There are none. There is not enough memory currently available on the F18A to support anything useful in 80 columns.
THAT is truly disappointing, as the configuration I'm going for is a NanoPEB/F18A combination. So basically you are saying that all I'll get is a 'pretty picture' and not much else? I was hoping, at the very least, to get an 80 column version of TI-Writer. I think I'm beginning to understand why so many people have gone to 100% emulation.
Everytime I turn around I discover I need to buy something else. So far, I have to get an F18A, SuperCart & Joysticks in that order.
I really like Classic99 where I can assign the joystick to the keyboard if I want to.

So as not to pollute the F18 info thread I'm starting this thread for random F18A related questions!
Good idea!
My question is: Has anyone compiled a list, and download locations, of programs that exploit the 80 columns supported by the F18A?
If so, what is the URL for the resource?i -
I've seen video game remakes over the years, some for pretty obscure games, some for even more obscure computer systems. In all that time, I have never seen a remake of Parsec! I know the TI was not the most popular or well known machine, but it was not scraping the bottom of the barrel either. Could it be that no one wants to screw with perfection?

It was such an amazing game back when...,
I remember this game on the PC from way, back!
Once you learned to bring bartering stuff, and to to stay away from the trading posts, where you would catch all the nasty illnesses and die, it was fairly easy to win.

I have to admit, I'm amazed with the rabid devotion to the TI keyboard!
I actually thought the majority of people would embrace a full-sized, wireless, modern keyboard, ESPECIALLY if a matrix translator could change mouse movements into arrow key commands, which would give the user FUNCTIONAL WIRELESS MOUSE CONTROL ON ALL EXISTING TI PROGRAMS that use arrow keys.

I hear ya, the keyboard on my new Dell laptop just plain SUX to use! I went out and bought >> THIS << wireless keyboard. It has full travel keys, makes the click sound and has little folding feet to get the keyboard 'at the right angle'. It was also reasonably priced. The beauty of the wireless keyboards is that one can get ANYTHING to suit their personal tastes.
You know it also makes me wonder, with the unifying receiver, a guy might be able to get a MOUSE to work with the TI too! Talk about a BONUS!
The programming on the interface chip could translate mouse movement into arrow key commands. The FIRE key could be the right click and the left could be the ENTER. key. One little project could add so much more utility into the TI.
I've been preferring the Cherry keyboards G80-3000L with linear characteristics for many years now, withstanding all kinds of new super-flat keyboards with almost no more key travel and weird click point feelings.
I think I know why: The TI keyboard also has a linear key travel with a quite similar feel ... maybe some kind of imprinting on me in those early days. :-)

(Cherry has an abundance of different keyboards with similar names, so if you are interested you have to carefully study the specs.)

Easy to remove the keyboard and use a length of ribbon cable to extend it to a couple of feet from the console. Two long bolts through two of the keyboard mounting lugs to give it a bit of tilt, and four sticky feet to stop it sliding around. Job done.
While that idea might be functional, I have to say it would not 'fit in' with my decor!

There is room on top of the clamshell, inside the console for a wireless keyboard interface such as this. In fact I think it would be very possible to make it a parallel arrangement, where the original keyboard would remain functional as well. From all basic appearances, it would LOOK like a standard unmodified console, only the user would know and enjoy the difference.
BTW... Can you imagine what the programming dudes could do with the function keys?

Since this forum seems to have the largest gathering of TI Uber Hacker's, I thought I'd ask this question here....
Would it be really difficult to build an interface that could work with one of those tiny USB Keyboard receivers?
I imagine the PCB would have to hold a socket for the USB receiver, a chip for the program to translate the keyboard matrix and an output.
Of course it would also require a simple place to tie in for the power, so a small voltage step-down circuit would probably also be necessary.
I imagine this pretty much being a plug and play device for the end-user, except for the power connection, but hey, if you cannot solder two little wires.....
I've read many complaints over the years about the TI keyboard, this could be a solution. Has anyone ever considered this before? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Maybe Google is trying to kill .gif?
That would be real dumb, as it's a free format, size makes it optimal for cellphones and they are 'in', check out these links..

Weird, but sure enough!
I'm looking forward to updates on the Gameshelf! Of course I'll use Firefox on my next visit....
There seems to be a new issue with Chrome displaying the tigameshelf.net site. Any screenshot with a capitalized .GIF extension does not display, whereas lower case .gif extensions display just fine.

Excellent! I'll check back into your site on a regular basis for the next few weeks. You take PayPal? ;
I am out right now, but I have 4 on the bench to be tested and the stock will be updated soon.

I hope I'm not being politically incorrect by making the following non-purist suggestion, but WHY limit the project to backward compatibility with TI hardware? One person already mentioned the Nano-PEB already as a speed-access solution. Does the F18A video not have a little more 'punch' that could be utilized?
I'd be more than happy to shell out some money for a 'Wolfenstein-Like' game.
The only problem I see is the severe lack of F18A's. If a game like this became available, you can bet there would be a growing demand for the video upgrade kit.

"I have never seen any other "Music Maker" data/songs"
Believe it or not, I have an old DS/DD diskette with Music Maker on it and a copy of Greensleeves as the only song (made by my ex-wife over 23 years ago). I had the chance to get it converted about a month ago and passed on it, now I regret doing so because I know now that someone could have used it. Next time I meet up with my friend I'll ask him if he can convert it for us.

The Quantum Leap music file was great! It brought back a lot of memories from that time period.
I'm slowly getting back into the TI (after 23 years) and have been looking for an XBasic sound file, with NO LUCK. It was called "Enter Sandman", it sounded better than the original groups music because there were no lyrics!

I'm assuming of course that you are talking about a "Sam's Card" for the P-Box... which I do not have.
As of now I know 4A DOS will do 80 column, SuperCart (required).
The CF2K will 'DISPLAY' text files in 80 columns (unable to get a working copy so far as it seems to get corrupted when zipped somehow on the authors end).
