  1. I was afraid of that. All my supplies I have stored are either 9V with not enough amps or 12V with right amperage. Damn. Local used game store only has the same retro PSU I already tried
  2. If I have power supplies that are the same specs but not Genesis actual supplies, could I use those to test with? I dont want to buy 2 1602 Power Supplies (they look a bit costly at around 20 bucks each) to find out its another issue that isnt fixable.....
  3. 350MA is what it's labeled as
  4. Having an issue with my Sega CD Model 1 where the unti will seem to power on for a second or two (both red and green lights come on) and it then powers off. If you continue to power on the Genesis attached to the CD, nothing happens until you unplug the system completely and plug it back in or pull the genesis out of the connector with the CD and push it back in. I know after reading varying posts on different sites that the fuse on the Power Board can be the issue, but I have replaced the fuse and it has continuity when tested with a multimeter. I also replaced the resistor that sits to the left of the fuse on the same side of the Power Board and it seems fine in testing. I have tested this with 3 different model 1 Genesis consoles with the same issue happening each time. The connector on the Genesis has been cleaned with an eraser and alcohol to make sure it wasnt the issue as well. I also cleaned all the connectors on the CD (the connectors that attach the main board to the CD, the connectors that attach the main board and power board, and the connectors that attach the Genesis to the Main Board). I am using a 9V RetroVersal Power Adapter for the CD and the Genesis for Power as I dont have a 1602 Power Supply for either. The Power Supply is drawing between 9 - 9.67V when tested. I read somewhere that the CD Unit could possibly cause this due to not being setup right, but I dont remember the specifics or if that is even a correct assumption. Looking for some advice here on what steps I can take next to try and rectify this issue and get the CD working properly. Are there things I can test on the boards themselves?
  5. Thanks man, I will continue to work with it...you mentioned they should always move to the left? Mine has started right a couple times but I know the string wasnt would right as it would immediately either get VERY loose and fall off or pull REAL tight and stop there as teh print head tried to keep moving but couldnt...
  6. I find that mine (right now) when it starts will go to the right or left depending on where the mechanism is when I turn it on...but I dont know if this is due to the way I am stringing it or not? In either case, it gets loose so fast that I have to stop it.
  7. When I am trying to wind these up, if I start on the left side, should the printer mechanism be slid to the far right? Also, when I turn it on once its wound up, what direction should I expect the device to go? I am assuming that since I do the right side second, the mechanism will be to the left side...so should it head right?
  8. I need to replace this Diode in my Sega CD Model 1 to get it working again... The Service Manual says its a diode 1sr-35-100a radial. What exact Diode do I need to buy? This is part D1 on the Power Board of the CD unit...this and the F1 Fuse need replaced and I have the fuse...just need this diode and its working again!
  9. OK, I dont know what I am doing wrong... I tried to wind each side left side first, then right side and I get it wound up and tight. The minute I start to move the printer head back and forth the string gets loose and starts to fall off... I took the pully off the motor as well and tried to wind it up, but cant get it wound and then put back on... Feel like I am screwed, which sucks as if I can just get this part fixed, my Adam should be working!!
  10. One last question....do the strings both wrap in the same direction or are they wrapped in opposite directions on that wheel? I have wrapped it to look like those photos but the minute I move the printer head, the wheel turns and the tightness is gone and the string starts to get looser and looser.
  11. Is there a trick to that or is it just trial and error?
  12. Awesome...thank you for that... Have an issue, hoping I didnt mess this printer up.. I took some parts off to clean the printer completely....when I did the wheels and the string that are on the sides of the printer mechanism came off as the wheels came out, focing the strings to fall. the string isnt ripped or cut, but not setup. I tried to wind them back up by getting all the string out until the end of the string was all that was attached to the center wheel and then slowly turned the wheel bringing both wheels attached to the strings back into their places....but when you try to move the printer mechanism or turn the wheels, it immediately loses its tightness and gets really loose, falling out of the wheels again. Did I screw this thing up or is there a way to get this restrung properly?
