  1. Really? With the 7805 and RF Box removal, I thought the ghosting and wavyness went away. Even with my 'Shunt' Circuits, the amount of ghosting as greatly reduced compared to RF output.
  2. Depends if you can live with yourself by ripping open a classic vintage system and modify it. I have on all my own vintage consoles with the idea of using them instead of collecting them, so I AV modded away. Also being handy with a soldering iron will help or as ls650 mentioned a mod will cost a fortune. Check here (or my thread) for removing the RF box which introduces the ghosting. And as for which AV mod to use, I donno but there's the wiki.intellivision.us and Solar Fox circuit. Whatever you do, enjoy and have fun!
  3. I used a white eraser to clean corrosion off the keypad matrix, and water and alcohol. Then to prevent future corrosion, I used automotive dielectric compound. to fix holes or traces? use conductive ink like exodave suggested.
  4. Haha! yeah... Frozen brained comes to mind. Gotta keep busy and outta trouble, so vintage computing and gaming comes in. That and a '70 pickup, but not as fun working on it in a snow bank, Still post some pictures of the 800xl! and found some neekid 400 keyboard post with pictures instead of the parka covered uhm, ladies
  5. Cut a hole in the CASE! JK, Don't do that! The proper solution is to whittle down the pcb untill it fits, or use a variable swing press. if any traces break, use crazy CRAZY glue to fix! Seriously, don't do that either! Post some pictures, lets see the Atari 400 naked ;D
  6. What is insane is trying to define what normal is. we're all normal around here
  7. Printer function uses the ADAMnet bus. In theory one could fashion a db9 to rj12 adapter to plug the printer in.
  8. One is for Logic (RF circuit), and the other for inductive loads (Data Drive). Not sure if they can be put together, and was thinking of using a 7812 for the logic to drive the RF circuit. Been perusing the Schematics a bit to build one inside the ADAM using a mini-itx power supply and 12v or 19v laptop adapter.
  9. I got two of them with this idea, without confirming it would work in regular games. Welp, they work fine! although I think I'd still have some flat base with which to place on my legs for easy gaming.
  10. I will be abusing my ADAM with a soldering iron soon. as soon as parts arrive Building an internal power supply to remove the printer requirement. Never really liked the look of the original CV, and prefer the capabilities of the ADAM. That and it was my first into to computers, and still remember the day my Dad brought the box in.
  11. Welp, this post got really hijacked so... going to post a picture of my Intellivision System III The original black intv 2 style keypad was flaking apart, so I ordered these original style keypad replacements.
  12. Jmetal88 came up with a better solution to the Shunt circuit, with the use of a 78L05 or 7805. Post with Solar Fox AV Mod: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222037-finally-got-an-intellivision/?p=2935605 And my original Shunt circuit with updated info at bottom: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/212715-intellivision-2609-composite-video-and-rf-box-removal/ Basically, this should help eliminate most if not all ghosting and eliminate the RF module. Not sure yet if the wiki.intellivision.us or Solar Fox AV circuit produces a better picture.
  13. I used this site to make overlays for the kids to use. The quality is a bit lacking tho... low resolution and crooked. But better than using originals for the kids to terrorize!
  14. If the 33Ohm resistor didn't over heat, I suspect the 7805 should be able to run without a heat sink. Edit: Oh, the 78L05 is a tiny lil' guy and not the to-220 case the 7805 is
  15. Heh, beat me to it ;D Edit: This is awesome! Now just waiting for GrovyBee's MultiCart and I'm going to be in vintage gaming Heaven!
  16. From what I understand, pump the output of the 7805 to the video circuit to supply +5v and through a resistor to the video input of the AV circuit. +5v through a 110Ohm resistor for the wiki.intellivision.us circuit or a 450Ohm resistor for solarfox.triluminary.net circuit, or a 1k trim pot and adjust as necessary. Hope this helps without a circuit diagram Edit: Jmetal made one! http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222037-finally-got-an-intellivision/?p=2935605
  17. What about branching out to other vintage systems? Like *gasp* Atari
  18. have a look at this thread: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222037-finally-got-an-intellivision/?p=2932753 Basically, use a 7805 voltage regulator to supply AV mod circuits with clean power. I'll be updating this thread somehow with a new circuit soon. I'll be trying both the intellivision wiki circuit, and Solar Fox's circuit with the 7805, after I move... so might be a month or so...
  19. I bought a pair of super action controllers from ebay for 15 bucks each. Cleaned and lubed them up, and seem ok!
  20. My Intellivision III (3?) is battle worn unit I got on an ebay lot. Spiffed it up, swapped the black crumbling keypad for a intellivision I and kinda looks like the above unit, except the controllers plastic colour matches the main body. My metallic coverings are way worse than the one pictured. But I don't really care, as I want to use it, and not have it to collect.
  21. Dang it, smrty pents! lol, now I gotta rip my intellivision apart to check on the 33ohm resistor. I used a 1/4W one there Mind you, it would get hot if it was putting that much current through, wouldn't it? So, you fed 5v into the video input feed to the av mod circuit? I'll update my original post with this info
  22. Hey, I found a deal! a Coleco ADAM controller! I made an offer of ten bucks, but he declined.
  23. I ripped apart an RF box to come up with that shunt circuit. Kinda makes sense to just use a 7805 to feed the video mod. Will have to give it a whirl ;D
  24. I tried to buy some stuff, repair IC's for my xegs, controllers, game or two, and all was fine an dandy and gave my credit card info. Later I got an email saying it got bounced (My fault really, too much Christmas shopping online , but had a payment put through. The next day, my payment cleared and I responded to try the card again, and I got no response. And after a few weeks and several emails since and no response, I called. he informed me that the order was put back and I needed to pay a restocking fee, which is ok... I guess, and would have paid it, except he wanted paid in cash. I can't just send cash in the mail, and offed to have it put on my card, or use another card, or even payscampal. No deal. Kinda Bummed I couldn't get the stuff, and will be heading over to myatari.com ... when I pay my card down some more... (Bought a Coleco ADAM and stuff from console5.com lol) Anyway, this thread seems like a place to complain, so here's my experience
