GameCube games - Ikaruga, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine
RCmodeler replied to Room 34's topic in Auction Central
Thanks! I've been looking for a cheap copy of Ikaruga! Don't know why you're getting rid of Luigi's though? It was a fun, fun game. -
Beyond Good & Evil ... Better than Zelda!

Cube is still ~500,000 units. It's sad, because I consider the Cube to have a MUCH better software library than the Box. -
Beyond Good & Evil ... Better than Zelda!

Both good and bad. It's bad that such a great game will sell poorly and we won't get any sequels. Good because it only cost me $10! GRAPHICS: I don't know about PC/Cube, but the PS2 version has the best cel-shading I've ever seen. Usually when companies make these multi-console games, they optimize the graphics for the PS2... the Cube/Box just get inferior ports. -
I like adjustable difficulty. I don't understand why modern games like Zelda or Ratchet & Clank only have one set difficulty. Where's the replayability? With old 1980s games, you could at least go back and play again with Invisible Invaders or Zig-Zagging Asteroids... thereby challenging yourself again and again. Anyway, that's what modern games need: Difficulty settings.

I LOVE this game. Is there going to be a Part 3? I hope so!

Got another bidder trying to use a credit card :-(

Good point. -
Well maybe not "better" but definitely more variety. Where Zelda is basically the same thing over-and-over (enter room/open door/enter room/open door), BG&E has a lot more variety in its environments... and also much more details. BG&E also found an effective way to make sailing FUN. No boring minute intervals where you can go to the bathroom, eat dinner, come back... and still nothing interesting happened. And finally, I'm really digging the story. Sneaking around in secret meetings... spying on the government... much more interesting than the usual Good vs. Bad deal.

Got another bidder trying to use a credit card :-(
RCmodeler replied to RCmodeler's topic in Auction Central
In essence you're saying that "Paypal Personal" accounts don't count as real accounts. Obviously I disagree with that notion. I suppose I should get rid of the paypal logo. I doubt there are many people who would be upset about mailing a check. -
Colecovision?!?!? Yeah, I'm sure the ladies look really sexy in 16 colors. I remember downloading nudity on my Commodore=64 and looking at the green-skinned ladies and thinking to myself, "This isn't even worth looking at." It wasn't until I got my 4096-color Amiga that I finally saw some decent-looking nudity. Soooo... this new internet version is in glorious multi-million color mode.

Got another bidder trying to use a credit card :-(
RCmodeler replied to RCmodeler's topic in Auction Central
Oh. Well, I'm sorry I just don't want to spend the $1 fee. I agree that it's easier, but I'm trying to make money. It doesn't make sense to spend what little money I make off ebay on credit fees. EDIT: I guess I have no choice. I have to upgrade to keep the customers happy. Grrr. Damn credit card fees. . -
Remember classic Breakout from the 1970's? There's an updated version on the internet that replaces the black background with pictures of attractive women... al'naturale. I can't post the link though because underage kids might see it, but you can always go to the lemon64.com forums and find it for yourself.

Just got Ikaruga and Super Mario Sunshine today... sigh...
RCmodeler replied to Room 34's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I agree with your assessment. Sunshine was not any fun. It sounds that we like the same kind of games, so let me share with you the games *I* liked: NINTENDO64: Mario 64 (you can always try before you buy with emulation) Banjo-Kazooie (ditto) GAMECUBE: Luigi's Mansion (2.5D platformer) Super Monkey Ball 1 or 2 (think Marble Madness) F-zero (racing) -
"PLEASE NOTE: I accept paypal, but not credit cards. Only Paypal CASH payments. Thank you. :-)" Okay no big deal. So I told the person that they can paypal me by transferring money straight from their bank account. Also, I take cash, check, or money order via snailmail. The person claims he DID pay straight from his bank account, not credit card. And he says that he doesn't mail checks. Hmmm... doesn't mail checks. That's odd. How can you pay your heating, phone, and other bills without mailing checks? I suspect he's just trying to get out of buying the game.

