  1. So... anyone up for a group buy and shipping to North America?? Bah, never mind... I think I'm gonna use a dedicated emulator for my ADAM urges be nice it it can be av modded or something...
  2. My Votes for the XEGS! yup... the GS or GM... whatever... Back in the day, My Father had an 800XL, and later I bought a 130XE and I only used them for gaming. My Father was the one typing and fiddling and even modded the 800xl (not sure what mod) and had this toggle switch out the side. Anyway off topic. I considered the 130XE when I got back into the 8-bit to show my Son because it had better specs and decent styling and horrible Cart slot (Deal killer). I never planned to do any typing so the squishy keyboard isn't important. Eventually settled on the XEGS as it had a top loading cart slot and could be upgraded enough to be decent. I even liked the pastel buttons! So, Ol' Gamer guy sez the XEGS is better and this was the market the GS or GM was aimed for.
  3. I searched for how this the keypad out for the intellivision 1 keypad, and thought 'what a great way to upgrade the intv 2 keypad!' maybe try different conductive paint... or use a fine paint brush maybe?
  4. all my ebay'd stuff came like this! All I did was ask for packaging that didn't squish the boxes I was inspired by this guy's post ... Thnx IntellivisionDude!
  5. not sure about the Sylvania, but the Intellivision 1 or original had this cheesy ribbon power strip that liked to corrode and disintegrate, thus causing a loss of power to the board, and whole lotta nuttin' on tv. Some Duckduckgo.com search result: http://www.intvfunhouse.com/tech/ribbon/ The repair obviously requires one to open it up and solder stuff inside. Suprisingly, not many people know how to do this and it's highly recommended to locate a person who can if you all thumbs. That's the first thing I'd check, and if it's more than that, welp... whip out the oscilloscope and other electronics stuff to diagnose the logic IC's, which btw is above my intelligence I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to be smrt.
  6. so, a recap or TL;DR: The circuit needs voltage to be applied (approx. 5v) on the video input to drive the av mod circuits. The RF Unit does this internally, and if one removes it the voltage goes with it, and blank video. This is a shunt circuit that replicates the Internal circuit used in the RF Module allowing one to remove it and the Ghosting effect it causes. Hope this helps anyone who lost or removed the RF Box!
  7. Hey, Cool! I never had the Computer or keyboard, I'm assuming it's this which doesn't seem to do much... but would add to my collection, and I think there is such a thing as having too many Intellivisions ;D I'll private msg ya when they do come in and see if they work or not. Guess I won't be painting it then and no pick fork crowds outside mah door
  8. Ok, Tore apart my 2609, and tried another AV circuit at solarfox.triluminary.net Page 6 is the circuit. Seems far simpler than the wiki.intellivision.us circuit, and seems to have a slightly sharper image. Also, I tried a 5.1V Zener 500mw Diode, a 1n5231 and used a 1k trim pot in place of 636 Ohm Resistor in above circuit. I ended up with 110 Ohm using wiki.intellivision.us circuit, and 450 Ohm using solarfox.triluminary.net's circuit. Updated Circuit PDF and JPG: Intellivision RF Module Shunt Circuit for 2609 - ver2.pdf Going to give Astrosmash a try and see if the turquoise level is fubared or not ;D will report results later. Also, when the Intv III and parts 2609 come in, I'll post again further results. Anyway, something to tie over untill Groovy Bee puts out his circuit.
  9. Heheh, Sorry ... I shoulda let it go, but wanted the Intv III and to see if I can get the old parts one working again. all Winter Projects tho
  10. So, a bit of an update... Tried the Modified Intellivision through my reciever (it does upconverting) and it looked TERRIBLE! Back to drawing board I suppose... gonna fiddle with the 200ohm resistor... also, got an order in from digi-key (Argh Shipping is terrible for a Canadian ) and am going to try a 5.1V Zener diode to see if that's what it is. Will post later with results, maybe when I get the urge to tear into my 2609... or wait untill some ebay'd ones come in. A Sears Tele Game, Intv III, and torn apart intv I
  11. wow! That's CHEAP! Order ten I just bought this http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2Festate-sale-vintage-intellivision-console-lot-%2F321171115367 but not sure if I should have... Been saving up for Groovy Bee's MultiCart, and Video Mod. Would it be a shame if I painted the Sears unit a nice black? Or would purists be up in arms with pitch forks at my door?
