TI-99/4A Related Desserts (Cakes, Pies, etc.)

I checked this out at the bakery today on my way home from a painful trip to Les Schwab, anyway doing the edible paper photo is only $5.00 extra. Not bad. -
(Hardware) Project of the 'calendar quarter'

Oh, here's a video for soldering Newbies... if you think you cannot solder to those IC's in the TI, you're wrong. If the guy in this video can solder to a SMT chip, you can solder to a 'big honkin legacy chip'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSJGnDHKFQ8 -

Interesting thing, the 30 gauge (Kynar) is twice as expensive as the 28 gauge wire. (Less for more?) I'll probably go that route though as it'll probably be easier to attach to the IC's leads. -
Every time you come across a Gazoo post, please consider clicking 'like'. It would be cool like to see him over 1000 'likes' by the anniversary of his passing. Love it!

The next EVOLUTION in Future TI Cartridge(s)
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Development
There are many different aspects to the TI hobby, some like games, others are into hardware, programming or whatever. As people grow into the hobby, many ending up spending more on new hardware, firmware and other associated things... and they become hooked. One thing I'd like to see is something to draw new or returning TI'ers into the fold. If the price point of the BAIT is low enough, we can "HOOK 'EM". Some guys have 10 or more backup consoles, 'lending' one with a single compilation cartridge could get people interested too. Just a few years ago I came across Tursi's Classic 99 in a web search, which led to further searching, that led me to a user group and then to Atari age, that led to me hooking up with my first "TI-Crack-Dealer"... the rest speaks for itself. We've had a few others join up over the past couple of years too. -
You're not far off! One amazing TI'er actually DID leave his legacy behind in a cartridge... << CLICK HERE >>

The next EVOLUTION in Future TI Cartridge(s)
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Development
Well, they would probably need a 32K memory upgrade, but that can be accomplished for 'around' $11.03! I gotta admit it would be sweet and with the lower price-point to get that kind of capability it might draw a few more people to the TI as a platform own and use. -
STRONG OPINION(s) AHEAD! While I would NEVER consider it, someone with more money than brains might pop for it.(#1) In life, the old saying, "to each his own", applies. If someone has the money to waste,(#2) and wants it fine, more power to them. He may eventually find a sucker (#3) willing to spend that much 'for a cardboard box with stickers' to collect dust on a shelf that cannot be opened without flushing it's arbitrary 'value'.(#4) Eventually we are all gonna die, the next generation is not going to give a damn about an obscure cartridge and the 'value' will drop like a stone'.(#5) An alternative... you can buy many cartridge boards, memory chips, a burner, and download over hundred games and still have money left over! You'll have so much fun playing games, you wont care about watching dust settle on a old box. DISCLAMER: The following rant was based on MY opinions only.

Tursi, Jameco also carries wire. Do you think << THIS >> is right for the job? If everyone ordered two each of the chips and the wire, it would eliminate the shipping charges. -
Hmmm, I'll have to check, is there an image available for Turbo Forth that will fit into a 512K chip for the Blue Board?

I have something to say about Never-Lander... ...of all the games that can be used with a trackball, this game seems to have been made for it. -

I love that cake she made and it's given me an idea... ... there is a HUGE graphic floating around on the Internet somewhere of the entire motherboard. I might try to get a whole sheet cake made using the entire motherboard. I can always bring it to << THIS >> assuming it comes to fruition. -

Omega-TI replied to VectorGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'd like to get my paws on a clone of the Myarc DDCC-1 floppy controller, but that appears highly unlikely, so I got myself a dashcam instead. On the practical side I also have to get four new wheels and tires on Wednesday. -

The Tursi 32K 'in-console' Memory Expansion 1st Quarter of 2016 With the cool cartridge images that have been coming out that require 32K, I was thinking the time might be right for a dedicated 'gaming only machine'. Tursi's internal 32K memory expansion seems like 'just the ticket' to make this happen. At first glance some of you may balk at this project, but if you look it over carefully, you'll realize that if you take your time and do it 'one wire at a time', it'll be a fairly nice project. So, pull out one of your many backup consoles and consider giving this project a shot. NOTE: If you buy the parts from Jameco like Tursi mentioned... ...so you might want to add a couple of extra items. The following attached PDF's should get you started. They are: 1) TI32k Mod ................The actual project by Tursi 2) TI-99 4A Dissassembly.... A PDF file made from the ripped off contents of MAINBYTE.COM The other two are datasheets on the specific chips for those who are interested. Oh yeah, one more thing... this project does not have to be just for a dedicated gaming machine. Some of you guys are running out of room in your P-Boxes, this project will let you, "open up one extra slot". CY7C199 Datasheet.pdf 74LS21 Datasheet.pdf TI-99 4A Dissassembly.pdf TI 32k Mod.pdf -
