  1. No doubt... Thanks for the clarification.
  2. What does this even mean? "Soon enough" ??? I seriously doubt it. Did you mean, "we will know eventually"?

    Rampage 64k+

    Good question.
  4. I'm sure I haven't played all the 2600 games yet since there are so many, but I think DEFENDER II is pretty impressive for a 2600 game.
  5. Yes, foil tape and a hole puncher is the best DIY remedy. Ultimately, the best thing would be to buy new Best gold controllers.
  6. Scored one of these off ebay for $19.99... just got it today. It was listed as a PC controller, but I noticed that the plugs looked exactly like the one I already have for the 5200. I've said it before... these are the best controllers for playing MOST games for the 5200. My original plan was to use the guts of the competition pros that I have and cannibalize some of my old 5200 sticks to make an arcade quality stick, but since these are extremely hard to find now a days, I think I'll just keep them the way they are.
  7. The stock 5200 controllers and Trak Ball harness are terrible quality. I'll bet most of the problems people have with those controllers are due to bad traces. Speaking of this... the only way to replace a Trak Ball harness is to buy another Trak Ball. Eventually they will be extremely hard to find. Sorry I went off track a little. LOL!
  8. Just played this game again, I think it's so cool. Only thing I would add if possible are some sound effects for when you clear rows of bricks.
  9. Not sure why E.T. gets singled out as the worst game, AND the one that started the video game crash. There are hundreds of other 2600 titles that suck more than E.T. IMO most of the 2600 games are lackluster, only a handful are truly fun to play, addictive, and have replay value. E.T. is good, but could have been better, just like hundreds of other titles.
  10. I'm sure overseas there are plenty of manufacturers of these types of plugs and wires... my guess would be in Hong Kong.
  11. Wow... I'm stumped. Maybe there is something wrong with the motherboard, leaked caps? This may sound harsh but, light sixers are plentiful, get a new one, keep that one for parts.
  12. There are instances where a pot can be worn out from extensive use, but I've never encountered one. The black circle (I think is carbon) is what wears out which is why old pots have all that black crap to clean out. If the jitteryness doesn't go away, get a new pot. The thing that sucks about the new pot from Radio Shack is having to trim the post and cut a half circle into it for the knob. Best Electronics sell pots but I don't know if they are trimmed to fit the paddles... or if they have the plastic post.
  13. With all due respect, WD-40 is not a cleaner... It's a lubricant. It would not be a good idea to use that while cleaning the pots. Take apart the pots and use generous amounts of rubbing alcohol and clean everything with a cotton swab.... until you don't see anymore black residue on the swab. And yes, I believe that is the right pot... but you may not need it.
  14. Bare with me. Does your board work in conjunction with the existing hardware of a Neo Geo stick... or does it replace the original hardware?
  15. Hypothetically, could you use this board to make a 5200 controller using an old Jaguar gamepad? The 3rd fire button could be used for the start or pause function.
  16. I can't really vote because I have a few Atari 2600s and a 7800 which is also kinda a 2600. Each one has different picture qualities. Atari VCS (Heavy Sixer) (Unmodded): Picture is fantastic, but not perfect. Sears Video Arcade II (unmodded): Picture has vertical lines throughout. Atari 7800 (Unmodded): Picture is acceptable, but could be better. Honestly, the best picture quality I've seen is on my computer using Stella. LOL!
  17. I've played far worse games for the Atari 2600. E.T. has it's flaws, but it's not a total waste. I'd say the worst thing about the game is the underdeveloped collision detection. Also, like many other games, it takes just a few minutes to complete... and that's kind of lame.
