That scramble clone is TRULY IMPRESSIVE!
I must be turning into an old fart though, I could not get it to fire down at an angle, only straight ahead.

Check out MIKSOFT's Mobile Media Converter (www.miksoft.net). It is free and works wonders with the same ffmpeg engine most utilities use as well as mencode. I use it to convert files from many different sources and formats to mp4 and 3gp, including DVD and VOBs, for use with my Sony Ericsson phone, including ripping sound from videos. I also has a built-in YouTube downloader. 3g2 (Samsung Restore Video) is listed as an option, but not with a default profile (you will have to set one up.)
Thanks for the info!

I'll give it another shot later on this the week to try to figure out how to set one up. I tried downloaded it and gave it a shot (rather quickly) before work. I found a 3GP format, but the phone would not recognize it. I'd like to be able to convert a few things to stick in the phone besides .MP3's and JPG's.
Hell, if anyone has one they want to send me "for testing", I'll give it a shot to see if it works.
Wetransfers work great... -
I wish I had seen this post earlier.
I am really craving a TI. Good deal on that one imho.
Lloyd
Yes, that WAS a good deal, only $31.28 for a nearly mint beige model. If I see another one come along I'll post it here, so just press FOLLOW THIS TOPIC at the top of the page, and whenever someone posts an EBAY item that's worth going for, you'll get an email.

Good Luck!

Speaking of off topic items...
Does anyone know of, or can they recommend a (hopefully free) program, that can change some of the more commonly used video formats like .WMV or MP4 to the .3g2 format for a cellphone?
Thanks!

I would almost guarantee that this is the Hardware store that all of this stuff is coming out of--and it explains a lot. Especially as it is in the right town--Waterloo, IA. Dhein's was one of the largest TI dealers out there--not as big as Triton, Tenex, Unisource, or Tex-Comp, but there probably wasn't anyone between them size-wise. Joy Electronics, the original Competition Computers, Texin-Treasures, and Elek-Tek were probably all a bit smaller--and lots of nice things were squirreled away in their stock too!
It makes me wonder how long all these goodies will last. Being able to get so much NEW stuff 30 years after TI gave us all the middle finger is like winning cosmic the lottery.

Sad to see the thread stripped. None the less, I will be attending the Faire this year. Got a good deal on a flight, though not as good as it could have been since I have an exam Monday morning so I have to leave Sunday.
See everyone that Saturday.
Please take lots of pictures! I'm sure many of us would like to see what we are missing!

... it has no value to me at that price.
I agree it's not even the improved Micro Pinball II. One can download Micro Pinball for FREE at: http://tigameshelf.net/asm.htm
I just wish I could find a copy of MP2 for my Nano.

I asked Paul if I could scan it in to put it online, but the answer is that it is his call, which is why I just put the teaser here, Tim

Okay, it's been nearly a month, what's the verdict?
Are we mere mortals going to be able lay eyes on the TI equivalent of the Gutenberg Bible?

They're out tonight!
Check this out.....
A dude wants $4.06 + $1.99 shipping for a rough, used, rubber foot ripped off the bottom of a TI!

Woo Hoo! What a bargain!
** EDIT ** 3 1/2 months later he still has it up... but he raised the price to $4.41. What a schmuck (IMHO).

Hey All,
Excuse me for butting in, especially since I'm not a programmer. But the first three things that came to my mind when reading this thread were, "So what?", "Who gives a rip?" and "Big freaking deal!"
1st - 95% of the people who buy this device will NEVER have a reason, cause, or need access that so-called "GPL RAM"
2nd - The F18A appears functionally compatible with the 9918A, 9938 and 9958 devices.
3rd - It appears to run ALL legacy software, so what's the big deal?
4th - Only one person that I know of on the planet seems to have an issue with what appears to be a truly trivial matter.
5th - Like Tursi said, it was not designed to have expanded RAM like the 9938 or 9958 devices.
6th - That "GPL" RAM is just a bonus if you want to play with it (if I understand correctly) It's not an advertised feature.
A) In my reading of these forums, I've seen a lot of these older RARE cards (that still work), cost a FREAKING FORTUNE. Matthews card is truly affordable, (hey, I bought one if that tells you anything). If it were not for Matthew and his F18A, the majority of us would not have decent quality output for our "Real Iron" boxes.
B) There are routines that have been developed to scan for what type of card is in use, so in the future *IF* anyone wishes to exploit this "GPL RAM", they can learn it, just like they learned BASIC, Assembly, FORTH or that other rarely used language on the TI, while remaining compliant with the other cards.
I guess the old adage is true, "No matter how great something is, you can't please everyone." As for me, I SEE NO ISSUE HERE.

