  1. I was curious, so for grins I used SIB to see what would happen. I expected to see the error, "no valid markup found on page" like you see when you go to a non-TI page. But I guess it's not designed to recognize the FTP command. BTW - Who was working on that translation routine that would strip out graphics and insert the TI formatting for non TI pages? I'd still like to see that!
  2. What might be nice is a pre-made converter, one that has the ATX power input connections on one side and the TI output power connections for the back plane on the other. This would be great for people wanting to put their TI guts in a modern case -OR- for an easy fix for those with failing TI power supplies. Plug and play... it's a great concept and is one reason the F18A has done so well. Anyway this would serve both 'camps' needs and wants, while at the same time making it financially viable to whoever decides to make it. Heck, I'd buy one just to have on-hand in case of a future failure, which WILL happen someday.
  3. Hi, I hear you when it comes to space considerations, that was my main concern as well. My solution was to put some rubber feet on the side and set it up like a tower case. I think it looks nice that way and it sure saves on space. From a hobby perspective, I personally think getting the P-Box is the way to go... I'll tell you why. First, it keeps your options open and gives you room to expand and add on new goodies over the years a little bit at a time. I find a hobby more enjoyable when there is room for growth. There are projects in the works that you might want down the line. If you did get a Nano-PEB that worked, you would be 'locked-in' without a way to expand and enjoy the new goodies. Sorry, but out of sheer laziness I'm going to include a couple of links to my blog where I've highlighted some hardware options in greater detail. Schmitzi gave you some great advice, the Lotharek HxC is a great device and uses an SD card, which is something you want. It also facilitates ease of transfer of files or disk images from the Internet and your PC to the TI. << CLICK HERE >> for more detail on that device. Now there is a modification that is rather inexpensive that you may want to investigate to get more available storage space using the Lotharek. That device is highlighted << HERE >>. To quote a wise TI'er that is no longer with us, "Without that modification, you'll be wasting half the available space. If you want to get an idea of how the stuff is installed, Wyerd has a REALLY GOOD thread that goes into awesome detail, complete with pictures << HERE >>. The Lotharek can be used as DSK1 & DSK2 at the same time, so with a modified TI floppy controller that will give you 720K of usable space at one time, but you can quite literally have gigabytes on one SD card so you could basically have a ton of stuff at the press of a button. Hope this give you a little bit more information to gnaw on and consider. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  4. ^^^ Yeah, this game is going to be a lot of fun. What he has so far is REALLY ENJOYABLE to play!
  5. Okay, a lot of us here at Atari Age could be considered 'hard core" TI'ers. That got me wondering how many of us here are hoarders.... make that 'collectors', or just someone who feels more comfortable with a backup of two, three or more....
  6. I have a technical question for the programming gurus. Since FTP sites and the programs that use them are basically text only, it would not be impossible for an FTP program to exist on the TI correct? Imagine the whtech site with a few directories of stuff ready for TI use. An FTP program like this paired with Stuart's Browser or maybe the ability someday built-into the browser itself would make the TI fully self-sufficient in the modern Internet era without the need of a PC in a support role.
  7. I've never played with VDM99 this will let me drag and drop to the TI from Windows over the HDX without having to buy new hardware or manually changing settings? Cool. Got a link to the program? I'd love to try it out.
  8. Yes, that program works in a kludge sort of fashion one program at a time with multiple steps. I guess I'm not very good today explaining myself. I'll try again... The program would be something that would just need to be loaded up on the TI, that's it, no other fussing around. 100% of all control operations would be done on the PC, just like dragging, dropping and deleting is be done on the PC. One would be able to access ALL available drives on the TI via the PC in the same exact way one easily manipulates files on an SD or USB card. For all intents and purposes the program on the TI would emulate an SD card, except the storage device would of course be the TI itself. All this would be performed without making new cables. Yes, DM2K does this already, but you have to press multiple FCTN keys to tag, directory, etc. This would also enable one to view all drives and their entire contents on the screen at the same time and even move things back and forth between drives. It was just an idea to streamline things. I doubt this will go anywhere.
  9. Hey, that's kind of neat! In this case I was thinking of a CHEAP software solution for people who currently have HDX's, but want to stick with their conventional or existing hardware. The only drawback to this method that I see is Greg and other's would be hounded by quite a few people that don't already have an HDX to get them to make one for them, because the utility and ease of use is just too good to pass up. To me this comes under the heading of, "Why has no one ever thought of this before?" I doubt it would be impossible to pass the control commands to the TI. I'm sure some sort of interpretation routine would have to be developed though.
  10. ^^^ I don't understand HOW you do all your magic, but I do comprehend the concepts you speak of. I am suitably impressed by your programming and problem solving skills. In my mind you have reached the level of TI-god-hood.
  11. Do you guy's with HDX's think you could use a program on your TI that could be controlled from the PC? Imagine having DIRECT ACCESS to all your active TI drives, from your PC... just like a SD or USB memory device. The way I envision this working: A disk access program with read & write capabilities would reside and be active on the TI, but it would be controlled from the PC. This would enable one to drag and drop things on the PC directly to the TI... just like using a memory stick or SD card. Individual drives would be listed/organized like files on the PC (example: DSK1, DSK2, DSK3, DSK4.) Imagine how much easier it would be to add or delete files, create compilations and organize everything.
  12. Schmitzi, I cannot speak anout the "FT1.2 protocol", but t subject has been covered before, somehow I guess you missed it... << CLICK HERE >> They are a little bit more expensive, BUT IT WORKS with my HDX on both my laptops and tablet.
  13. Ooooooh yeah! I like this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMdzwsBN7aA
  14. Hey guys, you are gonna LOVE this! If you can believe it, Stuart has made his browser even better. He'll be releasing more information in the future, but this might 'wet your appetite'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO259O0tcqo&feature=youtu.be
  15. Yes, that'll work! Once you paste the text listing into Classic99 and save it to a FIAD directory, simply load up Ti99Dir, make an image disk in the proper format, then copy the file(s) from the FIAD directory into the new .DSK image. Convert to .HFE and you are good to go once you save it to your SD card. Glad to see my short, sweet and to the point little videos helped. Thanks!
  16. Wow, you can't get more convenient than << THIS >>! At 119USD that translates (currently) into 110.20EUR I agree, a much better deal.
  17. Yeah, those end labels are totally awesome! They were designed by Atari Age user PeBo. You can download the sheet and print up your own by going to << THIS MESSAGE >> and downloading the file. If you download them, be sure to give him a 'like' for his effort.
  18. I could not come up with ten, but these are my favorites in no particular order...
  19. ^^^ ROFL.!! That would be something.
  20. Yeah, I'd have her print and cut out the graphic below and have her attach it to the top of the box for you.
  21. So how's the progress coming? I might have to check and see if anyone has done a You Tube video on Ti99Dir yet. It's a great program and sometime video can bring things to peoples attention. Below is a small video that is short on detail, but then again it's only designed to point out that a solution to a common problem exists, and hopefully bring people to our little corner of the Web for more detailed answers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oXtpwopFiE
  22. Hey, that's nice! Where did you order the box from?
