How come you don't own an X-box? (Why?)
RCmodeler replied to RCmodeler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Your message severely confused me. I kept wondering, "Why is this guy saying 'thou' instead of you? Is he a Shakespeare major?" And then I realized, you were saying THOUGH (note the correct spelling). I leave thou to thine conversation. -
What console did you have from day one?
RCmodeler replied to moycon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
None. I think paying $300 for a PS2 (or Cube or Box) when you can buy it for $200 about one year later is stupid. Besides, when consoles are first released, they don't have enough games to make worth posting. It's better to wait until there are a few dozen games to choose from. -
How come you don't own a horse? (Why?)
RCmodeler replied to PuddWakkr's topic in Modern Console Discussion
My wife likes the Horse. Especially the included Trance Vibrator. She loves that thing! Sometimes she just rides the Horse in circles.... she always comes back with a big grin on her face. Hmmmm. (dons shield and armor.... and then runs away) -
How come you don't own a PS2? (Why?)
RCmodeler replied to RCmodeler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
My PS2 is still nice and shiny because I use it almost every day. Ditto my Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo and Atari 2600. These consoles have the FUN which other consoles are sadly lacking. -
(see subject) Just curious..... ME: I haven't seen anything worth buying. Not Halo. Not anything. Maybe Banjo-Kazooie 3 if it ever comes out.
-
(see subject) Just curious..... I can't answer this question, because I do own a Cube. Or used to. I haven't touched it since Wind Waker (March) so I sold it. I just didn't like the Cube games as much as I liked the older N64 and Super Nintendo games.

How come you don't own a PS2? (Why?)

That's a myth that only PS2 fans believe Like Dance Dance Revolution MAX 2, Gran Turismo 4, Final Fantasies 10, 10-2, 11, 12, Kingdom Hearts, and on and on. . HAS THE PS2 GRAPHICS IMPROVED? Watch Final Fantasy 10 (1st generation game). Watch Kingdom Hearts (2nd generation game). There is *definitely* an improvment. In KH, the characters move smoothly and realistically (including hair and facial expressions). The voice acting is much, much better. Even the backgrounds and camera movement is more vibrant and dynamic. So yes, there has been improvement in the PS2 graphics department..... at least in the Squaresoft library. -
BFD. I buy stuff cheap at JCpenney and sell it on ebay at 2-3 times my cost. That's called capitalism, and it's how people like Donald Trump and Andrew Carnegie got rich.

How come you don't own a PS2? (Why?)
RCmodeler replied to RCmodeler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
It's about FOUR PS2s to one Cube or Box. And simply because a lot of people own PS2 does not mean it was the best. What it DOES mean is that game companies are scrambling to put their stuff on the console with the biggest audience... the PS2. So we PS2 owners gets lots of stuff that other Cube & Box owners can only wish they had. The same was true in the Atari and NES eras. Both consoles were inferior in technology, but superior in game selection. -
How come you don't own a PS2? (Why?)

Nice troll Cleopatra. However unlike you, I respect other people's opinions. If they don't like PS2, then they don't like it. (shrug) Anyway, I notice a lot of you DID own a PS2, but then SOLD it. I'm trying to imagine selling my PS2, and just can not imagine doing it. I could not live without my repeated plays of FF10, Gran Turismo, Xenosaga, DDRmax 1, Rez, NASCAR Heat: Dirt to Daytona. (Plus all the PS1 classics.) . The Cube on the other hand.... well I owned it for about 6 months, played every Nintendo/exclusive title, and sold it after I beat Wind Waker. I used the money to buy a N64 which had much better games in my humble opinion. I did enjoy Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime, but to me the rest was just boring. I feel that the N64 games were much stronger titles. Xbox... well, I've never played it, so can not comment. What I've seen (Halo) does not interest me. I don't like shooting games. . Best console of all time? I pick the Commodore=64. No, it's not a console, but it had awesome games, graphics, and sound... and a long, long lifespan (10 years). Best actual console is the Atari 2600. Primitive and yet absolutely great to play. -
The PS2 is the most popular console of this generation, with backward-compatibility to the most popular console of the last generation (PS1), and has the widest variety of games, and SOME of the best/most unique games like Final Fantasy, Grand Theft, RC Copter, Gran Turismo, Rez, Ico, Dance Dance Revolution, and so on. Seems to me that an avid gamer NOT owning a PS2 is like someone shooting themselves in the foot. So how come you don't own one? (Just curious.)

