  1. John Donzilla told me that he had been given a complete working binary several years and you can see a dedicated cart in Martijn Van Weltings collection. There are also probably 3-4 fully working prototypes out there as well.

  2. Also, from time to time, there is a Mail Plane cartridge @ $50 from South America. I assume that auction is not you guys and also buying from South America is too risky in the first place!

This would be considered an unauthorized cartridge of Mail Plane. Madtronix sells the authorize version as a bare PCB painted blue and in the future a GCE style boxed version may be available.

At 50 bucks, you could purchase the Madtronix version, a vectrex shell from Sean Kelly or Chris Romero and make your own label with money left over.

  3. Vectrex Enthusiasts are very active and supportive. New members enter all the time and every time people ask where old or new games can be found, its answered. Seems almost once a week. People are always pointed in the right direction. If you chose to buy a programmable multicart from Richard Hutchinson or Juan Mateos, you're directed to the appropriate places to download games, in addition to the ones already on the cart. Parabellum has also included most of the files with ParaJVE for emulation, so there's not really a need for a "rom set", even if they were Public Domain which none are. Even Der Luchs is not saying his stuff is Public Domain, only that you may include them.

As far as original releases go, pictures, box art and manual scans are all pretty much found together on Spike's Big Page or Vectrex World or Digital Press, so you're not really doing anything new. And unless you go to a developers website, most websites list developers websites, forums or pages for information, so there's already a great big circle of information for anyone with half a second to look for it. So, a big shareware file of information and files that other people made available and you copied to distribute for yourself isn't providing anything new or useful.

If you would like to provide a useful and innovative service to the Vectrex community in which you don't have to ignore the naysayers, then you can do as previously suggested and just contribute pictures, information and links to the Vectrex Wikia to make it as complete as possible and make it a one stop source for Vectrex information. Not a soul will discourage you from that.

  4. I am all about noble causes, I've been involved in several relating to the Vectrex - Manual2 Project, adding entries to the Vectrex Wiki, creating websites to inform, and working on the Definitive Guide to the Vectrex. You have a noble endeavor. However, the difference between Public Domain and private use is a hot subject. Some developers like Chris Tumbler have been trying to get their material removed from these public sites for years. There's a huge misinterpretation of the developers intent which also includes the original "vintage" games.

I present an issue to you. Should you be unable to contact a developer, will you assume the wish is that you propagate and redistribute the material as if it was their wish?

  5. Pole Position is a tough one. I've been trying to get a copy of Polar Rescue CIB and seller want Mint CIB prices for missing manual or overlay and beat up boxes.

Sometimes games pop up on Game Gavel. Rick Weiss had a copy of Pole Position he was trying to sell.

These files are better than scans.

YASI is a game. Yet Another Space Invaders. It was paired with Protector and released by Classic Game Creations but was programmed by Alex Herbert. http://vectrex.wikia.com/wiki/Protector/Y*A*S*I

While a little on the expensive side, VectrexMad's YASI overlays were so because they were made in so small a run. In addition, they are not inkjet transparencies and lamenting sheets. They are professional screen printed overlays just as the originals were. I've done plenty of the inkjet method and they are no where near the quality and color that screen printed ones are.

  7. Edward got completely out of making them.

I garauntee that if you do a screen printed run of just about any overlay, you'll sell them all. minestorm is still one of the most requested overlays and the prices for originals still garner around 25-30 bucks. Pole Postition, Star Castle and Polar Rescue are also in high demand. I think it'd be cool to have original designs with alternative colors. There are also some homebrew games that overlays would sell well such as the popular Protector, which needs an every-mans overlay. VectrexMad just did a run of 50 plus YASI overlays and sold out in no time. War of the World might be a good one too. It's still in production, a nice game and Gliptitude has been wanting to get one made for a while. We worked on a design together.
