  1. What the hell did you expect? Castlevania is a 2D platformer. It was born that way, and polished to perfection over several generations. And now suddenly all that greatness was thrown away for a totally new 3D style. Naturally it sucks. As said by the first poster, the 3D game is repetitive boredom. Not even as interesting as a Zelda dungeon crawl.
  2. However, Rez is not a 2600 game. Does not qualify. No shit Sherlock. That's why I said "Modern:" before listing Rez. READ. And I listed RS Volleyball which *is* a 2600 game. READ before you criticize other people.
  3. Why so picky? I'm just thrilled to be able to play Masks and Zelda 1/2 for FREE without having to shell out ~$50. Of course the textures look like crap. It's an N64 game. What did you expect? The demo includes 1 dungeon, a castle, 1 island... and that's it. I doubt it takes much room on the disc.
  4. Nope. Boring. I need a purpose... not just zoning out. That said, I guess the most "zen-like" game I have is RS Volleyball. The quiet sound of the ocean surf is very relaxing as I smash the computer. Modern: Rez (for me) Rez Vibrator (for my girl)
  5. And -10 stars for not having backward-compatibilityYeah, not being able to N64 cartridges in the mini-DVD based Gamecube is really killing it in the marketplace Strawman argument. I wasn't talking about the market. I was talking about my own convenience of being able to play SNES and N64 and Cube games on a single system. -10 stars because I can't.
  6. The FMVs are lo-res 320x240 but the battle screens are hi-res. What's R4?
  7. (see subject) For me it was H.E.R.O. I didn't even know it existed! I was a huge fan of Atari, Commodore, and Activision. How on earth did I miss this cool game??? I finally discovered it in 2002... 18 years after release! The other is Final Fantasy. I'd nevr heard of this game until I saw the FF10 commercial. It was the sexy girl that caught my eye.
  8. Where's the Intellivision 35-in-1? I don't see it on that website.
  9. How can you connect an RCA phono plug to an Antenna jack??? On my 3 VCRs, that would not work, because they have the large coaxial jack.
  10. FF belonged to Squaresoft. Square grew tired of Nintendo dictating what the game should have and/or re-writing the scripts to remove adult themes. So Square moved to Sony where no such restrictions existed and a game like FF7 could be released without Nintendo censhorship. I doubt Square will go back to Nintendo's heavy-handedness. The only reason FF: Crystal Chronicles exists is because Nintendo forbade Square from touching the Gameboy... unless they also developed for the Cube.
  11. And -10 stars for not having backward-compatibility so that changing systems to play older games is not necessary (like PS2 & Atari 7800).
  12. The GC was purple-only when released. And the reason I prefer black is because of DECOR. I guess you don't care, but to me it makes no sense to buy a bright blue stereo. Or a yellow TV. They don't match the decor of my living room, and look garish. Same applies to consoles.
  13. Mask looks the same except for some disc-loading pauses. Ocarina looks cleaner, because they boosted the resolution from 320x200 to 640x400. No more pixelation. However, the textures and fog is still exactly the same, because it is still the same rotuines/engine. I think I said it before, but to repeat: I think Ocarina looks *beautiful* now that they've eliminated the jaggies. Nintendo should do the lores---->hires boost for ALL its old games. Ditto Sony. (Actually, Sony put in a smoothing function that helps eliminate jaggies from PS1 games. Good deal.)
  14. Like I said before, if Link to the Past goes for $40 even though it's ~10 years old, then I'm sure the Zelda Collection could get the same price. Anyway, I looked up these prices from amazon: ----- NEW USED LOZ $35 $14 Z-2 $39 $6 OOT $46 $14 MM $33 $20 ======== all $153 $54 That Zelda Collection disc is valuable. On ebay... ~$50.
  15. Sure games use megabytes. Ocarina/Masks are each 256 megabit cartridges. Divide by 8 = 32 megabytes of ROM. And, I'd forgotten the Cube only holds 1500 megabytes... so tiny!
  16. Yes you can. It has a magic technology where you wave your hand in front of the monitor and it's just like the actual arcade controls! Mmmmm..... someone needs to adapt that technology for playboy.com. I notice this collection doesn't include arcade ports like Ms. Pac-Man or Phoenix. "Tis pity.
  17. (see subject) I was surprised to hear that PS1 could use a hi-res mode, and now I'm curious to know which games make use of it.
  18. Yeah, Ocarina looks *beautiful* in hi-res. That's my favorite. But still, I had planned to sit down and watch the "bonus restrospective movie" while eating my lunch... and instead I just saw a quick 3 minute commercial. Disappointing. And then I thought, "Maybe there wasn't enough room on the disc" but that doesn't make sense. 32 megabytes each for Ocarina/Masks + maybe 4 megabytes for the old NES games/emulators... that leaves [~1400] megabytes for a movie. Plenty of room. BTW, I can see why Nintendo decided to gives Masks away for free. It doesn't run quite right. Whenever Masks loads data, the music seriously slows down.
  19. I had read that the Zelda Collection includes a couple bonuses, like a "Zelda Restrospective Movie". I thought it would have interviews with the programmer/creator of this wonderful series with maybe a history of the game. Nope. It's just a stupid 3 minute commercial with random screenshots. What a ripoff! Yeah I know, it was free, but in my opinion the description was mis-leading.
  20. I don't understand the purpose of the Buy-It-Now price. I'd rather let the item sit in auction and see how high a person will bid. As for the $9 price, I've sold stuff that went as high as $300 from that price. I was happy with that result.
  21. (shrug) I rarely buy anything. I don't bid in groups.
  22. I have delivery confirmation, so I know it was delivered. But the buyer claims he did not receive it, and he demands a $100 refund. He says if I don't, he'll contact paypal/ebay and get me suspended. Should I be worried? I know when I ordered from amazon.com, and my package disappared because it was stolen, amazon did nothing. No refund. So I figure I can follow the same policy with my buyer.
  23. IMHO, any color other than black screams "kiddy!" to me. I have a black TV. A black VCR. Black stereo, black speakers, and black/gray computer. Even the Atari is black... all stored in a wood entertainment center. And right in the middle I have a purple Cube. It ruins the decor and sticks out like a sore thumb. (The same is true for other colored consoles like N64 or PSone.) I prefer the black-colored PS2 and Xbox.
  24. If Nintendo can sell the old Super Nintendo game "Link to the Past" for $40, I'm sure they could charge the same for a Zelda 4-game collection. Gamers would (and are on ebay) pay $40 to get this disc.
  25. (1) Attach RCA-to-coaxial plug to end of 2600 cable. (2) Plug into TVs "ANT/antenna" jack. (3) Plug power cord into 2600. (4) Insert cartridge. (4) Turn on 2600/TV. (5) Set channel to 2 or 3 or 4. At this point you should see a picture. If not, then your 2600 is probably dead.
