(PLEASE READ) Programmer needed for 2600 Homebrew Game Serie
d8thstar replied to Uncle Duke's topic in Atari 2600
actually pyramid, just because you arent making a profit doesnt mean you arent stealing. and i'm not trying to bag on you, i'm a fan of hacks just as much as anyone else but, if i steal my neighbors 52" tv and put it in my living room instead of selling it.... anyways, good luck on your projects, they sound very cool! -
Most definately Albert! Yeah, as nice as it is to have the boxes, I just don't have the space. I'll take the manual but it isn't really necessary for my collection. I collect bits, to play the game, that's what it's all about for me... "The first rule of Byte Club, you do not talk about the Byte club. The second rule of the Byte club, YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT BYTE CLUB..."
-
uh, just got mine today but no article? what gives?
-
hi all, being the bit collector that i am, i only need one more cart to finish my production run of 7800 games, mean 18 golf, anyone want to help? of non-production run, the only cart i'm interested in is the high score cart... ant help will be appeciated... thanks all and merry xmas!

-
ACK! INFO PLEASE of where i can get that!
-
i meant actually hacking a real c64 to run a cd-rom, sorry for the confusion
-
ok, since we are talking about c64 here... that is one of the few things i need to add to my collection that i remember OH SO FONDLY from my childhood. they are easy enough to come by but before i get started down that path... i swear i had read on some web site that people still hack away on their c64's and that it is possible to have a setup with a virtual floppy drive that is in actuality a cd-rom drive. if anyone can confirm this, i am getting a c64 tomorrow! i long for the day of typing "list "*",8" and having an entire cd-rom of 3000+ disc images scroll up.... anyone know?
-
i probably could fit all that in a DC case but that would require MASSIVE amounts of hacking and what not... besides, one of the reasons i want to do this is to keep the original console. i have other ideas brewing about this that may work
-
hey albert, i agree, cd is the way to go after more thought... although, minidisc would be cool, you could simply add more roms as they are released, etc. as for storage space, they are both very comparible and a "every rom" cd only takes up a couple of meg at most. and it's not "if" i pull this off, it's when i've actually been thinking of a front loading cd player although i would need to hack hardware like mad (gut a stereo, remove the cd player, find the audio points, etc.) so that would be WAY to much work. but damn if it wouldn't be cool to just have a slot in the front woodgrain panel like a car stereo... btw, i have seen portable 3" cd mp3 players, they run about $100 or so...
-
hey zero, yeah, i was just thinking of having two power cords out the back, not a big deal for me. whenever i tackle this and get started, if anyone wants to jump in and help split a power signal...
-
oh Albert, you want to do duelin pics? when i borrow my friends digital camera, i'll make sure and post a pic to back my claims! btw, when you have time to dump those other three activision proto's i have, please just let me know tony
-
now ya see why i post ideas on here? that mini-disc idea is GREAT! don't have one currently but i will definately consider it! this site rules!

hi all, come the new year, i am actually going to start some of the mod projects that have been bouncing around in this grey nugget of mine. one of the tops on my list is due to chad's WONDERFUL cuddle cart. so here it is, feedback is more than welcome: i'd like to mod a 2600 by cutting the top flat black area and flush mount a portable cd player with the cuttle cart actually inside the 2600, by-passing the cart port (actually, it would become non-functional all together). so the cd player lid would just flip up, you'd turn on your atari and be treated to the cuttle cart screen. a cd based 2600? yeah, i think i'll do it. so my question, which version of a 2600 should i gut for this? which has the most room inside? hell, i could use a 2600 jr.'s inards and save space in a 6 switcher... another idea that just popped in (they do that sometimes), CAREFULLY cut away the black 'grid' area, gut the portable player, re-use the black top as the lid to the cd player. from the gutted cd player, mount the little screen and track selection buttons into the cart hole on the 2600... of course when i tackle this, i'll document with digital pics... thoughts? ideas? ok, i'll take a stab from memory... i have converted my garage into a carpeted pool room, with couches and a fridge for beer i also have a 27 inch tv for sports. hooked up is my mini museum of game systems: atari stunt cycle atari video pinball atari super pong atari 2600 atari 2600 jr. atari 2800 (the Sears version, love the paddles) atari 5200 (with twin trackballs) atari 800 computer atari 7800 atari jag w/ cd intellivision I w/ voice module intellivision II w/ keyboard colecovision ti/99 sega master system sega cdx w/ 32x attachment fairchild channel f odyssey II snes w/ nes converter (and game doctor) apx-1000 (i think that's what it's called) bally astrocade radio shack and to top this all off (literally, it is on the top shelf): vectrex virtual boy as you can see, the garage is my classic museum. in my living room (on the nice tv) i have: playstation dreamcast n64 with "dr" attachment sega saturn neo geo cart system (gamecube and xbox to be added shortly...) in the bedroom: sega dreamcast atari 2600 atari 5200 nes (it's buggy though) turbo duo 3do playstation (to be moved to the garage) playstation 2 (will be moving downstairs now that i have a dvd player in my room...) and yes, they are all connected, the garage was a FREAKIN nightmare! needless to say, when i have time, i will be re-wiring my garage.... and some day, the classics will meet the currents in a game room in my dream home... someday.

i have neither the expertise nor the sobriety to even attempt to program this. nor do i think it would even be feasible on the 2600 but maybe the 5200? how about a port of the CLASSIC c64 game, space taxi? "hey taxi" man, THAT would seriously ROCK!
-
i have the original stamper to Primal Rage. Basically, any CD that you guys have out there was made off this stamper, it's "the mother". other then that, an audio cd for the jag cd hardware launch day...
