  1. All Genesis cables will have to be modified as in these pictures so they can fit in a Vectrex port. https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3649825748/in/album-72157620164985374/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3649825956/in/album-72157620164985374/ I have one of Golden Ax's AtariVox+. I leave a shaved down Genesis cable in the Vectrex at all times. This saves wear on the systems ports and makes it so I don't have to modify the plug on all my custom controllers.
  2. Craigslist is the best place to get one. Its local so you don't have to worry about shipping, you can test the unit and look it over and people on craigslist don't tend to be looking for top dollar. 150 is a fair price but keep in mind that a loose controller can go for as much as 100 and the Minestorm overlay can cost as much as 50 dollars. The box for the system is uncommon and can raise the cost to 200 or so. Its not a cheap system to collect for though you can enjoy most of the games with either the Mateos Multicart or VecMulti which are programmable.
  3. I thought the issue you were concerned about it is a cable for the Vectrex which has the wedge-shaped port. Genesis cables need to be shaved down. I thought there no connection issues with any of the Atari units and that the Vectrex was the only system that required something so it would fit.
  4. This is an interesting option though it would require much more work to make fit than a Genesis one because the housing for the plug is gigantic.
  5. Mr Boston CIB? You got a stack of cash? (Not that I have one)
  6. Did you ever get a multicart? Andy Coleman has a sale going on his 72 Game Multicart and Richard Hutchinson recently stated that he had made a large batch of his programmable VecMulti.
  7. I'm pretty proud of the fact that I own Irrelevant, Hexed and VeCaves but some of the ones I treasure most are Protector LE, X-Mas Cart USB version, War of the Robots sealed, City Bomber 1/50, and War of the Worlds 000 Time Rift variant.
  8. The Adventure Vision is an interesting piece of equipment. A rather peculiar system that's seems like a LCD handheld on steroids. BUT I'm really not sure why you'd make a comparison with the Vectrex. Aside from being cartridge based, designed to give the impression of an arcade cabinet and having a monochromatic screen, there's not much similarities. Quality and technology is far superior with the Vectrex and it equated to a much better game support and comparative success.
  9. A few rare games have been released since this discussion last came up. X-Mas Cart 2014 had less than 50 carts made (the ROM is available for download). However, 11 carts contained a USB power output. They were sold with LED Christmas Trees. N.E.L.S. had a run of 50 carts (no ROM available). I also believe that the cartridge version of Pythagorean Theorem is pretty rare. Recent developments. Hexed! was released as downloadable ROM. Also, people have been receiving their copies of Warrior, so probably by the end of the year all 150 carts will be out there.
  10. A dumbed version would probably be possible but Chris Tumber has a new method of coding that would be the best way to execute this so more objects could be on screen.
  11. http://computer-classics.de/cah_blog2/test-resource-post/vectrex/ Start with a vector file instead of a scan.
  12. Yes, there is definitely far more discussion here than on Digital Press. I will say that the Vectrex seems to make its way into almost every discussion. The fact that you're willing to see its growing interest is great. That's more than I can say about The Cover Project. Discussion here tends to be very soft though. There's a lot of repeat topics and events tend to happen after they've occurred rather than while they're happening.
  13. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of discussion regarding the Vectrex here. Most people discuss it on the Vector Gaming Forums or the Vectrex Fans Unite Facebook group. A lot of developers on those 2 forums.

    50TBRD's wanted list

    Finally got Protector LE.
  15. A system with box goes for about 200 bucks. Manual, cart and overlays usually go for 10-15 each except for Star Castle which is probably 30-60. Its all pretty common stuff, lots to choose from out there. I'd just list it BIN or Craigslist for 300 with or without Star Castle or the System BIN and individual lots for each game starting from 99 cents.
  16. Sean Kelly is on AA, and FB. You can contact him to see if he'd like to do anything about it but he may still do a Multicart 3.0.
  17. Make sure it has a working, self centering controller and Minestorm overlay. They're pretty expensive on their own. The other thing is make sure that the display is good.
  18. There's a lot of experimentation currently with arduino and using the Vectrex to simply display graphics rather than calculations and processing. Not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
  19. Until someone starts making them, there aren't any. So many people are looking for just the overlay. That why only the most expensive sellers are left. Vectrex is really a collectors market where it doesnt make sense to collect cart only especially when there were so many buyers who never threw away the boxes. The alternative is to make your own with transparency film and self adhesive lamenating sheets. The color is not that vibrant but it's inexpensive.
  20. I wish there were subtitles. The situation and my high German only let's me understand about half of what's going on or said.
  21. What works looks nice. Can't wait to see what the gameplay is like.
  22. Packrat only recently started selling these games again. These are older version of the ones currently sold. The ROMs are the same, just depends. There might be a few people willing to pay a little more because of the particular version but none are rare.
  23. Unfortunately, all of the games except for Protector LE are or will be available new from Packrat for much cheaper. Ebay would be your best bet to the money you want from them.
