"Back in the day" there we all kinds of advertisements in print media and on TV for the TI-99/4A. Micropendium, Home Computer Magazine, Computer Shopper, you name it, it seemed like there was always an advertisement for something 'cool' during the 81-83 time frame. Now some of those catalogs were well done, others looked like a Xerox nightmare, of course the TV advertisements always looked polished. These days, there are a lot of guys making YouTube videos, many of them for the TI. Now these days nearly everyone has a camera and a word processor on their PC, so they and can make stuff much better than some companies/individuals were putting in magazines back then. Now, with the above in mind, why not a 'modern day' advertisement thread? You really don't have to have anything for sale, but it would be neat if people picked out one of their favorite items and made a print style or TV type advertisement for their 'product'. It can be anything really, old new, hell even Zero Zap! I think this might be fun and kick up the nostalgia meter a notch or two. Anyone want to have a little fun with this?

I had a GREAT 2020 with the TI! I took my TI on vacation, I built up a new beige system with matching sidecars, and am closing out 2020 with a "bang" and you might too once you watch the following video. So how did your 2020 TI-wise turn out? -

@GoldLeader I got a decent deal on an N64 on ebay that way in august where it was listed under video game accessories instead of consoles or something like that. Sort of related, I always wonder how cheap Nuons have been sold before as regular DVD players. I know they're rare, but the only thing showing what they are is a tiny little badge on the front that nobody would ever care what it means unless they already know what it means, so there have got to be some selling on ebay as "samsung DVD player" etc that you would never see when searching for them. It is also the only reason I bother looking at DVD players in charity shops really. Most 3DO models look like nondescript DVD players too, as opposed to most games consoles that advertise what they are as much as possible, like Jag or Mega Drive.

@wierd_w I'm curious, have you finalized the design and designed the end cap cover? This has been such an enjoyable project to watch and play with, actually one of my highlights of 2020 that I'd hate to see it left without a conclusion.

HxD is cool and most of the TI stuff is so small you don't even have to register the program if you're cheap. 🤪

Sometimes they can be useful simply for their entertainment value. To answer your question, I read it. As for visibility, it showed up in the "New Activity" feed. -
I wonder though, is it really 'green' to keep an old computer running daily online tasks? How much power does it use as opposed to a new computer? How much longer does it take to display a page on a memory restricted system? Is the extra required "on time" figured into the power usage calculations? Depending on the task required, an older computer might actually be more of a power hog, especially if it's got an older CRT attached.

Yeah, there are places now that will not even let you connect if you are using a VPN. That's fine by me, because places that want to deny me privacy are places I'd rather not go.

Well...at least for me, (I've only had one main "incident"), I curled up in a ball on my couch the first couple days, but then like you said, set about remembering "real life" had been happening around me and needed catching up.
@Bixler - I actually look forward to those, is the only time I actually get any help cleaning up!

Agreed! Over the past few years the latest has been the greatest giving us many more capabilities... and I've loved second of it. In this one instance though, I'm going to lock my software for it in place.

With all the modern projects for the TI that have come out in the last few years, I'm kinda surprised a new PCB has not appeared on the scene for a replacement. Then again, it's probably due to the keytops and price being the Achilles heel. One with light up keytops would be real cool!