Wouldn't it be easier (and better) to just play the PS2 version? The PS2 version has more processor power, double the resolution, and is virtually flawless in emulation. Why waste time with an inferior Cube GBA Player version?

OK cool, but the old 1980s Activision games do NOT use stereo in any meaningful way. It would be pointless to add that capability.
-
I like DK Junior. And Donkey Kong, like the original poster said, was very good graphically for a 2600 cart. I think you guys are just expecting too much from your old primitive Atari. I doubt a modern homebrewer coul do any better.
-
Stereo? From an Atari game?!?!? What would be the point? The Atari just goes "beep" and "boop" anyway.
-
According to ebay rules, the seller can charge $6 per cart * 70 carts = $420. That's the amount the seller disclosed. That's the amount the buyer agree to. Therefore no rule was broken. And I agree with the earlier poster who said, "The bidder made an assumption and now he got screwed. It's the bidder's fault for not emailing and asking." I agree 100%. You shouldn't make assumptions. I often receive complaints, "This video is not wrapped in plastic," to which I reply, "No. I did not say it was. I said it was LIKE new... not sealed new. Don't make assumptions. Send an email and ask." Buyers/customers often make stupid assumptions. I have to deal with them at JCPenney every day, and they always jump to wrong conclusions. "You'll charge me for shipping!" "Uh, no, I did not say that. Stop putting words in my mouth lady." (That's what I think... I don't say it.) In *this* instance, the buyer made the stupid conclusion that the seller would give away his carts for almost no charge. Bad Conclusion.

I was just looking at a bunch of "VGA adapters" to connect [email protected]/Box/Cube to your computer monitor? Are these things really worthwhile? It seems to me that my 27" TV with Component cable already produces monitor-quality picture... that should be good enough.

Those numbers and the "60 million PS2s shipped" number are both worldwide stats. I'm only interested in U.S.+Canada numbers. Last I heard, PS2=40 million in North America. Anyone have confirmation?

Me... I'd like to see something similar to http://www.atariguide.com because I find that to be a very, very good refence/ino site.

Well, since most Gamboy players are kids/teens who have never seen A Link to the Past or Yoshi's Island, Nintendo could care less. These "old games" are brand-new to most of the GBA owners. Think of these old games like Gilligan's Island or Star Trek reruns... old to us, but constantly bringing in new fans among the <20 crowd.

I found this article, "Nintendo unveils GameCube. Can it face the competition?" in Newsweek, September 2000. Anyway, it included these stats: Millions of Units Generation Console ----- 30.0 8-bit Atari 2600 (source: Digital Press) ----- ??? 8-bit Nintendo ES ??? 8-bit Sega MS ----- 24.0 16-bit Super Nintendo 14.2 16-bit Sega Genesis ----- 15.0 32/64 Nintendo 64 27.1 32/64 Sony PlayStation ----- ??? 128-bit GameCube 3.0 128-bit Playstation 2 5.0 128-bit Dreamcast U.S. & Canada statistics; Sources: Nintendo, Sony, Sega . If anyone has updated info, please share!

Gah!! Why do they always screw it up?

OK. Then why does paypal do it? When people pay me with a cash transfer, it costs nothing. If they use a credit card, paypal charges a transaction fee. How can paypal violate the law? I suspect no such laws exist. Else, why would some gas stations have different prices for Cash & Credit transactions? I don't think any such law exists. . Anyway, I see nothing wrong with asking the bidder to pay paypal's credit card fee. Or like I do, simply forbid credit transactions.
