What REALLY... ... having the parts on the bench, but not enough time to start the project, so you... ... go into a waiting pattern.
-
^^ I like it... nice touch with the little Star Wars characters keeping guard over them.
-
I gamble that it'll fit.... +1 for a Black/Silver
-
^^^ WOW, not bad for a first response! All those on one cartridge... what a mind blowing concept.

Been hacking up a lung again today, so I've been trying to take it easy before work, so I decided to make a GIF with an image I had floating around for the TI. What can be better than a TI image on a PC?
-
I have a question... do you think using a pad sander to remove the bumps would ruin the case? I suppose I could paint it afterwards if that happened. I'll probably be a +1 for the silver and black version once it's confirmed a Version 1 fits.

Is there a .BIN available for download? If so, I was unaware and seemed to have missed it. If one exists, could you point me to the message where it's downloadable? I'll be more than happy to add it to the .BIN Repository list.

Well, if you've never soldered before, this is probably not a first project for you. A good first project would be the << Alpha Lock / Joystick Fix >>. The project I referred to puts 32K in the TI console, that let's you use the extra memory requirements of these "new-style" carts. The 'new breed' allow many games and/or utilities to reside in one single cartridge, where the 'old-style' was basically one program per cartridge. For a returning TI'er, one cartridge per program can get bloody expensive, and locks them out of the new 'homebrew' stuff until they purchase an expansion unit or can wait or find a Nano-PEB as the other alternative.

Do you use The Great Gazoo's XB 2.7s Cartridge?
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
This is impressive, 3/4 of Atari Age users have and use Gazoo's XB 2.7s cartridge... and that number is still GROWING! Way to go Gazoo! Way to go! -
One of the issues with huge cartridge compilations has been many of them have multiple games that people do not want or will never play. So what to do? That's easy, talk to the 'target audience', the people who will actually use these cartridges! Okay, this process might take a month to complete (settling on selections), but that's where YOU come in. To get things started, we need to know YOUR favorite video games for the TI. Please try to list your twenty TEN favorite games (not easy) in order of preference. For this first stage it does not matter if they are legacy games or new 'homebrew' games. GOOD LUCK!

My pleasure and congratulations. It's the best cartridge ever made for the TI. You are going to love it... with 32K.
-
Yeah, you could... and it looks like Greg has one in stock -----> HERE

Well, maybe someday. Your cartridge boards are a work of art, so it seems like a shame not to display them. The owner of the one transparent cartridge hooked up a little color-changing LED inside for a little 'bling effect'.

Hmmm.... I never thought of that! Interesting....

(Hardware) Project of the 'calendar quarter'
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Nice project wire, it's almost impossible to make a mistake with this stuff. Just take your time and prep your wires ahead of time with a little flux & solder. To attach them, just touch it to the correct pin on the chip, that's also treated with a "smidge of flux" and it'll take as soon as you apply the heat of the soldering iron. It only takes a second. If for some reason you manage to make a mistake, no big deal, it's easily correctable! -
Man, we've been really lucky in 2014! We've gotten all kinds of new cartridge boards, binary images, new compilations and many guys have bought programmers. Now one thing is really and seriously missing... I know you're out there, you know who I'm talking about... YOU, the guy with the TI cartridge mold! So... consider making some translucent cartridge shells...
-
When it's done... ... we NEED PHOTOS!

Cool! Welcome to the TI Club. Say, if you are comfortable with a soldering iron, you may want to consider << THIS PROJECT >>. For the price of a couple of Ebay purchased cartridges, you could get that console updated to use the new breed of cartridges, and that will save you a ton of money because you'll be able to use all the new mega-game cartridges listed in << THIS MESSAGE >>.

If you have a TL866A you'll be able to make your own Editor/Assembler cartridge... as part of an Extended BASIC 2.7 Suite cartridge. First you'll need to obtain an UberGROM (blue) cartridge board when one becomes available, you'll need an Atmel 1284P chip to house that specific code and since the programming package I'm talking about has a ton of other support programs, you'll also need a 49F040 to house all the ROMs contained in the image. You can obtain more in-depth information << HERE >> as there are multiple reference downloads... be sure to download the document on the MiniPRO written by Gazoo! You'll probably want to check out Tursi's thread << HERE >> as well.

(Hardware) Project of the 'calendar quarter'
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Woo Hoo! Mine should arrive tomorrow while I'm at work. Can't wait until January! -
Well, technically it's NOT a limitation of Classic99 now that you mention it. I suppose I really should have been more clear. My BAD! Begin yer pardon sir. Actually if I had a simulated cartridge version, all would have been copacetic. The memory limitation was due to me using the DISK VERSION of the Cortex BASIC which uses memory in such a way that it severely limits available space for programs.
-
Yep, that's what I was using! I'll download it.... THANKS! Which post number?
-
Ran out of memory in CLASSIC 99 while trying to port Eliza over...
-
Neat! Black would be a great option, with silver plastic spray paint on the small flat side (For that two-tone TI-Look) I have two questions: 1) How much 2) Do you have to take it apart to get to the CF card or has it been revised with an access hatch?
-
Okay, here is the high-resolution (revised) JetPac label. I uploaded it in a .ZIP because Atari Age has a habit of degrading images and even re-sizes them down, which can really make them 'kinda sucky' if you plan to print them. JetPac - Label.zip
