Jokes aside, my 7800 has been living in my cupboard for a few years after a purchase on ebay a few years ago. I've not had the time to really test it out until my re-assurgence in atari collecting and when i popped in a couple of games i found the games inserted correctly but its INCREDIBLY hard to get the carts back out. It almost sounds like the board is crying to be removed from the slot as it rubs agains the contacts. I've tried some 7800 and 2600 carts with it and i physically have to push down hard on the console to eject the cart. The console looks fairly new, and i've opened her up and theres not a hint of rust or dust inside (apart from the cart slot), Does the console just need a bit of wearing in? Or are the PAL consoles tighter in anyway?

i think this is a definate purchase on release! I've been lurking on AA for years but this will finally breath some life into my underused 7800.

Cool, somehow i've made this list even though i put my name down on a similar thread a couple of years ago

The rubber boot is supposed to be held on by a plastic ring, which has several tabs that snap into slots in the base of the stick. If that ring is still there, you won't see the slots. The ring can be removed, the boot put back into position, and the ring snapped back in, but I do not recommend fixing it that way -- it's very easy to break the tabs off the ring. The safer way to fix it is to use something like a small straight-blade screwdriver to lift the ring up a couple of millimeters, then simply flex the base of the rubber boot and stuff it under the ring, gradually working all the way around until the rubber boot is completely back where it belongs. Not quite sure what you mean about the rubber bits so here's a photo of the problem to see if you can diagnose it.

Hi all, i found a 2600 jr at a boot fair today and it was pretty dirty so I've taken it apart, cleaned the console and joysticks but it looks like the joysticks have been used far much. One of the joysticks works fine but the rubber section at the base of the joystick has come off and feels too loose to use. The second joystick works ok, and I've opened it up, put the spring back in place for the button but it doesn't seem to like going left. I've noticed that there is some prehistoric sellotape on the board, so I've pealed this off leaving the residue on. Would it be advisable to use a pencil rubber to remove the substance, and would this fix the contact problems the stick is having? Also is there anyway to stick the rubber section back down on the other joystick? Cheers, thund3r.

My memories are a bit mixed, but i remember the first time i saw the jaguar on display was at Tandys (in the UK) where they stocked Lynx's for a while, I didnt really have any urge to buy either because i was so young and already owned a gamegear. A few years later i was walking around the neighbouring town and remember a huge poundshop where you could buy all sorts of odds and ends, and high up on the top shelf near the counter was a TV showing Checkered Flag. Now i was blown away back then by the use of proper 3D polygons but not so blown away by the price - £199(possibly more?) plus 5 games. Now i know one of those games was checkered flag back i forget the rest that were bundled with them due to the fact that the console was so expensive and i doubt my my parents would buy it for me. Years later at college i met a friend who was a big games horder, he played practically everthing that game out but still had alot of older consoles and games gathering dust. One day i was browsing on the internet and game accross the MSN group for Jagfest 2003 (now down) and quite litterely went the following weekend. My friend gave me his jag plus a handful of games and I attended at the ripe age of 19, however now in my mid twenties and avoid of any jaguar hardware (due to being a poor student) i now find myself collecting once more.

Hi Lars, i'm aware of Eerievale which seems to have been in development for years so i'm looking forward to trying it out! Not heard of superfly so i'll also check that out, i think i left the community when Total Carnage was released so it wasnt too many years ago. I've contacted Mr Harlow about jags so i should be hoping for a supply shortly, aswell as picking up a few extra games.

Hi all, its been a long time since i've made a thread on the jaguar forum here, so hey to all friends and everyone i've talked jag with. So, i no longer have a Jaguar and due to student funding issues when i was at university i sold off my Jaguar, games and CD unit for £180 (painful i know!). Now i'm working and have a stable job, but it looks like the enconomy hit the jaguar hard as now, the cost of boxed (or new) consoles has increased over double what it used to be to buy one! Consoles used to cost less then what their currently worth and dont get me started on how expensive the CD units are now! So is there any real reason for the price increase or are we running out of Jaguars? Wiki mentions that 250,000 were sold so i'd imagine some of you have more than one locked away safely Regards, thund3r.

I was thinking of maybe putting something on the site or here about room sharing as I think alot of people will want to. Most of the people already announced are staying for the whole weekend. Maybe you should speak to Mr. Harlow Thund3r as he is in your neck of the woods anyway! Would be good to discuss it on the official forums, maybe when i get home i'll open it for discussion. I shared a room with Mr Harlow one year and hes a great guy but you really got a be a deep sleeper to share a room with him
-
Very tempted to come this year, the only issue is the higher cost and travel. I know it sounds strange but it maybe an idea to pair up with someone for one of the rooms, anyone thinking about staying the entire weekend?

Reading through this thread seriously makes me wish i had kept my jag & jag CD, as i sold it a couple of years ago for £180... I think its great if you have one and want to sell it off at a higher price, but i must admit when i did own it, it seemed like a bit of novelty, considering i only played Battlemorph on it...

Looks pretty I think telegames were (or still are..) selling new Lynx I's. I think alot of people here would like to get there hands on a new lynx to open up and peel off all the wrapping for nostalgia sake. Reminds me a bit of this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXVSp4yxzqw

The plug works fine on my Lynx II but not on my Lynx I, so it looks like i'll have to borrow a soldering iron. Cheers guys! *edit* oooh 600th post!

This is probably one of the most common problem with these early handhelds, my lynx model is very sensitive to how i plug in the PSU, and sometimes even it i slightly move my lynx it turns itself off. I'm guessing theres a problem with the connection on the lynx but is there any easy way to solve it?

Loved the photos guys, looks like you all had a blast as usual! I'll try my best to make it next year but this year wasnt really possible with finance issues. Heres to JF '10!

Hi there Chandler, I've been to the event when it first started and odd years since. One thing that is great about Jagfest is that there is a real community between the people that go, and even though we've only met a few times i'm still in contact with friends from the event to this day! Its a great experience if your into retro gaming or gaming in general, as it's a great chance to play all the obscure stuff you may have missed out on or past stories. Failing all that there's normally a drink up on the Friday or Saturday so if you find things that boring you can tag along with us and make the night a bit more enjoyable Hope that gets you interested. thund3r.

How far away is the train station? Because im coming up from the south east so i don't really want to lug alot of stuff with me, in fact i may only bring my lynx!
-
I think i'm sold. Is everyone else still on board? As the jagfest forum seems to be down, so i cant tell if everyone's got the news yet...

Hey i got the PM, yea Luton sounds fine as a venue. As long as the dates are set and everyone's about i'll attend both days! Nick seems to answer to his email although last time i got hold of him he was quite busy, as for other members i can msn some of them and let them know details and get them to post their point of view.
