  1. Sort of like a mouse... Hmmm... Ya know, I believe the time is actually right for a mouse interface for the 5200! 1) There are some games that a mouse would work well. 2) Not everyone has the real estate for a huge trackball. 3) Not everyone can afford those ridiculous Ebay prices.
  2. USB DB9 Adapter It might be nice to use a cheap USB mouse to play Missile Command.
  3. ... or a directory starting with a specific character.
  4. Oh wow, cool concept. I have two TIPI's myself and think it would be so cool if they could sync all files between each other automatically... except those starting with a specific character.
  5. I was asked a real STUPID(my opinion) TI-99/4A related question today. The question was, "Can the TI be interfaced with a spare CD/DVD device to read and store programs or watch movies?" The first things that instantly popped into my head were... 1) WHY would anyone want to watch movies on the TI at a drastically reduced resolution and a degraded image? 2) The TI cannot process fast enough in "real time" to pull it off. 3) Why would anyone want to store programs on a CD-RW when we have fast, cheap and much larger SD cards to play with? The drivers alone needed just to store and retrieve programs seem like they would be a nightmare, I figured it would require new hardware as well. I immediately answered, "No" and I should have ended it at that, but then I added, "Why would you even want to try?" His reply was, "Well you seem to hook everything else up to that old obsolete pile of junk". Sigh... sometimes senior citizens drive me NUTS! That is the last time I'll ever demo Dragon's Lair to anyone! Sorry @Tursi!
  6. Ooooh, I'm getting excited... it's made it to the "Left Coast"!
  7. So the UberGROM really could easily track temperature, humidity and barometric levels (with supporting circuitry and components). +1
  8. You know, I was pondering what you said there, and I realized it's not really that bad. I'll use 1977 as an example, only because that was my peak P-Box building year... But this is for the whole kit with reusable stuff like Arduino or RPi frames, mounting brackets, on a much improved and larger build platform. Now say for a second you wanted to permanently use one of these tops for a project... Now if you simply wanted to make an "official sized" recreation of a kit, you could order the small sized one in red... I think that puts it into perspective a little bit better.
  9. Scratch that! It's currently set to arrive on the 27th... MY DAY OFF! Yessssssss, so the video might be done and posted by the 28th! 🤞
  10. Agreed! It's open to everyone... even you lurkers out there. Take a pic, show us anything TI.
  11. Did you know that kit has been modernized complete with links in the remake of the manual for parts sources like Mouser & DigiKey? 3 Transister SW Radio.pdf
  12. Agreed! One of the draws for me is that the entire project can mounted on it at one time and easily moved for storage when not actively being used. It's also good looking enough to keep a completed project on for display.
  13. My kit should arrive in a couple of weeks, so I'll be posting a video on it shortly thereafter, so I'll address the hole spacing and other stuff as well.
  14. HA! Well, it's still cheaper than some people are selling those old Radio Shack P-Box kits for on Ebait. That $59.00 is for the starter kit, you don't have to buy that kit with all the pieces. In fact he also sells a smaller one more reminiscent of the original P-Box << HERE >>
  15. From a strictly nostalgia point of view you can relive your youth by making some of those old projects. It's larger than those old P-Box kits though and looks a heck of a lot better too, but there are quite literally hundreds of projects a person could make with this thing, in fact there are people who download the PDF's of the old P-Box manuals and make some of those same old projects. For instance << HERE >>.
  16. The board itself lends itself quite nicely to point to point soldering of discrete components as well as switches, knobs etc., and has mounting hardware to support RPi's, Arduinos, protoboards, small LCD monitors and the like. Yes. It even has mounting holes on the back for assorted power inputs.
  17. Most of my electronics activity was mid 70's to mid 80's before computers took me away. So I'm more of a point to point to point soldering kind of guy, with very little breadboarding experience. I like this thing because it supports entry level construction techniques as well as being a supporting platform for more in-depth and modern projects and even hybrid designs. The fact that it can match the TI is another plus. You can check it out << HERE >> Gotta blaze for now, I have to run to the store.
  18. Yeah, but we are surrounded by geniuses here on AA. If someone wanted to design code for a project, I'm sure we would suck it up like we have everything else.
  19. Well considering it's made by @COREi64 I doubt it's wobbly. I'll know in a couple of weeks as mine has been shipped. I'm also making a video on it.
  20. No, I'm just looking for a project to MAKE and USE, like the TIPI, I just use what I can.
  21. You could mount it all on the new TI-99/4A matching project board.
  22. Already have that, I'm thinking more of an interface, diagnostics device, or something else?
  23. I'm wondering what we could do with the << RPi Pico >> hooked to a TI?
  24. I'm up for ANYTHING at this point, but that sounds good to me!
