sell well enough, so I don't expect AtGames to make any more Coleco branded products.
The mini- arcade units with a Raspberry Pi and lcd screen are a great idea. The only problem is that a Raspberry pi is way too expensive for manufacturing and distributing and then making a profit. To get a Raspberry Pi with a power supply costs more than the entire ColecoVision Flashback.
AtGames (or some other company) couldn't use a Raspberry Pi, they would need to make there own board in China for a fraction of the $35 cost of a Pi. And given the lackluster sales of the ColecoVision Flashback, they will probably decide not to make any more Coleco products.
However, for someone on Atariage to sell mini-acrade Raspberry Pi units is a great idea. They could either be finished units, or kits you make yourself. You could print out a Coleco logo, or a Pac Man logo, or whatever you wanted. Its technically copyright infringement to do that, but you would never be sued over such a home made kit.
Atgames released the CV flashback too expensive.
MSRP should have been 29.99 tops 34.99. Then they would have sold out.
They didn't sell well because Atgames doesn't really know much about games (thus why they hire 3rd party consultants). So they thought it would sell as good as the Genesis ones.

Yeah we still can't figure out how much is foul play and how much is incompetence and I am inclined to agree it's gotta be both.
No fishing I promise. I'm really interested into the thought process and aspirations/dreams that went into it and let the beast run afoul.
For example CollectorVision candidly admitted they got super excited once they were the pack-in game, not so much once the royalties got cut 50%, I believe the RVGS team may have gotten something to get you excited too.
I'm curious as to what sales number Mike or whomever you interacted with was flying around? Millions?
The higher the payout the more we become tone def to a whole class of signals ..... I should know I've seen me doing exactly that (in a totally different setting).
Not saying that it was the case for you but as I grow older I start to realize that many actions (but not all) are direct result of an emotional status more than carefully planned logic. No matter how much I strive for the second the first always creeps in, the best I can do is to figure out what was at play to at least admit to that much.
I don't think you are guilty of anything related to how the hardware was developed (or non developed I should say) etc...
By your new info Mr Lee made you chuckle many times over with his over the top antics .... but you let it slide somewhat. Not accusing again, just stating a fact. Surely there was something more pressing than dealing with those.
I do not own any company at all, so I know nothing of what is important when dealing with third party etc, let alone how to keep the company alive and possibly strive. But you do.
Aside the obvious, the CC promised to run SNES games you have the right for "NOS" SNES games, what did the CC represent for you that for example the old RVGS did not? The other time you sniffed BS pretty early on and shut the door close very soon.
If I may what was different this time? Was it the Coleco name?
I made the math, and I pretty much concluded that the only way to make money on this console was to be the pack in game. So when I got Mike's call about it, yeah I got excited. I even threw in games that I would not currently consider for multicarts, to the pack in multicart. All because the minimum amount of units needed to fund were somewhat around 2500 or so; that is a ton of carts (at least for me). So yeah I got excited. However I'm glad I was able to stay cool and greed didn't take over and I offered to give back the pack in spot if my requirements were met. Those requirements were to overall fix a lot of things wrong with how they were handling the project.
First time on VGS, as I stated on Sega Nerds (and I even was live here posting when they launched), they wanted games, offered them a list of 30, they picked super noah's and they didn't add it to the indiegogo; They were already failing pretty bad when I was notified that they will finally add our games, which I then refused.
Now this time, they had the Coleco name and had slashed the cost by over 50%. That gave me the impressions that they would sort of be successful; as well as the competition was going to be a launch developer, so I felt pressured to be part of it too. Also since they had promised that they were coming back with a proto, I thought they had one already for the CC try, and KS is a much better crowdfunding platform.
So it is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. At the end of the days, it was mainly game sales.

I want to say you can't add other games. But there will be games added every year. Which may be you can update your old version to add those new games (I'm speculating)
