  1. No. On the falcon the bus has 16mb addressable space, 2mb is reserved for the hardware, leaving 14mb to fill the space, a 1mb card fits into the 14mb gap ok as does the 4mb card. 16mb however cannot fit into the 14mb space so it ignores 2mb so it will work.
  2. Skarro: I'm using a mac/falcon formatted cf card in tos/windows compatible setup on the IDE port. In this setup you get 2 extra files one with additional information 4096 bytes in size and a file called 'A' for each file which tos cannot open or delete. If you copy a folder it finds all these files giving an error on each 'A' file you find, so I suggest to open the folder, select then copy and let the mac delete the files. Don't have any other issues otherwise, I'm sure the same will be true for ultrasatan.
  3. With regards to the 14/16mb ram upgrade, the system reserves 2mb for the system, I.e there needs to be somewhere for tos and the hardware to live so the system blocks ram access to the upper section to allow space for these and thus leaves 14mb. To use the Internet you'll need software like 'sting' and hardware to access it like 'netbus', there are some new boards being built again soon.
  4. Whole heartedly endorse this comment. Everyone has an opinion but it should only be used as guidance, you might find something that someone has missed. The best things I've learned is through experimentation. Making mistakes along the way, getting frustrated because it fails to work like you thought yields the bigger "YES" that you shout when it works. Have fun and share your experiences
  5. The 68000 was only added to the jaguar as a means to get the RISC chips running and control simple tasks, they thought about a few options including the 68030 but decided on the 68000 for a number of reasons including cost and availability. Both RISC processors are intended to be used together, the GPU is tailored to graphics and I would suggest this should be its purpose. The other RISC chip is a general purpose DSP and is intended to be more flexible for non graphic processes. With regards to code, Lars hannig has produced some and there is an aftermarket jaguar development CD with libraries and source code to help get you rolling.
