UGH! Shipped to my office, the building is closed today and USPS attempted delivery. Might not be able to get it until Monday

But, yeah, it is a good reason to open up the console. While I am in there I will probably fix the CAPS LOCK key, too.
Mine is scheduled to be delivered today (while I'm at work).
I'll be right with you on the CAPS LOCK fix. I'll also be installing a reset button too, as I guess it'll be needed once in awhile.
The sad part is I'm going to be to busy to get around to installing it for at least a couple of weeks.

There are more F18A boards available now if anyone is still waiting.
I see half of them are sold already too! Man, ya gotta jump on these when the going is good!

You read my mind. I have been thinking about this for a while. A customer of mine has a 3D printer and I have been tempted to get him involved...
I have a feeling quite a few of us are thinking the same thing. A TI friend of mine from Olympia and I were talking about 3D printed objects for the computer just the other day. There are so many possibilities that it just boggles the mind. But to have a couple of pre-made standardized HexBus type cases would be a good start. The hardware guys could have a field day.
Could you imagine a little HexBus type case between the TI and the Nano-PEB that would hold the speech, as well as a miniature floppy controller with a 3.5" drive built-in as DSK4? I doubt it would have to be any wider than the standard HexBus case, especially if the drive was vertical. One would truly have the best of both worlds. As much as I like my Nano-PEB, I find that it would be nice to save a couple of things to floppy now and then. But for right now I'd settle on a decent case for the Nano-PEB.

A TI-99/4A Peripheral Expansion Unit!!!
If only I had the room for it!

Hi All,
I need your help in compiling a list of programs that support 80 column mode on the F18A.
So far I have the following:
CF2K
4A DOS
BOOT
Turbo Forth
... and I've heard rumors of a hacked Multiplan.
Does anyone have any experience or first hand knowledge of other programs?

I haven't experimented further to see how much you can get away with that concept (playing digitized audio interrupted at 60hz for gameplay). Of course, it DOES take a lot of memory, but we have lots of memory on cart these days.

Yeah, I kind of thought the bottle neck would be sound interrupting the free-flow execution of a program. Not being an programmer like you guys it was just a guess. About the only program remember I seeing anything even close to this was Parsec, with it's built-in speech. I'm assuming embedding explosion sounds would be done the same way as speech, correct?

While the price of 3D printers is coming down, designing the objects has always been one of the main hurdles. Now there is a device that scans objects for replication. The drawback, it looks like it only scans smaller items: http://store.makerbot.com/digitizer.html
So I'm not sure if it will even do a TI cartridge case, let alone replicate a larger HexBus case. But who knows, in a year or two we may be able to do some interesting things.
It would be so cool if someone could scan one of these and make it easily available for users to purchase and put their own projects in.
I can see the day when someone has 100 or so blank prototyping type circuit boards made up that will fit inside one of these cases, can you imagine the things that could or might be built.

(the guys comments about the poor use of sound are spot on)
I have a question about sound in TI games. I know the ability and program exist to record samples and convert them into something the TI can use, but would digitized sounds be too big or difficult to utilize effectively? Would it slow things down too much? I can just imagine actual explosions in a remake of some future game. That would be awesome!
My problem is I'm just so blown away with all the knowledge and talent of the guys on here like Tursi, Rasmus and Mathew, that I keep forgetting about the actual hardware limitations. These guys have proven time and time again that nothing is impossible, which is why I always expect to see them give these limitations the figurative bird once again and come out with something else that is new and improved to blow my mind yet again.
Damn, if only these guy were around in the mid 80's to 90's things would have been a whole lot different.

The only changes will be bug fixes at this point. If you want to very latest firmware, then I'd say wait. But as of right now I am not aware of any bugs. If I ever get the in-place update written, then it won't matter.
Okay, I noticed on the receipt that it is now at version 1.5. I wondered what might have been different, if anything. Now I know, thanks!

I know some of you have been waiting for this moment, so I thought I'd do the neighborly thing let you all know...
There a couple of F18A's available! >> AT THIS LINK << as of the time this post.
I have no financial interest or affiliation with the seller; I just thought it would be nice to inform those who may be interested.

Can't beat that one on the TI, but perhaps with a little help from the F18A? ...
Well, once I get an F18A and if the program looks play's like that, I'll BUY a copy!

Tonight is the night for TI's!
This one listed below in a BEIGE model, it HAS been opened, but looks pretty nice. I have no clue if it's a QI model or not.
It's +$15.00 for shipping. As of this post it's at $12.00...

This might be of interest to the guy with the broken TI, or anyone else for that matter.
This appears to be a NEW TI, in the box with the seal intact. NO RESERVE

For all you CHROME users, a TI-99/4A theme for your browser.....

I found a HUGE MONSTER of a TI-99/4A picture with hyper-resolution to put on a T-Shirt.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fb/TI99-IMG_1680.jpg
Download that one!
The resolution in 5,000 X 5,000 basically around 20MP!

i just founded in these days a company that should print them last two and the Parsec T-Shirt...
i am finishing the hiRes picture for printing the first prototype...
I'm addicted to Vista Print. ANYTHING I upload to them, they will put on a T-Shirt, bill my PayPal account and send me in about a week.
I recently had this one done...What sucks was the URL on the bottom of this one became obsolete about a week or so after it arrived.-

If you have a CF/nanopeb, make sure you use the FWEB modified for the devices.
A modified FWEB for the NanoPEB? That woke me up from my living coma! Are we talking a COM1/V2 version? If so, where would I obtain such a copy? I've never really played with FWEB before; it might be interesting to have something to try out while I'm waiting for the next batch of F18A's to be made.

Here's one without.
That just looks sad.
Without the 'Solid State Software' badge it looks like a poor stripped down Plain-Jane Chevy.
-
Now I just need a way to do EA/3 (Atari disk, etc.) without EA.
Good luck with that!
Heck, it may be possible, I've never seen it, but if it exists, I'd like a copy myself.I load my E/A 3 games from a batch file menu by pressing one button under 4A DOS, but then again the Super Cart is a modified E/A cartridge.
-
*sigh* It just is not meant to be tonight. So, off to bed and I will try again tomorrow.
Did you ever get a copy? If not let me know and I'll set up a WeTransfer this weekend when I have time.

Any chance I can solicit an Extended BASIC loader for Mr. Chin?
The BOOT MENU loader program on the ALTMAN:211 disk works just fine for that. In fact I use it to load Mr. Chin, Titanium, and all my other games from Extended BASIC or the Editor Assembler as it works in both.

A standard setup could pull from disk; an advanced setup could use the memory.
Many ways to skin the cat...
Very true. Also with many people having switched to virtual disks in emulators like Classic99, using Nano's or CF7's or even other solid state drive replacements for legacy devices, speed is already improved in the 'standard setup' already.

*RED ALERT * -- F18A's available!

Really? Only one left already! Like I'm sure that will make it through the weekend.... NOT!
