Yes, it's good for loading programs, but so far at least, I've not discovered a way to actually view the contents of an Internet directory with the TI, or download and save those programs to the TI directly from a website.
-
Just for giggles I added HTTP://ftp.whtech.com/TIPI as my URL2 and then tried to directory it from Force Command... no luck of course as shown below...
-
Interesting! It works too? What is the exact URL and what do you do with that link? I'd like to learn more.

The Platoterm site, that's the HTTP://WWW.IRATA.ONLINE right? I cannot remember the ones but Stuart also has some URL's liste a little over halfway down on this link --- > http://www.stuartconner.me.uk/ti/ti.htm There is also another one I also cannot remember with Lilly & Grace in the URL, I sure he'll pop in with the correct link.

Some people like myself are using RXB from Force Command now and want their programs to load up without any extraneous button presses to maintain continuity and flow. I guess it's all a matter of perspective, want/needs.

The "IDEA" Thread -- (Based on a suggestion)
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
One idea (in two parts)... Part one: Some future version of Stuart's Internet Browser would check the typed URL for the addition of a single letter in a specific portion on the entry... Normally we type: http://www.website But what if we could type: httpi://www.website If there was an i in the 5th place, instead of a colon, it could pass the information to a module running on the Raspberry Pi. What would that module do? That's part two! It would basically strip out all photos and HTML and translate what is left into SIB format text and send it to the browser. In this way the TI could browse all sort of sites on the internet. For all I know there might be an easier way, it's just an idea. -
Thanks!

@jonecool thanks for that last video. I forgot the 9918 part during my last upgrade/reinstall. If it was not for you video, I wouldn't have logged back into Chatti. I have MYTI99.COM set up as URI1, so from the DOS prompt in Force Command I just type: LOAD URI1.CHATTI

Ditto

TIPI users are familiar with the title of this thread but that is indeed the topic. Which three URI's, which I'm assuming are your favorites, do you have stored in your TIPI?

Also, was there a link someplace to all the start points (XBADDR=) variables? There are so many different ones to try, apparently XBGEM_G is 12381 and TIXB_G is 25474 and ... but it would still be nice to have them all in one place.

BTW - FYI, those sized labels can be purchased even cheaper << HERE >>

THUD! No replies? I'm kind of shocked to be honest. I thought we all might learn something about these other versions of BASIC from their users and what they might have to offer us, especially in this unique useful configuration.

I used to buy 24 boxes of 5000 at the Costco by the Portland Airport every few weeks. Back before everybody and their brother had a computer and printer, it was like a licen$e to print money. I was truly sad to see printers come down in price, because after only a couple of years most of that side-business dried up. It was great while it lasted though!

The "IDEA" Thread -- (Based on a suggestion)
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
One idea I acted on recently was to be able to EASILY share the SD card between my P-Box TIPI and my portable TIPI. We all know that on the original sidecar TIPI and the TIPI/32K, getting to the SD card is fairly easy, however on the P-Box TIPI pulling teeth is easier than gaining access to the SD card. So, what I did was get myself an SD card extension... ... now if I want to swap cards, replace a card or even use and older standard size SD card, I should be good to go. It looks like it'll blend in 'okay'. I'll have some time next week to pull everything apart, clean and reinstall everything, so I'll let you know how it worked out then. -
Makes sense.

So you're using T80XB on your TIPI with the FCMD routines, so what version of Extended BASIC are you using with your Force Command setup and why?
-
Honestly though, when I play with the TI, I like to do as much as possible on the TI. To that end, I get a little "greedy" in the want department, something I'm sure a few of you would agree with. Unfortunately, I'm pre-wired to be full of ideas and see things from different angles. In this case, I'd still prefer to use PI.PIO, but there are extra time consuming steps that get in the way. Of course all of this could be eliminated with a single program running in the background on the PC that monitors for PDFS activity. Say for example once a PDF file is completed, the RPi sends a data blip to the PC and the program would access and print the file out automatically, then delete the file on the TIPI SD card, or even copy the file to a dedicated directory on the PC.. configurable by the user of course.

You got that right! In fact using TI99Dir with the TIPI over a mapped network drive is the fastest (I believe) method to list off a program using modern equipment. Below is a real-time example of myself printing off a 9 page listing. It's a real short video, so you get the idea!

Never having joined Facebook I have no clue to how they operate. I also do not want to know who the banned person is. I would like to know however what offense a person must commit to get them booted from the platform.

In case anyone can use these, here ya go... TI Related Transparent Images.zip

Please don't make it too hard, arthritis limits and inhibits game play.

It looks nice, but it's backwards (my opinion). If the joystick cannot be in my right hand, there is no use in my playing because my left hand is not up to the task. Button on the left, joystick on the right, then I least have half a chance...
-
A program like that would awesome for the TIPI. Imagine running a program that would scan all subdirectories, the programs within each subdirectory and send a listing to Pi.PIO. If any duplicates of the same size are found the program could put an asterisk in the first column of the printout next to the filename.

There is one I used to use all the time that required three drives... DSK1. The program itself and some associated files. DSK2. Graphics required by the program. DSK3. Logging of data generated by the program. IIRC it ran in Extended BASIC and also needed the CorComp Triple Tech Card.