  12. I got an XE GM went I got the urge to re-live my Atari 8-Bit days. Originally had the 130XE and my Father had the 800XL, but being a teenager I always felt the XEGM would have been the better buy and is why I opted for one now. Things I really like about the XE GM: Separate Keyboard Pastel Coloured Keys (Don't Judge Me! Lol) Boxy look that reminds me of the more "serious" business machines of the day Things I don't like: Pastel Coloured Keys (Hey, Love Hate thing... Keyboard and Joystick Ports are hard to use, and am thinking of using 6" dongles or extenders to keep wear and tear to a minimum. And gluing or bolting the jacks to PCB... Hardware Mods are lacking, like memory upgrades or Timing fixes or lack of PBI (which I still don't know what it's used for) Planning on painting mine black using krylon fusion plastic paint, just so the Pastels have something to bounce off but doubt I will do it... and may only clear coat it to prevent yellowing. Got Atarimax's IDE interface, but stalled formatting it as this doesn't seem to like any flash media... http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1102&hilit=ZarK Anyway, Mostly Gaming and Introducing my Son to the vintage gaming. But trying to utilize modern tech to make things easy and portable.
  13. http://www.intvfunhouse.com/faq/intv_faq7.php http://wiki.intellivision.us/index.php?title=Main_Page http://www.kohtz.com/andrew/intv_sm/index.html Some parts and other stuff: http://console5.com/store/catalogsearch/result/index/?console_type_revision=74&q=intellivision Anyway, DuckDuckGo.com stuff... Hope this helps! probably won't But, my 2 cents worth advice, it's not the video circuits and more logic side of things. CPU or Memory, as what your describing with the problem exhibiting itself in a reproducible manner. Maybe the CPU or other logic IC's have electromigrated itself to death, as it seems the 1st gen intellivisions seemed to do. When I play Astrosmash, mine gets *really* warm and am thinking of adding vent holes and maybe a 5v fan to help with longevity. Any other games cause the Intellivision to work extra hard like Astrosmash does?
  14. I'm with grIMP, where do I throw my Money! my hard earn money, which I should be using to buy food'n'rent...
  15. Check the dump... it's where my current 1st gen came from... the crap people throw away these days Came in a box with several games, and brought back so many memories Just found several xbox 360's (RROD) and the orig xbox, and piles of accessories for both today I wish more cities had the dump open to the public, to go "shopping"
  16. Can minimize ghosting on an av mod by removal of the rf box. Except, when I did, I got no video :/ so, broke open the rf box, and started removing stuff untill I had basically a Zener Diode, and a couple of resistors. My post: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/212715-intellivision-2609-composite-video-and-rf-box-removal/
  17. Waiting for Groovy Bee's Mod as well, but havn't noticed much shadowing problems since I did this: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/212715-intellivision-2609-composite-video-and-rf-box-removal/
  18. lol, AWESOME! Can't wait for it. Links not working? I'm pretty sure I got them right, and uploaded to this site... anyway, I'll post them now: The Video Mod I used: http://wiki.intelliv...eo_Modification This didn't work on my 2609: http://intellivision_2609.tripod.com/ My Homeserver Website (Please don't Hammer it!): http://zark.homeserv.../Intellivision/ and pdf: http://zark.homeserv...it for 2609.pdf RF Module Shunt Circuit for 2609.pdf Not sure what TV that was at work, but ghosting on it and my LED at home showed similar results. minimal ghosting I just hope this helps anyone else thinking of using the video mod circuit from intellivision wiki, and wants to remove the rf module. ... The Video Mod Groovybee is doing, won't work the the system changer (Atari 2600 thing) will it... I noticed another diode on schematic and a tag "Ext Video" which I suspect was the video feed from the system changer. Edit: Can't get the url's to show fully :/
  19. Don't know how many people are out there bugging you for another batch, but here's my bug! Anyway to off load manufacture and support to another entity, just to help the community out? Seems like that's what Mr Atari did and got Atarimax to make and sell them... Sorry for the Bug
  20. Hi! Guy staying with me found an Intellvision 2609 and some games at the dump, What a rescue! Figure, why not Composite Video Mod it? Well, found this site: wiki.intellivision.us and thought I could use it and remove the rf module, and place the circuit board there. Blank Screen, searching internet and various people have had similar problems removing rf module, and with it in circuit, causes some ghosting. I ain't no professional, but I know enough to be dangerous, and start hacking rf box apart by pulling components off one bit at a time, soldering back on with it disturbed the image. So, things are good, but I screwed up and the image is too bright and washed out. when doing this, do it one part at a time so's one knows what part did the rick or not... :/ Anyway, I created an rf module shunt circuit Intellivision RF Module Shunt Circuit for 2609.pdf I'm not sure what type of zener diode that is, but it's marked B2 5 and a regular diode didn't work on mock up circuit... Also, I included a Filtering Coil, but I don't think it's needed. Also of note, I tried this circuitbut doesn't work :/ (The internet doesn't lie, right?) Also tried that circuit in front of the intellivision wiki one... I also finished a Atari 2600 Composite Video Mod using Ben Hecks Modified or revised circuit... and looked at other circuits and realized that the outputs from these video chips go through a resistor network and feeds into at least one NPN transistor. Maybe the Intellivision Wiki one can be revised or simplified and include a resistor network cutting original traces ... Anyway, TL;DR: I ripped parts out of rf module untill I had this basic circuit. Now got Composite Video with minimal ghosting. Posting results to share with others. Some more shamless pics:
