Measuring the voltage at J204, I get: -13.01V +4.90V GND -4.95V Is +4.90V close enough, or can this be tweaked up to 5V using a pot somewhere?

I had a chance to work on the Vectrex tonight but I've still got the squeal. I removed the audio preamp and re-seated the flyback's attachment to the monitor. I'm pretty sure that the sound is coming from inside the metal box of the flyback transformer. Other symptoms include: slight zooming in and out of the picture and unstable video. The squeal is not there when the machine is first turned on, but starts about 10-20 seconds after powered on.

Thanks, I will mess around with it a bit and then try bypassing the amp if all else fails. Was your squealing coming from the speakers though? Mine is coming out of the unit itself. I haven't tried smacking it around yet, but I will the next time I have it powered on. That should remind it who's in charge too Don't worry about losing the buzz, it's definitely still a prominent feature but just at a much lower volume than before.

I recapped my Vectrex and installed a debuzz audio pre-amp using console5's kits, and after installing everything seems to be up and working, except for a new high-pitched squealing sound and a faint smell of ozone. The squeal is from inside the Vectrex, not the speaker. I'm going to let it discharge for a couple of days before opening it up for an inspection (and then manually discharging it), but my only guess is that maybe I didn't reconnect the flyback connector to the tube securely enough. Could this be a potential cause of the sound and smell?

Does anyone like to use particular overlays for a range of games? For example, the Rip Off overlay looks like it might work for Webwars, and vice versa. Many others look very similar as well. What are your favorite overlays to mix and match with other games? I'm especially interested to know what homebrew games go well with certain overlays, since I'll have a VecFlash and a small collection of official overlays pretty soon.

Both look beautiful. Great work.

I would like to make a few generic overlays. Since I don't plan on printing on the surface, would it be better to use something like lighting gel sheets instead of transparency paper? It's a lot thicker, but I don't know if it has the same desirable qualities as originals. Here are the gels that I'm considering: http://www.amazon.com/Color-Transparent-Correction-Lighting-Plastic/dp/B004A9PMGE/

That is brilliant. Thanks for the link and pictures.

Great to hear that a few were made. I'm looking forward to getting one eventually.

I'm looking for any Vectrex overlays except for the few that I've tracked down already (below). Not looking for: Berzerk Blitz Football Cosmic Chasm Hyperchase Solar Quest Spike

I'd love to get my GB Boy Colour's stereo audio working correctly through the speaker. Could you explain how to do this? Is there a source for amplified stereo on the board that I can re-wire the speaker to?

New discovery: Get Master Sys ctlrs to work w/ Edladdin Seagull78 adapter
Smoke Monster replied to ave1's topic in Atari 7800
Is the sports pad a nice trackball? Did you run it through the auto-fire adapter too? -
I would email the seller to ask if this is possible. They're very fast to respond to questions.

Fast shipping and great communication. Thanks for the paddles!

I had a great purchase from cvga and highly recommend him. I bought a big haul of 2600 titles from him and they were all clean and tested. I really appreciate the effort he put in to the sale, and the great prices that he made me

Wow!! Bob's Defender is really beautiful.
-
I'd try a different TV before anything else. There's an equally good chance that the 7800 is in need of a repair, so cross your fingers.
-
Ah, I bet that's it. I'll give it another shot and see if I can loosen the lens. Thanks for the help

Feedback: Ms. Pac-Man & Pole Position II
Smoke Monster replied to nosweargamer's topic in Atari 7800
Ms Pac-Man: Hall of Fame Game Such a beautiful looking and great playing rendition of Ms Pac-Man. Pole Position II: "Meh" Game I don't have old memories of this, and I don't really enjoy playing it a lot today. In its defense, it makes a great tech demonstration for the 7800 however. -
It looks great. I'd play that

I'd like to open up an Atari XE light gun to clean it out. I've found two screws on the handle and two under the "Atari XE System" sticker, and one more on the front sight. It won't open easily though, and I'm wondering if the barrel is glued together on the front. Is it safe to force it apart?
