Oh, I KNOW EXACTLY what you mean!

@GDMike How many functions do you use on that << 5.25 Dashboard >>? Besides monitoring the P-Box temperature and controlling a couple of fans, it looks like a guy could... 1) Route the SD card for a TIPI there. 2) Route power to the USB's to charge a cellphone or something. 3) Route audio there for whatever reason. 4) _________________________________________? The price looks reasonable too.

For those only using smartphones for video recording, << THIS LINK >> has an inexpensive solution that will improve your content over 100%.

What do you make of this screen garbage?
Omega-TI replied to pixelpedant's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
With all those $ characters on the screen, I thought it was your TI's way of telling you the repair would not be cheap. -
Ever wonder what the keyboard was really doing?
Omega-TI replied to FALCOR4's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
FCTN-CTRL-SHIFT then S&D -- Might make a great way to enter cheat mode in future games. -
Rasmus has been learning/playing with the SAMS environment for his RAYCASTER, so you never know what the future may hold for a 'revisit'. Of course this is all idle speculation on my part with absolutely no facts to support my statement... only an undying hope.

A portable Atari 800XL! -- Freaking WOW on this one!

Photo! Photo! Photo! - I'd love to see a photo. I'm really, really into classic computers setup as portables. -

NICE! 👍 I've just became aware of this little gem. I tried it out on my beige system and discovered that it's pretty slick! I'll link to this in the FR99/FG99 repository. -
I have an old laptop that I paid a king's ransom for back in the day, today it's next to worthless as my cellphone has more memory and is faster, but I cannot help myself, I have 'issues' getting rid of my old laptops. It originally ran Windows XP, but nothing wanted to work on it anymore, so I slapped Lubuntu on it and now it's only good for browsing AtariAge once in a blue moon. Maybe 'someday' it'll be a dedicated TI emulator.

Freakin-A! I like it. It's fast paced, and I've found so many ways to die, those Zappers though... arrrrrrrrgh!

You've got me beat @Schmitzi, the only unique modification I've done is the temperature gauge and some power switches.

It's automatic now, but you have to use the full link, not the shortcut.

Force Command ver 1.17 : kinda like command.com from 1985
Omega-TI replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
So basically, STFU Omega? No need to share any information that others might find useful, to use in the privacy of their own homes if it goes against the beliefs and/or ideas of another. Got it. -
Force Command ver 1.17 : kinda like command.com from 1985
Omega-TI replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
If individuals develop methods to temporarily get something done/accomplished for themselves in the privacy of their own homes, I don't see the issue, especially if it works or "works for them". Later, as things evolve, and working new functions appear, they can always choose to switch to the new prescribed method(s). Whatever a person decides to do for themselves, be it for consistency, ease of use, or whatever seems cool to me. Different strokes for different folks or as they old saying goes, "There's more than one way to skin a cat". One example is the CALL command that has since been removed, remembering to use CALL for one thing and LOAD for another was, not optimal for me. -

It's only going to be temporary Matt... unless you are so fast you get done before I get home this evening. Ha! 😊 -

Omega-TI replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
When I get home this evening I'll try a work around by putting something on the physical DSK1. and see what happens. There is definitely a FUBAR in this version that will be repaired in the future. Fortunately it will be easy to replace 1.12 with a new version on the FG99. -

Next week I'll re-download and start over again with new copies. There is not much else I can do at this point. -
Are 5200 Controllers As Bad As Everyone Says
Omega-TI replied to Classic Pac's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The later two port units do not require or have that funky switching unit for RF. There are adapter cables to allow you to use a "REAL" analog joystick. And a multicart will save you a boatload of space. -
For sure! Modern TI users lucked out in that respect. Many people bought $50.00 TI's in blow-out sales back in the day, and many more given away. Many people used them once or twice, then summarily tossed them into a closet where they languished for decades waiting for their owners to die and an estate sale so they could see the light of day once again. Now we "older gents" can snap them up on eBay, sometimes for a good price, sometimes not.

Cool topic for a thread, but what exactly is the accepted definition of "modded" for this thread? Very interesting control panel...

For starters, if you don't want to do a lot of hunting and waiting, look for a Black & Silver model model and insure you can see the green PCB of the keyboard and the solder connections. Also the key should have the more "rounded" look to them and not the "squarish" looking keys.

Auto correct can go straight to he'll.

Yes, I put Force Command back in the ROOT directory along with XB28GEMG and the WEATHER80 program. I can load XB28GEMG from the cartridge, select T80XB then manually load TIPI.WEATHER80 and run it, it'll even load up and go to Force Command afterwards. I can even type FG99 XB28GEMG inside Force Command, manually select T80XB, hold down the space key and then type in OLD TIPI.WEATHER80 to run the program. However typing XB TIPI.WEATHER80 results in the blinking LED. Thanks, I'll wait to see what develops.

It normally stands for "Quality Ignored". He was lucky to get one with a decent keyboard.
