"Sleeper" TI-Games (already in .BIN format)
Omega-TI replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
It seems to work fine - AND - it's fun to play! 👍 THANKS! -
Yeah, I've been using it for quite a while, I just forgot how I had set everything up over time. With the reinstall I'm covering old ground like it's new. I prefer to use the TIPI version because once I'm done I hit reset and I'm instantly back in Force Command.

"Sleeper" TI-Games (already in .BIN format)

Do you have a link for the Connect Four .BIN? I could not readily find it. -
I thought everything was kopescetic, but was having mouse issues with 9.3 not working as well. A direct load did not work, neither did the call, but once I went back to using the loader, everything worked. WEB

What are some really good sleeper games for the TI? I'm not the biggest gamer on the planet, but I'll be getting away for a few days and want to try some "different but good" things. So, any suggestions of what cartridge images I should put in the FG99 for the trip? Oh, and OLDCS1, no need to mention Zero Zap! Due to space limitations I'll not be taking a joystick, trackball or PC keyboard.

One thing about having to start over, it forces me to remember stuff and it affords me the opportunity to "do things right". Now I'm using the CALL command to load many of the programs I use. I'm seriously going to have to learn how to make an .ISO from my TIPI SD card someday. That way if things ever get FUBAR'ed again, it'll be a relatively quick fix. Dunno why the Mouse did not work in 9.4, but fell back to 9.3 and all is well.

I think this comes under the heading of: USAGE & SUPPORT Please, do not be neglectful like I was, especially before an update... Reminder.mp4

Again, with me not being a programmer, I'm still beginning to suspect a single 'error trapping routine' inserted into a 'single and proper place' (wherever that is) will correct the problem. It's not my place, but I'm thinking a poll of actual users answering about a dozen questions could speed up and help pinpoint the diagnosis. And since I have nothing else to offer, I'll bow out of this conversation.

They keeping you busy @Crazy Climber? -
I've always wondered why people cared so much about the same product having a different sticker on it. Like the "wafer" nonsense, if the product works, does it really matter to the average end user? Now, due do previous actions of a certain individual, if I suspect that the individual/company may be using a purchase as leverage in some sort of legal posturing, that could hurt the community as a whole, I would never support that individual/company or purchase an item from such an individual/company. In my mind, not wanting to unwittingly become part of the problem, and believing it's better to be safe than sorry, I would simply walk away. This is of course is just my opinion.

I'm wondering. Is there anyway to turn the update notification off until the problem is resolved? I'd prefer not to get that reminder popping up on the screen because sure as shooting, if I'm tired, and close to falling asleep at the computer, which does happen, I may press the "U" button without even thinking.

@jedimatt42 I'll keep a spare SD card handy for testing purposes for if/when you need feedback on a potential fix.
-
Me too. Matt made one of those rare gadgets that if it disappeared tomorrow, all the fun would go away.
-
Good to know. I'll apply his update and keep that as my working copy for the TIPI/32K.
-
Thanks, I'm trying to download the 1.61 image now. If I remember correctly it should top out at 1.65 in an update. My pooter say's 27 minutes to go!
-
Sorry for the misinterpretation Matt, it's nothing against your software, it was just the frustration of all the time invested thinking I was stupid and couldn't follow basic directions. Not being a programmer, I cannot say with certainty, but I'd be willing to guess it has more to do with the new Raspian Kernal than anything else. If other people running RPI 3's are not having an issue, I would think it has more to do with the new OS not liking Pi Zeros.

Yeah, I just got done reinstalling TIPI 2.3 (I didn't even update to 2.4). The first thing I did was load the TELNET program and sonofa-B, same $hite. 😟
-
It looks like I'm going to have to start over with a new SD card, reformat, reflash and re-install 2.3 'buster' then expand the file system, then upgrade to 2.4 all over again. For some strange reason sometimes when I turn on the TIPI it comes up showing a CRU base of 2000 instead of 1000 and it cannot find the network. After a reboot it comes up on showing the correct CRU base of 1000 and it finds the network... BUT... when I load TIPI.NET.TELNET I connect to Heatwave BBS, but nothing comes back. I found an earlier SD card with version 1.41 of the Rpi software and everything works as expected. I cannot even guess at what is going wrong. TIPI 2.4/TELNET failure I'm also wondering if TELNET got corrupted on the new somehow... I think I'll copy over the programs from the other TIPI to this one first and see if that corrects the problem before I go through the time consuming process of a total reinstall. --- EDIT -- NOPE that did NOT work. It appears to be something wrong with my 'buster' version. I'll re-download the file and start over this evening
