cockpit, NICE! yeah, when mine was shipped to me, it was also DOA. i literally ripped all the boards out (a lot of the connectors came loose during shipping) and spent two days just CLEANING it. spent about another week or so fixing a few things, re-wiring the power (so it is in the mech door and easily accessible), added wheels to the bottom (roll baby roll!), added a fan, and adding the chips and switch to play Empire (HIGHLY recommended). anyway, after the gutting and cleaning, it really is one of the cleanest machines i have seen and plays like a charm! i do have the monitor cap kit to keep things fresh but i'm kinda scared that i will kill myself removing that beast or not fully discharging it. i'll try and snap some pix if anyone is interested...

thanks everyone! i'm tellin ya, every time i have a house party and that thing is on "free play", that is what all the newbies to my house gravitate to! what am i thinkin? free play? i should turn on the coin mech and make some beer money!

i wish i could remember the site but there is a company out there that sells the cart connector for the front loading system. i ordered one about a year ago for &8, opened my machine, removed the old one, cleaned the connectors and viola, works perfectly...

always a fan of indy 500 for two players...

hi all, yeah, a few extras. i will need to dig them out of storage. i used to work for the cd replicator who repped all of atari's jag cd's please feel free to email me at home, [email protected] and i will offer these up on a first come, first serve basis, we'll work something out, the first one goes to albert and atariage cause without this site, we'd all be in flames over at JI albert, i'll try and get a scan or pic of the disc over to you so you can include in the DB. maybe even rip the audio as an MP3 for inclusion? fyi, it really isn't anything big, it is a straight audio cd announcing the availablity of the jag, features, etc. been years since i've listened to it. d8thstar [ 02-08-2002: Message edited by: d8thstar ]

nice sticks guys! i've been toying with the idea of creating a cross platform stick for every system i own (not just atari). here is the idea i have: have a stick with as many firebuttons needed and a keypad mounted. on the back of the box, have multiple ports on the back, each labeled with the system of choice (too many systems in my collection to list here). then have a cable for each system that you simply plug into the back of the controller. it'll be a mess of wires on the inside but when done, plug in the cord to the system, jack it into the controller and there you have it, a universal, all system encompassing controller. just a dream at this point but it'll happen...

oh man, my star wars upright died on me months ago and i was bummed beyond belief. finally took it upon myself to open that bad boy up and after some poking around, saw a blown fuse. a quick trip to radio shack and she fired right up! one of my prized possesions for sure, modded to play empire also with the flip of a switch. GAME ON!

hey all, i was thinkin of that lil handheld activision controller thingy that retails for 20 bucks. anyone know if those are actual rom dump images and the controller has some kind of emulator burned into it? i started thinking about my 2600/cd mod again today and it clicked: why don't we try and petition infogrames to release something along the same lines? they have a buttload more of a back catalogue then activision, why don't they release something along the same lines? not being the software/hardware engineer that i wish i was (i am a maniac with wire strippers and duct tape though), has anyone tried to disassemble one of the activision controllers? if there is an emulator on board, perhaps a dump of the rom could lead to a hack for inclusion of more roms? bored out of my skull...

yeah, the launch day cd isnt a big deal but i may have a few extra's laying around somewhere if you want one.

looks great, safe to say we all can't wait for this!!!! i saw the poll on the page about the character design. not sure how this would affect the memory (shouldn't too much) but how about when you start the game, you select via keypad, a knight, a warrior, an elf, etc. each is a little better at something (warrior kicks ass, elf can steal chalices back from bats easier) with the square dot man being the all around best character?

marketing NEVER ceases to amaze me (and i work closely with them on a daily basis). yeah, the ps2 has a HUGE install base, granted. but now, this VERY niche product is going to have to share shelf space with not only all of the triple "a" titles that the ps2 now sports, they will have to share space with the 100's upon 100's of ps1 titles that are fully compatible with the ps2. now lets say this were to be released on the box or cube. bothe machines have sold through well into 100's of thousands of machines, if they haven't cracked a mil each. this compilation would be sharing shelf space with 15, maybe 20 titles currently on the box and maybe a dozen on the cube? again, it really is PAINFUL to watch marketing people spin their collective wheels. ken, i AM looking forward to this but the fact that the ps2 was picked as the primary platform only SOLIDIFIES that other platforms won't see this compilation as the sales will be tiny (no offense). d8thstar stares into crystal ball and sees potentially a pc port and MAYBE an xbox port simply because of the ease from pc to xbox... ugh, i need a marketing degree

why not just suggest a genesis pad as the primary controller? you can find those cheaply and they work on a 7800.

and since an item select/inventory screen is basically a pause, just use the pause button on the console. if i'm not mistaken, someone here has hacked the pause button and rewired it to a modified controller, no?

missing the "jag cd launch day" audio cd not jag cd specific, but still

the games themselves are all arcade. but, in the archive section (which is HUGE), they have info, screenshots, box art, etc for all the atari home versions (26, 78, 52, computer). hell, they even have a movie of the 2600 tempest proto! andy kapps bar? anyone?
-
it's been said here before but if you haven't, pick up the atari cd for dreamcast. the interviews of nolan alone are worth the price. curious if anyone knows where what was known as "andy kapps pub" is located in the bay area. are they still a bar? is it a building that is open to the public? the geek in me would like to visit...

mine aint big, it's one of those beach/floor chairs that look like an upside down T with the fuji on the side you lean back against. that is my game playin chair so even if i'm playin my xbox or cube, atari is still there in my heart (or should i say under my ass?). if only the damn thing had a holder for my beer!

i *think* i have a PAL version, i stress the word *think*... email me at [email protected] and we'll work something out if i do have...

ah, back in the day, my mom used to play kaboom with me and my pops (who lost half of his left thumb in a construction accident) used to LOVE minestorm on my vectrex. i mention the half thumb cause he used to hold the controller in his hand and i was always amazed that he could do so well with the nub... and i agree, tell em you'd be buying cigs, booze and whores if you weren't into atari!