I found the alternative to eBay for videogames etc. !!!
RCmodeler replied to CPUWIZ's topic in Auction Central
Brand-new = no visitors = poor sales. I might try it once just to see what happens. I need to get rid of this BMX XXX game. -
I don't mind mistakes unless they cost me money. This mistake cost the Seller ~$2 in Ebay fees + time wasted.
-
NO GAME IS INCLUDED. NO GAME IS INCLUDED. Yes, it's clear. Your bidder is just a dumbasc. Leave negative feedback so the bidder will learn to read next time. Actually, first I'd try to get the guy to pay you. It does not matter that he mis-read the auction... he's now under contractual obligation to pay you. EDIT: I see he already paid you. In that case, I agree with the others... cash the check, pay yourself for Ebay fees, and then refund.

Yeah, but it was my FIRST Canadian ship. I didn't know it would be more expensive. If I had known, I would have followed your advice.
-
No the fault was that CANADIAN who chose to ignore my "U.S.-only" warning on my auction. The $10 ship was perfect for U.S. buyers and media mail shipping. If the stupid Canadian had followed the rules, and not bid, I could have sold to an American instead and not lost money. Also, I found it to be very callous that the Candian was not willing to just hand over an extra $5. He paid $15 total. It cost $20 to ship. He could have been more generous... after all, he got about 20 classic books in flawless condition. People complain about high shipping costs, but if they accidently get a good deal, then suddenly they don't want to pay up.
-
Of course not. The people on this forum like to bitch & moan about "excessive" shipping, but when they get cheap shipping, do they say, "Ooops, you didn't charge enough. Here's an extra $." Of course not. Like when I shipped a box of sci-fi books to Canada. Sold for $5. Ship=$10. But it cost me $20 international!!! I asked the buyer to chip in an extra $5 so I would not lose money. He ignored my email. I like this guy.

http://ffcc.nintendo.com/prelaunch/index2.html This page shows off a demo video of four people playing the game. One screen displays the action that is taking place on the television screen. And by clicking a button on the left of the page you can view what each Game Boy Advance is seeing as the video is playing. Each SP is also accompanied by a short description of what that person has on their screen. It's really fricking cool. . Still... NOT IMPRESSED. Now that I've actually SEEN the Gameboy screens, I'm not impressed. I like the idea of having 4 player RPG, but I view the map/radar screens as just a gimmick for Nintendo to sell ~$400 of GBA/link cables with each copy of FF: Crytal Chronicles.

pitfallaimee: Thank you for the criticism, even though I did not ask for it. Let me give some constructive criticism for you: If you were in charge of a store like JCPenney or EBgames... or a website like Amazon.com or Ebay.com... they would be bankrupt by the end of the year. Your "I will sometimes lose money" policy does not work in business. It's good for the customer, but bad for you. You have to make a profit, and your policy does not achieve that goal. You would drive those stores and websites in bankruptcy. ASIDE: I just tried to purchase FF10 from amazon.com. Their shipping rate? $4.99. Virtually the same as what *I* charge. I suppose now you guys will say amazon.com is ripping people off.

You will receive negative feedback if you use a credit card.

I agree that AtariAge has better coverage of Atari games than Digital Press. However, I still can't figure out why you don't just lurk or only respond to "coverage related" threads. In your past 200 or so posts, only 4 of them are in Atari threads. There has to be more to the reason than simply coverage. I'm bored. You make a good point though. I should probably stop posting here except for Atari-specific questions. I think I'll take your advice. -

RCmodeler replied to RCmodeler's topic in Auction Central
It's the Atari coverage. Digital Press is okay, but it's a poor substitute for Atari Age. I would miss this place if I left. -
When you go to EBgames or GameSpot or Whereever, YOU pay their bills. You pay their advertising. You pay their heating bills. You pay their labor wages. You pay their stolen goods. You pay the cost-of-the-game PLUS the bills. Why should I run my "business" any differently? It costs me money to buy an envelope. To ship. To advertise on ebay. To pay ebay commisions. All of these take money out of my pocket. If EBgames, GameSpot, and other stores can pass their bills onto the customer, than so too can I. THAT'S the part that you do not understand. Everytime you step into a store and buy something, you are paying the store's bills. And there's nothing wrong with that, because that's how the stores stay in business.
