  1. I'm short of ideas at the moment, but it occurs to me, one practical or useful project could be a board that plugs into the UberGROM with a temperature sensor or possibly even with a barometric and humidity sensor that works with a program on the 49F040. It could all fit inside of a special 3D printed case. I bet many of you have some old tech like this hanging on your wall at home. It might be kinda of neat to have the TI do it! I bet it could be done on a spare bare bones TI you have hanging around the house.
  2. Oh... and concerning UPS, it's partly their drivers...
  3. Over the years there have been some electronic projects developed for the TI-99/4A. Some of these projects are massive in scale, like the TIPI, so beyond the capabilities of most here. Then there have been some simple projects, like Vorticon's model rocket launcher for the TI. I'd like this thread to become a combination repository for projects, and a place to hookup, discuss and even make some electronic projects that can interface with the TI in "ONE WAY OR ANOTHER". And in the hope of more active participation, I'm asking the electronics engineers here to "please dumb it down a little" so others not at your level, or just starting out can feel free to get their hands dirty, learn and build along with us. So, to hopefully get the ball started, does anyone have an idea for a low to moderately priced project?
  4. I didn't buy it today, but it did arrive today...
  5. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't consistently suck at doing their jobs. I mailed an item to a friend in December that never arrived, so I burned a couple more and sent them out as well. He got the second set, but no word about the first. Now Ping-Ponging the mail is nothing new in my neck of the woods, a few years ago an item went back and forth between Portland and Seattle THREE FREAKING TIMES before it was finally delivered. Still, I think I have more respect (which is very little), for the USPS than I do for UPS. /rant mode off
  6. Inventory Management (full manual) in PDF format. Converted from @blackbox scans. Inventory Management Manual.pdf
  7. An F18A version would probably blow them all out of the water, if the Rasmus' Mario Bros. port/demo is any example.
  8. I'd get lost with all those wires poking out like that... and what a nightmare ever finding a fault! I liked the old Radio Shack P-Box kits as a kid, but they were too small for the really good projects. I used perf board as I got older, but honestly those red boxes and perf boards never looked classy enough to show off my latest pride and joy. Over the years, projects that use discrete components began to disappear, but now many of the new items are combining user assembled components again with pre-existing tech like Raspberry Pi, Arduino's and other stuff. Now even when you find a P-Box on Ebay, the sellers want too damn much for them. Recently one guy had a P-Box with a reserve of over $60.00... he's relisted it several times. Too small, too expensive and look way too cheap. The new version is classy... and if I ever make a project for the TI-99/4A... it'll match! 😋 I'm really into this new base & design, but as I look for my first project, I'm wondering, is there anything TI-99/4A related anyone has been sitting on that could use a platform like this? 9. Since I mention this here a couple of days ago, I figured now that it's available, I should post the link. So, << HERE IT IS >> So now if you want to design, make/build any project, you can do with a little organization and style. Man this gets me excited! What R U gonna make?
  10. A dream come for many of us! Who says you cannot relive the fun of your youth, "slightly updated" for 21st century technology! << MY NEW FAVORITE LINK >>
  11. << This is an Arduino based MicroComputer Trainer >> based off the old Radio Shack model @Vorticon has... In a few days there will be a cool new platform to build your projects on too!
  12. I might do this, it seems like a shame after all the effort I put into obtaining and restoring a couple of them, but I gotta get rid of stuff. (sigh)
  13. I dunno if it's over engineered or not, but the fact that they've held up over the decades is a testament to their quality.
  14. Have you heard that new band 999 Megabytes?
They're good, but they don't have a gig yet.

      bluejay

BUT THE JOKE WOULD WORK SO MUCH BETTER IF THE BAND NAME WAS 1023 MEGABYTES BECAUSE A GIGABYTE IS REALLY 1024 MEGABYTES YOU SEE NOW THAT'S FUNNIER ISN'T IT I THOUGHT SO P.S. I ONLY USE LINUX EXCLUSIVELY

No, they "still" don't have a Gig yet, at 999.

I think "1023 Megabytes" throws the joke off too early, makes even slightly less than dumb people "think a little more", so you won't get your punchline in properly.

      Just sayin'.

  15. Yeah, posts like that get just enough attention to pass on by.
  16. Why aren't iPhone chargers called Apple Juice?

Or maybe iJuice for that matter?  Eww.

Because the real "Apple Juice" is...inside your wallet

  17. What do you do after your Nintendo game ends in a tie?  It's simple, ask for a Wii-match!

  18. I cannot remember who it was, but a few years back there used to be someone selling TI stuff, that after he sold a couple he would raise the price, making it look like people actually paid the obscene amount, which they didn't. I considered it quite deceptive.
  19. I didn't know people still used checkbooks, but here is the PDF of @blackbox's always awesome scans. Checkbook Manager.pdf
  20. I'm a little envious that you have room to display boxed cartridges! I'm in the process of downsizing and am trying to get rid of stuff that I no room for, but some items are not worth the effort to ship, like the nice backup P-Box, so it simply sits taking up room. (sigh)
