  5. Actually, I think you mean Bob Roberts :-) New tube is the only way to go. I just ignore the spot on my Tempest :-) The white lines you see are from the brightness being up too high. Lower the brightness and those lines will disappear. The screen is drawn as one long contiguous line. The parts that are supposed to be visible are a higher intesity (brighter) than the "hidden" lines.
  6. Yeah Mr.Driller Rocks. I have it for the DC, and I have it for the GBA (Mr Driller2, import). I just got 610K+ on the 500M for Mr.Driller2 on the GBA. I am going to have to go back to the DC version and see what kind of a score I can get on that again. It will also be interesting to see if the same strategies work on the GBA and DC.
  7. Do not leave the game on while that dot is in the center of the screen, it will burn the phosphers off and you'll have a black spot right there. There is either a problem with the monitor itself (No Vertical or Horizonatal output) or there is a video board problem. Bob Roberts ( http://www.therealbobroberts.com/ ) has a rebuild kit for the monitor, however, if you are not comfortable working around 19,000 Volts, you may want someone else to fix it.
  8. You'll want a minimum of probably 4 dashes down the ramp, and you need to time them just right. If your timing is off, the speed you gained from the dash will be lost immediately. This is especially true if you do a dash off the upswing of the end of the ramp. Your speed should be > 155 to get the distance you need. To see your speed, plug a controller into the third port, hold down the Start button and press the X button until you see your speed in the lower right corner. You have to do this at the start of every jump if you want to see your speed.
  9. That would be a $100 bounty not a $200 one Unless of course, you're pitching in
  10. He was a No-Show. Not sure if he actually exists.
  11. The majority of Arcade games of that time used Linear power supplies. JAMMA games started using Switching Power supplies. I would recommend upgrading any Linear power supply to a switching power supply if the Linear one is dead.
  12. Open the coin door and feel along the left and right sides under the control panel, there should be two latches (some have a third in the midddle of the control panel below the monitor). Pop the latches and the control panel should hang down giving you access to the joysticks. Take a look at this picture, in it you should see the latch on the right side of the cabinet. This may not be the same as yours but it should give you an idea. If you take the back off the machine, you might be able to see the latches from the back as well.
  13. It's amazing how everyone's dislike of the xbox boils down to hating Bill Gates for starting out in a garage with less than a thousand bucks, helping create a product that has revolutionized computing as we know it, and become a buh-zillionaire for his efforts. The bastard. Sheesh. No, that would be Apple. Bill Gates got a $50K loan from his parents to start/help his business.
  14. The full rebuild kit is 30 parts. One bad cap could certainly keep a monitor from working depending on what the cap was used for.
  15. Follow the link... and be amazed :-) http://www.arcaderestoration.com/index.asp...&DATA=505&CBT=6
  16. I might know of a site.... (hint: follow the link in my sig).
  17. You can leave them plugged in, but you should always turn them off. Keeps the wear and tear down and some older arcade games can be a fire hazzard. Galaga is going to be around $600 - $1,200 generally depending on who you talk to and how good of shape it's in. This game is still very popular and still earns money. Centipede should run anywhere from $300 - $600. If you find it cheaper, get it :-)
  18. Original? They never made a 25" Galaxian.
  19. When it comes to games on the PC, what do you prefer? When you are playing a game, do you prefer to play that game in a window or in fullscreen?
  20. You mean like these? http://www.hanaho.com/products/ArcadePC/
  21. I look at it this way. It went from 0 hours of play to 9 hours of play. Most games on the GBA are not playable without a backlight. After doing the install of my Afterburner, I will never do one again as it was a major pain in the ass. Cutting the case was the worst part of it.
  22. It could be just a dirty screen. I have seen some FILTHY screens that made the game look dull. Clean off the inch of dust from the monitor and you get a nice brite picture :-) If It's not that, then a CAP KIT will fix it right up. They are easy to do, (especially on those monitors), or you can take it to a TV shop and have them do it for you. Check out my site for more info on doing Cap Kits. If you decide to try it yourself, follow the links to Bob Roberts web pages, you can order parts there.
