I don't get what these 512k versions of some games are?

They work with the finalgrom, or some other cart hardware?

I usually just download the *_8.bin versions and put it on my FG99.

Yes, the 512K versions work in the FinalGROM, BUT if someone wants to burn a 49F040 chip for an UberGROM, the image has to be 512K for it to work properly.  The game is kind of neat, so I figured a couple of people might want to burn a dedicated cartridge from an easily downloadable image suitable for the task.

  2. It used to be...

    IMAGE.thumb.jpg.bbbc05e386667526216bf6a7f42e5df2.jpg But....

... now days, most of those companies that put software on floppies are out of business, so no longer sell or maintain the software.  And if you don't copy the old media, you'll lose the program and/or data to bit rot, mold or some other malady so..

go ahead and ...  Capture.JPG.ba69ca4ef54603c5679c3508a392f433.JPG or you'll regret it later!

I'm waiting to hear if the UberGROM fails in the same manner or not. Or to get my own TI set up already, darn it. ;)

My UberGROM version of Tutankham has NEVER failed on any of my TI's.  I was actually surprised to hear it was an issue.  When I tested for failure I used the FinalGROM as most people tend to use that cartridge these days.

  4. Tursi wrote a screen capture utility a few years back, so 1/2 the job is done, but it requires load interrupt capability.  If it's compatible with the program, capturing the image would be possible, the only thing... it saves to a file, it may take a lot of effort to change over to printer format.

I hope we're not talking about mothballing this forum...🤨

Naw, if anything it might increase activity here.  First I doubt the majority would be interested in this project, but those that do would be able to talk freely and discuss things at a different level.  Stuff talked about would probably migrate back here.