I would have to say no.
Okay, thanks Matthew. It's not really like I needed programmer (at least at the moment). At that price I thought it might be handy to have one around in case it was ever needed. I guess I'll pass for now.
I've still not gotten around to installing mine yet either! I do want to thank you though, for devoting so much time and effort into designing and building that little gem. From what I've read that little device of your has made quite a few people VERY HAPPY! I know I will be too.

Nice little flyer, it made me smile. Maybe as a group we could come up with something like this to put up to advertise this little corner of the Atari Age site? I know there has to be other TI'ers that have not been active in years. All it would take is something to get them to CLICK and come here.
Once they see this place, Tursi's emulator, all the goodies like the F18A, NanoPEB, and all the news software, they'll be addicted again.

In case anyone is interested, there is a REAL Super Space cartridge in what looks to be excellent shape on Ebay right now.
-
Matthew, is this the gadget required to do updates to the F18A?
If so, it seems rather inexpensive with free shipping and all.
-
I will probably not hold onto the single cartridge, though selling it I am likely to see a loss.
You may be surprised at how fast, or for how much it will go for!
Awhile back there were multiple people asking about getting a Super Cart. I'm not sure all of the demand was met.
Heck, if you are going to have an Editor Assembler Cartridge, it might as well be a Super Space/Super Cart.
-
If anyone is into "Home Brew" and wants to make an 8K Super Cart or a 32K Super Cart of their own, or just what's to learn about them, these two Do-It-Yourself links have the best detailed instructions I''ve seen yet.
1) http://www.mainbyte.com/ti99/supercart/supercart.html <------------ 8K Cartridge
2) http://www.mainbyte.com/ti99/supercart/supercart_4bank.html <-- 4X8 or 32K Cartridge

Hey Slinkeey ,
Thank's for the excellent topic idea... it works for me!

-
I just went there (like 30 seconds ago) to see if anyone had bid on it yet. It appears the auction was ended. The reason given
was, "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing."[/size]j So I guess he did the right thing after all.

If you want to see: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F221289905067

The answer was along the line of: thanks for the info, but here's one that sold for buchu bucks back in May, with this link:
He said that wasn't an example and told me not to bid on his auction. Oh well, it looks like another clueless treasure hunter lives on eBay.
My --> OPINION <-- for what it's worth, is that since he's been told it's not legit, and continues on with that super-high minimum bid, is that he is someone with lousy ethics who does not mind taking advantage of people.
I wonder how he would feel if the shoe was on the other foot and someone screwed him over? I've never been able to understand how people can do that to someone else.

Tursi,
It looks good dude, but I have to ask, what was the music being played in the video? It was nice, simple, clean and restful.
-
I have an empty Speech Synthesizer case in Hexbus style (and a pair of the Hexbus interfaces--one very early model and a later one that was feature complete), so I can at least look at the problem. If it is too big, I may have to scout out a larger pressure vessel than the one I have or work with the one I have on a side frame to use more of the vertical volume effectively.
http://atariage.com/forums/topic/193163-512k-cartridge-status/
HEXBUS ALERT!! EBAY!!
You mean like this? If only I had the money and the ability to make a mold of THIS! This with a few mods could be the solution to so many future endeavors!

Being able to execute programs is nice as well.
One of my favorite things is that I can run EA/3 or EA/5 games from a simple batch file with one button press.
I'm also really looking forward to using it in 80 column mode with my F18A.

I'm with you on this one, we must be misunderstanding what he is saying. I've always understood that VGA stood Video GRAPHICS Array, nothing to do with text really. Now some of the early computers had a "Page White Display", but it was more of a marketing thing to do with the resolution (aimed at the word processing market) and of course the connector, which for a VGA is a 15 pin arrangement. VGA in the early days was defined as a minimum of 256 colors, where EGA was 16 simultaneous colors and CGA was just crap and not worth mentioning. Later came SVGA and others. I sure do not miss the era of those old monochrome jobs which WERE for text, and they came in three flavors, B&W, GREEN and AMBER, which always looked orange to me.
