  1. One likely culprit would be the PLA chip. Writing from Seattle, Washington, Robert Bernardo June 10-11 Pacific Commodore Expo NW - http://www.portcommodore.com/pacommex July 29-30 Commodore Vegas Expo v13 - http://www.portcommodore.com/commvex
  2. (The Living Computer Museum in Seattle, Washington is inviting Commodorians and Amigans to its Preservation Week. If you are interested, read through the forwarded message and the contact information below.) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Matisse Fletcher Date: Wed, Mar 15, 2017 02:09 PM On April 29th we are hosting a big showcase of "preservationists" for Museum Preservation Week. Similar to the [Pacific Commodore Expo] we're planning... later this year, this would be an opportunity for the Commodore clubs to bring their stuff to show off to museum archivists, collectors, and librarians for our in-house conference. We haven't quite figured out time of day (sometime between 10am and 5pm), but wanted to gauge interest. Thoughts? -Matisse Matisse Fletcher Events Coordinator | Living Computers: Museum + Labs ---------- ( Contact Ms. Fletcher at http://www.livingcomputers.org/ContactUs.aspx or call 206 342-2020 )

I was a bit surprised to see she is still asking $10 for a PDF copy. I should buy the .PDF and give it as a gift to one of our Fresno Commodore User Group members. 4. I first started with a 300 baud modem on my Commodore, and I could type faster than what was appearing on the screen. When I graduated to a 1200 baud Commodore 1670 modem, it was wonderful! Not long after that, I upgraded to a 2400 baud Aprotek Minimodem 24. I thought I was blazing through the Lynx browser then. Finally, I ended up with an external 56K modem hooked up to my Commodore through a Turbo-232 adapter. Downloads were so fast now (though the 56K modem would max out at 40K to 28K depending on which telephone lines I was using in various parts of California). I was reminded that I didn't make a general announcement (though my Facebook friends saw right away when I posted the same photos there). So now, here are links to the photos I took of those groups. Member Bruce may be bringing back his Amiga 2000 for us to replace the battery in the system. I will be bringing in the A2000 which will be at Maker Faire and at CommVEx. Refurbished by Duncan M., this one is loaded with a Blizzard 2060 50 MHz. board, 128 megs of Fast RAM, 2 megs of Chip RAM due to MegaChip, SCSI controller board with 8 megs of RAM, NewTek Video Toaster, Digital Processing Systems Personal TBC, A2065 Ethernet card, Digital Processing Systems Personal Animation Recorder (PAR), OS 3.1, SCSI CD-ROM drive, 4 gig SCSI main hard drive, 500 meg SCSI hard drive for the PAR. 11. In late summer/early autumn 2016, our original venue for the Commodore Vegas Expo, the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, was unavailable for 2017 reservations. Thus, CommVEx was booked into the California Hotel. However, there was always a chance that CommVEx could return to the Plaza when reservations were to open in April, 2017. The Plaza Hotel opened up its reservations early! As of March 1, CommVEx is now booked into the Plaza Hotel for July 29-30! With the return to the Plaza, CommVEx exhibitors and attendees will have the perks of the hotel – Friday afternoon and evening set-up, unlimited Saturday evening showroom use, overnight storage in the showroom, and a relaxed Sunday take-down of equipment. As in years past, here is the schedule - Friday set-up – 4 p.m. to the finish of set-up Saturday set-up – 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday official CommVEx showtimes – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday unofficial CommVEx late-night – 5 p.m. to close of doors Sunday set-up – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday official CommVEx showtimes – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday take-down – 5 p.m. until everything is out of the room Like last year, we have reserved the use of a 2,000 square foot ballroom with the possibility of another 2,000 square foot ballroom if it is vacant on the CommVEx weekend. At the moment, the only mystery is which ballroom we will receive. That will be announced later. I'd like to thank the following for their patience and support these last few months – Al Jackson and his Las Vegas Commodore friends, the Fresno Commodore User Group, and the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network, and The Other Group of Amigoids. CommVEx is go! 12. I recently bought two Dell 2001FP monitors for $70. They have DVI, VGA, s-video, and composite inputs. Through the s-video input, the Commodore 64 screen looks pretty good. Once again, we look at the newly-released film, "Viva Amiga: The Story of a Beautiful Machine," part two this time. In hardware, we'll examine the new Ray Carlsen power supply for the VIC-20 (early model) and the 3D-printed, VIC-20 cartridge case for the Final Expansion 3, Rev. 11. Member Bruce may be bringing back his A2000 for us to examine in detail. And because I don't expect rain pouring down, I'll be able to yank out the AmigaOne XE G4 out of the car. If we can get them on disk or on SD card drive, we'll try out VIC-20 - $B, Maxi-Edit, and Cask Jumper C64 - Bear Jam for the Chalkboard Powerpad and The Bear Essentials Plus/4 - various demos and slideshows Truly, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group P.S. 22. I'm not at home right now, so I can't look up the model number, but I have a Magnavox LCD tv/monitor that has served me faithfully for many years. It has RF, composite, s-video, and VGA inputs (640 x 480 maximum), and stereo audio inputs (with stereo speakers... but the sound is not good). It is also NTSC and PAL-compatible. It looks its best with s-video from a C64 or a VIC-20 modded for s-video output.
