My Realistic/Radio Shack portable cassette recorder from the 1990's is around the house somewhere, as is my early 1970's GE portable cassette recorder. Next to my stereo system is the Akai reel-to-reel tape deck (with 12-inch reels).

Oh, I was just tapping the key.

That's what I thought I did, too. However, in the heat of the moment, I could have been mistaken.

    Thanks for the interesting details!

Will try again on my C128DCR set-up,

The FCUG members were very surprised and pleased with the game. Most of them had never seen a graphical game running in the C128's 80-column mode. The gameplay was smooth and fast, though using the minus key only slowed it down just a tiny bit and using the plus key didn't seem to make a difference (though I may not have noticed if there was a slight speed-up). We liked how the invaders moved even faster as they got to the bottom of the screen. Very challenging! Of course, we liked the nice sound effects. We didn't try it with the SuperCPU 128... perhaps at another meeting.

It ran fine from the uIEC SD. However, when we tried to transfer the program file to a floppy disk for another club member and then when we tried to run it... fail! The game would crash. We'll have to try another way to transfer it to floppy disk.

  5. Happy September, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2+ p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20 at --

    Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant

2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)

    Fresno, California

    (559) 227-1686

This month we'll look at some choice clips from this year's Commodore Vegas Expo, and of course, we'll discuss next year's CommVEx, not forgetting about the October Amiwest Show. In our hardware and software presentations, we'll try out eight, previously unreleased System IIII games for the VIC-20. For the C128, we have the John Carlsen C128 VGA adapter, and a homebrew 80-column game, 128 Invaders. For the Plus/4, again we'll try running the artsy pictures from Botticelli Bilderdisk 40, and this time with a PAL Plus/4 instead of last month's NTSC Plus/4 (the NTSC Plus/4 failed to run the picture slideshow after the first two screens). The Amiga 1200 returns with its '060 processor running at 50 MHz, OS 3.9, 256 megs of Fast RAM, and 4 gig CompactFlash IDE drive.

  6. Happy hot month of September, C= and Ami comrades!

The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2 to 4+ p.m. at

    Panera Bread Restaurant

    19662 Nordhoff Street

    Northridge, California

    (818) 407-9400

We are still coming down from the highs of the Commodore Vegas Expo and the Amiga 30th anniversary in California, and so, talk will center around that. Upcoming on the schedule is the Amiwest Show on October 17-18, and we'll discuss that, too.

For your perusal, we'll look at the latest Cloanto products, C64 Forever and Amiga Forever. The Amiga 1200, the Amiga 3000, the SX-64, the VIC-20, and the Plus/4 will also be there at the meeting.

Bring anything else you wish to share!

    Truly,

    Robert Bernardo

Ah, my error... Greg speaks of Comet64 developments in the above video. He speaks of C64 screen-casting in the just-uploaded video -- "Alekel and C64 screen-casting at CommVEx v11 2015" -- at

Also uploaded is the video, "Jim Drew and C= Artifacts at CommVEx v11 2015", which is found at
