Excellent blog entry!

I've also found that I don't need a 'computer in my pocket' when I'm away from home. Voice, text and a limited amount of data to keep up with Atari Age is all I need.
My phone (pictured below) is small enough to fit in my pocket without me being aware it there. This phone also does not do Java, it does not have a dozen APPS spying on me all day long that use my data plan either.
And like you, I like buttons too!

I wonder why they didn't open the hood with the hood release? ..instead of messing around with it for so long?
Listen between the 24 to 27 second marks.

Believe me. they made the smart move!

I've actually wanted a nice console tube type radio in restored and working order for years. I even have a special place of honor to put one. My problem is actually finding one at an AFFORDABLE price. Then when you add shipping to the equation, well I may never get a late 30's or mid 40's era radio.

I'd sure give one a good home and appreciate it, and even use it daily. For some reason those old unit's sound better.

What? You mean your illustrator/owner never in all those 30 years upgraded you to eliminate the need for a switch box?

Weekends suck... I want to see how this ends.

It's RETRO from 'about' the same era!

Gawd, I forgot all about that tune!

Yeah, unfortunately, I am old enough

I just never had a 2600. I went from the Sears Pong Clone to the O2, to TI-99/4A and had a brief Atari stint with the 5200. I loved the 5200's games, but the joysticks did not hold up to play very well, so I bailed on it.

Amazing what a guy learns...

Yes, the #1 thing I liked about the 80's was my then youth.
-
When I was younger I dropped more quarters into this game than I'll ever admit to. I was kind of bummed out that a version could not be made for the TI-99/4A.
Long Live The Games of Our Youth!

I normally save .GIF files to my HD and then import them into Word, which will also saves in .PDF format, but I can see how this can be a great help.
There are a couple of other utilities for working with PDF files you might want to play with as well.
This one will let you stick multiple PDF files together.

This one is kind of cool too, it'll convert a PDF to Word so you can edit it.

I enjoyed Interstellar as I've always preferred 'hard' science fiction. Now I would also like to see some movies based on the Rama series of books... BUT not before a movie based on Poul Anderson's Tau Zero!

Reduce the size of the picture a little and you have a new Avatar!

Right on!
I like originality and free thought. Why would anyone go through all the trouble of making a nice NEW game and turning it into a cartridge only to wrap it in a boring old wrapper.
If these games a new, why copy tired old crappy labels?

Mine arrived today. I think it looks pretty cool in my TI-Shrine.

I'm gonna send a few people your way...

If you are interested in BCB-DX (Broadcast Band Long Distance Listening)
This .PDF at the link below might interest you...
http://www.nrcdxas.org/sample/Sample_DXN.pdf
There is a whole community of avid listeners out there.
-
Back when I was a kid I used to do a lot of BCB-DXing... even in this day and age there are still people who listen in and try to get distant stations at night.
Heck, they even have 'software defined' radios controlled by PC's that can receive and record the ENTIRE BAND at the the same time for later listening.

Nice start!

Professor Stewart,
This looks great! I printed off your first lesson, and since I have some time available next week, I'll go over every inch of it and see where I end up!
I also plan to get your manual printed up and bound at Office Despot next week as well.
