  1. This is pretty impressive - so far it is running TI-BASE without a hitch. Any way to adjust the speed? Also, any way to get it to talk to a HDX server? Has anyone tried CFHDX or even contemplated loading the HDX RS-232 mod DSR?

Thank you!!! This has made my day!!!

  2. hahahaha - I stand in reverence to the master then! I have been working on it for the last couple of hours. So far... I can make this work...

    mame64 ti99_4a -window

I have the roms in the ti99_4a directory, however I can't seem to figure out how -peb:slot2 32kmem is supposed to happen. I just get the Error: unknown option message.

Baby steps I figure - it took me 90 minutes to get this far. Ideally, I need a machine with 32K, floppy and hard disk. Going to try and virtualize my DB environment. I like the possibility of connecting to it with tiimagetool - that would actually solve my data migration and backup problems. Classic99 just crashes with TI-BASE... there is something fundamentally wrong with the IO emulation I a guessing.

In any event - just a few pointers to get me headed in the right direction would be awesome. Such as where can I get the cart images and where do they go? (\cartidges) ???

Is there a single place with recent documentation on getting it going?

How come the -flop1 option is unknown

Sorting through a lot of questions and data from Google but most of it doesn't seem to work.

  3. Interesting, seems that the DSR is at 1000. I tried Fred's DM2K and DU2K on Win994a and they didn't like HDK1. DU2K crashed the emulator, and DM2K just didn't work. Odd. So I was not able to test the ability to make subdirectories. I also tried MDM and it just froze. Are there any other file managers that support hard disks on the TI that I could try? I love DM2K and when I found it - I just stopped looking for something else.

TI-BASE on the other hand seemed to work... I could catalog the device, and manipulate very large database files on it just as I do with my 2880 sector Myarc and Lotharek. When I would CATALOG HDK1. on TI-Base it would show the files, and the little RW box in the corner flickered a lot - as if it was reading a really massive diskette. Had that vibe anyway.

So far Win994a is the only emulator that I am able to run TI-BASE on effectively. It's also the only emulator that supports a hard disk. This is a problem for me, as my main database machine is an old TI-99/4A with a WHT SCSI card and Syquest drive. I used it every day - however, the database files are now larger than a 2880 sector diskette. So my emulator options are getting even smaller.

PM me for the hard disk file if you want to take a look - it's got some of my data on it - so please don't upload to WHT... LOL (unless the world wants an inventory of my junk drawers)

  4. Strange. But this harddisk is empty, isn´t it ?

Yes it is - I am going to experiment with it today. See if it supports files and subdirectories. I'll upload another copy with some stuff on it which should reveal more about it's directory structure.

  5. I would love to see hard disk support in TIimageTool (or dm2k) for win994a hard disk images. I have attached one here...

Although MAME supports track dumps, I would not recommend them either, and advise to stay with sector dumps. I don't know of any occasion where you actually need a track dump. The support was added (by Raphael and then updated by me) for compatibility with PC99.

Apart from that, using HFE images in MAME could be useful when swapping media with the Lotharek.

  6. Well, I'm a TI enthusiast and it was my first computer. However, if I had the room I'd probably look into the Apple ][+ or CP/M machines if I was going to focus on new vintage gear, I moved on from the TI, to the C64, to the Apple ][+ (well, a Syscon), and then a proper ][e before making the jump to IBM compatible gear. I think you'll have fun no matter which computer you choose.

  7. Where might I find the latest copy - does it support RW to disk or hard disk images? Re: tape support, I believe that much of the software I wrote and released back in the day is on WHT as .WAV files in the tape archive and I have tried everything to get them to load into my real machine - no dice. I'd love to see .WAV based tape support - it would be a kick to go back and see if the any of the code I wrote in High School is comprehensible to me as a 52 year old. As a kid - I was a master at Extended Basic... these days, much less so... ;)

  8. The WHT SCSI DSR has a bug that locks up the system whem several directories are being copied. Does the TI freeze up with the scuzzy LED lit ? I believe the magic number is 16 but I cannot remember. The work around was to copy as many directories as the machine could do then reset the TI. There was talk about investigation of the issue but it never came to be.

Nope, actually it's the HDX server that craps out. Apparently, there is some condition that causes some files to not be closed after copy. HDX reaches 6 open files and stops working. So I have to do it piece by piece with DM2K - which is tiresome.

  9. If people can post their various P-GRAM+ versions, I'll collect it all and organize it. I have been experimenting with using CALL PG from BASIC to drop into the P-GRAM menu and dump carts. I was able to do that with the RXB cart I made from a UberGROM board.

    https://www.arcadeshopper.com/wp/?page_id=11#!/PCB-Fetzner-UBERgrom-board-with-49F040-flash-ROM/p/44354004/category=16275020

I have tried loading things into my FlashROM99 - yet when I attempt to dump the cart I only get RAM Bank 1 and 2. (which I would expect) When I load it into the PGRAM I'll usually get the title screen (such as with DM2K) but it locks up right after. Being able to put DM2K or TIMXT into GROM/GRAM storage on a P-GRAM card seems like a cool thing...

I do have a FinalGROM on order - so fussing around with a (more or less obsolete) PGRAM may seem like a waste of time - but hey, it has a clock! :)

    Cheers, Arthur...

  10. I'll look through them - seems I do have a copy of the source code for the 1.0 version dated 10/29/89 and have attached the disk image. These were originally from an ARC file called "PG+SRC2/90" - and I believe I bought my PGRAM+ from Ernie Pergrem

Hi, here are the files I had gathered times ago. Maybe you want to have a look.

If there are doubles, maybe you can give some feedback so that I can delete or rename them.

  11. Interesting - tried the 2.3 DSR and it seems to not have the Y2K fix in it? I wonder if that is something that gets applied after the fact. There is a file on my PGRAM disk called PGRAMY2KAR. So I looked at the hex dump from the two DSR files on our respective disks.

On my disk - the versions are

    PGDSR - ver 2.1 4/01/01

    PGDSS - ver 2.1 4/01/01

On the PGRAM2_3 disk, the versions are

    PGDSR - ver 2.0 10/29/89

    PGDSS - ver 2.x 10/29/89

So there is a chance that the files got mixed up at some point. It seems like your utilities are newer, yet the DSR seems to have same dates as the originally distributed versions.

Do you have a copy of the PGSOURCE arc file?
