  1. That's what Starfire Spirits was supposed to be.
  2. http://tbone1892001.wix.com/vectrex-ports I have made a website based on the discussion in this thread. Jason, I see that Nebulus, Marble Madness, Gorf and Sinistar were all on your list.
  3. I didn't read the question specifically. I see you said this year or last. Vectrex has recently had a huge boom in homebrew. There as many as 6 games announced a month, however only a few public roms have been released so far. Stramash Zone is probably the most anticipated game. I'm looking forward to Nagoya Attack and Beamrider though and Vector Patrol is supposed to be awesome as told by the gametesters.
  4. Its pretty unanimous that Vector Pilot is considered the best homebrew title for the Vectrex, however Protector, Thrust and Gravitrex are all highly thought of.
  5. This is the New Golden Age of Vectrex Development. I've seen more people emerge within the last few months than in the last several years and we need it. Who is still developing from all the past generations? Chris Tumbler, Manu, Alex Herbert, Clay Cowgill, ect have long stopped. It seems as though Martjin Wenting and Alex Nicholson are done, John Donzilla recently retired and how much longer is George Pelonis going to be doing it? With the dozens of new people making games that seem to be coming out 2 or even 3 a week, there just might be more of a need for shells than ever in the past. While I respect your desire to not fund the competition Sean, I do have a few arguements. How often do you list Multicarts anymore? Are you intending to make them available again soon? I haven't seen you sell any in quite some time. Whether or not you want others to make Multicarts, they still are. If they really want them to be in original or original style shells, they will get them. And if not, then the gamer will get them, but really your just making it more difficult on the enthusiasts in the end. Isn't the spirit of gaming what you were focusing on the beginning? Is there anyway to keep people from buying other multicarts? Is there anyway to inform them that your Multicart may be better than another BEFORE they buy it? People are going to buy them even if it may be of less value, less functionality or less quality (and I'm not saying anyone is better even though I have tried them all). Why not sell them carts, and at least you'd be getting a cut of their sales which is more than you get now? It's a win-win for you. Easier and cheaper to get carts made because you have more people buying them from you, you get all the profits of yours and something from theirs and it helps out the gamer all around. Maybe then we can see cart shells in all kinds of colors. Here's the flip side Sean. Say some one else gets a mold made. Not only does it make it more difficult for you to get carts made because now developers are divided but also there's competition which means that it some, maybe even most, are going to go with either the cheapest or the one who offers more value. Then, someone is going to lose out. My suggestion is to you, is to open another group buy, take orders from everyone including other Multicart developers, everyone who couldn't get in on the first group buy, maybe even make this a color run, and make it all cheaper than it would be for making a new mold, or scraping together a few people whod be interested in a color run AFTER someone else grabs Multicart developers and people who'd be interested but got in on 5-11under's group buy.
  6. By the way, there are a number of people who have surfaced just in the past 6 months in the development scene. Der Luchs, Juan Felix Mateos, Martin White, Chris Malcolm, James G Watts, Chris Parsons, Richard Chadd, Alex Kazik, Michael Simmonds and SBY Devolpments just today with a game called Vectrexagon.
  7. Unfortunately, Revival Studios has been unresponsive since the beginning of the year. Ive sent 2 inquires about games and never heard anything. Packrat Games is bring John Donzillas games back but unfortunately they and Kristoff were among the people who ordered from the last group buy. That does not mean they wouldn't be interested in more though. Maybe some sort of future insentive can be made for future purchases for people who make this mold happen?
  8. Recycledgamer.com is selling Repro Light Pens again. They're avAilable on Chucks website and eBay.
  9. Gooddealgames.com carries it.
  10. They are a simple solution and a cheap at Goodwill or other thrift stores.
  11. I bought all of them but I think I like the Scramble wrap best.
  12. The Vectrex community is looking forward to Packrat's involvement since a small bulrb was discovered on your homepage. Check in at http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/board/20/vectrex sometime.
  13. I was thinking about designing "sprites", mock screenshots and overlay designs for some games in hopes of inspiring someone with coding abilities to design a game. They have applications to import vector images to code, so Id be helping in some way.
  14. Theres always people crying out for a game that's already been ported the Vectrex. Discs of Tron has been done, breakout has been done, a vertical shooter has been done, half a dozen card games have been done. What started out a place for original ideas sure did turn into a place for people saying ports theyd like to see done. However, after 40 years of gaming and what maybe thousands of companies there aren't that many truly original game ideas left. If you do think out of the box, someone inevitably states "That's just like this game for arcade, Game N Watch, Atari 2600, etc,"
  15. Well, Mail Plane prototypes have been around for years, as have Dark Tower, Tour de France and Pitchers Duel which have been released to the public for several years. So far, I don't think anyone has discovered a 3D Pole Position prototype. Digital Press Online Rarity Guide lists it under Rumor Mill with several other games that little is known of other than the title.
  16. George really should offer his own multi-cart. I don't believe it would hurt the value of any of his limited edition games and would allow more people access to play his previous works.
  17. The Tron Prototype was an April Fools joke. Just 2 videos spliced together. If you look, the Tron part is much wider than the Vectrex welcome screen.
  18. Vectri are on craigslist all the time for decent prices.
  19. I'm not sure anyone has received Hellhole and the few people who have received Warrior seem to be very hush-hush. I do have some very rare games though.
  20. You always have nice reviews. I like the humorous side of this one. Are there any Vectrex games you'd like to review but do not have access to?
  21. The problem is that you can't find something deep enough to hold a cartridge AND wide enough/ tall enough to hold the overlay AND not have to pay like 10 bucks a unit. The idea is to keep it cheap otherwise you might as well just buy CIB. I have thought about making 3-6 piece designs that you could print on sticker paper and put on the clear vectrex protectors such as sold here http://www.retroprotection.com/Vectrex-Box-Protectors-7-Pack-097.htm or Ebay.
  22. Overdrive was discontinued January 18th. Fury won't be accepting any more orders and will more than likely never make them again. There are/will be over 200 of them made though as George finishes all his orders, so chances are good that they'll pop up on ebay from time to time. Alternatively, you can modify at 2600 paddle.
  23. I got the cases from ebay but brodart.com has them cheap too. Sometimes goodwill/thrift stores have them for like a dollar but its best if you can find them without the tape hubs. The foam can be found in a number of places by looking for packing material, used foam, re-purposed foam, foam sheets, etc. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FPACKING-FOAM-12-BY-11-1-2-BY-1-2-thick-15-SHEETS-%2F161118554463%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem25836a095f You could also use anti-fatigue/foam gym flooring such as sold at Harbor Freight, Walmart, Sport Authority, etc. http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-anti-fatigue-foam-mat-set-94635.html
  24. VHS cases, even Disney Style clamshells, are too small to fit an overlay though I could design it to fit any size, its all vector graphics.
  25. Yes, signed and numbered. Press Button 1 and you get infinite lives in Tsunami. I don't what other differences there are, I neither own the manual or the standard edition.
