You should get the 2 port. Not only because of the switch box, but even if you did get the 4 port you would never get 4 working controllers.

No. You fly up and steer the shuttle side to side, you can also speed up or slow down. Like River Raid in space I guess.

I'm new to the "Homebrew committee" (I didn't even know what a homebrew was until I discovered this site.) so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

 

Anyways, I've thought long and hard about what happened to the survivors of Atlantis. After they flew out of the exploding Cosmic Ark, I assumed they were hit by a meteor and killed. But what if they weren't?

 

The game would be about the shuttle flying through meteors and other debree. It would play like a moving Space Invaders, except the projectiles would come at random and you would fly through space instead of only moving left to right on the ground.

 

Does this sound like a good concept? Or should I work on a new one? No info on programming is necessary. In fact, I'm reading a book on how to program for the VCS as I type this.

Christmas Day, 1980. And the damn thing didn't work! Can you imagine how crushed I was? UGH!

 

Anyway, we took it back to Montgomery Wards the next day and got a new one. I still have it - and the box. It cost $199.99. It was a six-switch that came with Combat.

 

Not long after we got Space War. Then I got Slot Racers for my birthday in September. Space Invaders came right after that. Then Asteroids for Christmas, 1981.

 

Was the first VCS you got used? If not, were you able to exchange it for a working one?

I don't believe there are any 7-11s in the Northern Minnesota area. But I remember there being a Virtua Fighter in a 7-11 in Iowa.

I really like the Driving Controller, I wish more games used it. It's what makes Indy 500 so unique.

 

As far as 2 player games go, Air Sea Battle is the way to go. It's one of my favorite 2600 games.

[How to post pictures?]

It can get kind of annoying.. if you upload your images to Photobucket (like I do) I copy the text from the IMG option. I paste it simply in the Reply dialogue area and erase the text up to where it says [/img] (or something similar). If you have an extra "img" together (like (img), for example) then erase one of them. So like:

 

http/ref/randomgobbledygook/uploadedimage.jpeg(img)blahblah

 

Erase the text so there's only one img-bracketed bit of text surrounding the picture info.

Using the image tab doesn't always work well for uploaded image, just copied URLs from a picture selected through your browser.