  13. Can you pull the keys off the keyboard easily to clean them? I dont want to mess with it before I know...
  14. Thanks a ton for all that...will be checking it out right away! Looks like I need an Adam Floppy drive for that process...dont have one.... I am basically trying to run the diagnostics software on the Adam to see if everything checks out....test it out, make sure things look good before trying to run Data Packs or other software on it...
  15. I thought I read somewhere you could get the Adam to read rom files via an emulator or something? The same way you can attach other systems to a PC or something like that and have it read rom files.... Looking for way to take rom files for the adam and play them on the physical adam....or is this not possible?
  16. Thanks so much for that...will give it a shot. Outside that....what do you recommend for a full cleaning of the machine? Its pretty dirty....
  17. Sorry if this has been posted somewhere..I did a search within this forum for ROM information and couldnt find much on this topic...if there is a thread (as I am a terrible searcher) could you point me to it? What is the trick to getting ROM's to play on a Coleco Adam Computer? I want to run some diagnostics on it once I get it up and running / cleaned. Thanks ahead of time!
  18. Hey all, I tried to hook-up an Adam I picked up last night. When I first turned it on, the printer made its noises and the printer module moved a bit, while the dial spun (sorry if terms are wrong, I dont know this computer that well!). When I typed letters, it would correspond with the letters on paper, albeit about a half second delay between key press and actual printer typing. I turned the system off to move it. When I turn it back on, the printer module now sits to the far left and the dial spins and spins making the same noise until I turn it off. What can I look at to try and fix this? The machine is very dirty, so a cleaning is in order, but aside from that, what can I do / try to get it working properly? If any additional details are needed, just let me know what they are and I can provide them.
  19. Thanks What is the actual best process to change the fuse out? Looks like the one in the supply is attached on both ends to legs that are soldered into the board behind it...is that right? Is it a matter of desoldering it off and then attaching a new one or is there more to it? Also, does Radio Shack have the fuses that are needed?
  20. The Power supplies do the same thing on my 800 and any of my 1050's.....I have other power bricks that are the same and work fine on both.....but I am not an electric expert, so should I not be using them on the 1050?
  21. OK, The fuses have continutiy and look to be not blown... Anything else I can check on the power bricks? I have two with issues.....one has what seems like low power (1050 drive turns on but doesnt read the disks, works fine with other supplies) and the other one does nothing when plugged in... Label on my bricks: Input - 120VAC 60Hz 38VA Output - 9.3VDC At 1.95A
  22. Is there anything that can be done with an 800 / 1050 power supply that doesnt work? I know it was working a few months ago when I last had it out, but when I plugged it in last night, I got no power out of it...tried several different outlets as well.. Anything I can test / look at to try and fix or should I just dump it? EDIT - I read an older thread about a fuse in these and replacing it......what type of fuse does it use?
  23. Its been a while due to work and other things in life getting in the way, but I finally got to testing my 1050 drives and all 3 are working great...All 3 format fine now, Read Disks, Boot From Disks, and Write Disks with no issues.. A bunch of cleaning and time and they are all running great now. Thanks for all the help with this a few months back, really appreciate it!
  24. I have a thread going about shipping Atari Computers, but I wanted to ask the same questions about shipping a 1050 Drive as I assume more precautions need taken with these than just bubble wrap, tight packing and not moving around. What other things should be done to the drive to get it ready for shipping so its safe and arrives in-tact and working?
  25. This was my idea for shipping Atari Computers (400 / 800 / 800 XL). I have a bunch of large thick sided boxes I was going to use to ship the computers when needed. This is the idea of the box / shipping setup. The boxes were for Dell All-In-One Zero Clients, which weigh more than the Atari Computer and Power Supply put together, so I know the box is tough enough for the trip. Now, the Atari and Power Supply (Both Of Which Are Only Covered with Plastic In Photo), would be covered in bubble wrap as well and packed to not move in the box for shipping, as well as any other peripherals that would go with it, followed by cardboard on top of the packing and then the closed box lid sealed with tape. I have also created compartments in the box for each item to keep them away from each other and with the tight packing, they'd never roll around. I have a ton of extra cardboard insides I can cut and shape to form around the items as well. What do you think? Is this overkill or good? The Box is larger so I worry about shipping costs.
