  1. I think its a fair price if its in good shape. Since its being shipped to you, you run the risk of it being damaged in shipping so make sure you get insurance. The problem could be a bad power supply or the board. Either problem should be fairly easy to fix or get a replacement for.

However, that is going to require a bigger house first. Here they are: Those are only the ones that fit in my "Game Room", the rest are in the garage and dinning room :-) Full Cabinets ------------------------ Defender Donkey Kong Gyruss Joust Make Trax Mario Bros. 3. quote: Originally posted by ATARIPITBULL: Does anyone know of a place with a web-site that sells arcade machine parts like Joysticks, boards, side art work stickers & ETC, my pac-man can use some work and I'd like to make it look as new as it can. I wanted to do this ever since I saw an episode of Friends when Phebe buys Chandler & Monica a Ms Pac-man and the machine looked like it was just made. I would suggest starting at my site and following one of the MANY links. Everything is categorized on the left side. http://www.arcaderestoration.com
  4. quote: Originally posted by thesimpsons69: Once I played GTAIII for 6 hours, and played Gauntlet Dark Legacy for 5 hours. Also Resident Evil for only 3 hours. Oh Hell yes :-) I used to go over to my friends on Friday night around 6pm, and I would leave at 4am, this was almost every weekend. The games we played. DOOM and Command & Conqure. Man, I can't do that anymore :-) I usually play 4 to 6 hours on Saturday or so on a Q3 server (Look for "Chainsaw"). Its the old "Ok, just ONE MORE level...", 5 levels later and 5 hours later... Wolf 3d, DOOM, and the Quake series are probably the only games that have had my attention for those LONG extended periods. C&C (and Red Alert) were close, but still no where near those games.
  5. quote: Originally posted by Albert: So, what level does the game have to be set on for entry into the Twin Galaxies' database? I have no idea what level the game I got my high scores on was set to, although I do know it was a default setting. The only change we made, besides allowing free play, was to the attract mode message. ..Al There are two options. 1) Marathon Mode. Level 5, 5 Lives, Extra guy every 25K 2) Tournament Mode. Level 5, 5 Lives Only. You may also submit a video tape of your games to me. The Video tape must show everything, from pressing start to entering in your high score.
  6. I bought the game yesterday for the GameCube and I'm sorry I did. This game is HORRIBLE!! Crappy Graphics, buggy (music quit playing), and its boring as hell. You basically try to beat the computer to the finish line. Along the way you get power ups, etc... If you go off course, then the game automatically corrects your course. The powerups are used automatically so you can't save them for opportune times, etc... I'm going to try and return it... If I'm lucky.
  7. quote: Originally posted by NE146: Of course that was on the default difficulty level (probably 2 or 3?). My new goal for the ages is to break a million of difficulty level 10. But I think I'd have to buy my own machine for that. The default depends on what version of the ROMs you have. The version I have default to 5. Versions prior to that default to 3 if I remember correctly.

  9. quote: Originally posted by Albert: No, I can sit and play single games of Robotron that last well over an hour. It's been a while, so I'd need a few warm-up games first. ..Al This I have to see :-) Next time you drive through, make sure you have enough time to play on my Robotron. I'll even put it on level 1 for you :-) What is your high score on it? If you play on my machine, I can enter your info into the Twin Galaxies database.
  10. quote: Originally posted by Albert: I am also a big Williams fan and must acquire Defender, Stargate, Robotron and Joust, Smash TV, and probably a few others someday. I did have a Joust, but I gave it to someone else two years ago to store for me and I'm not sure he still has it (he restores and sells arcade games, so he may have done the same with the games I gave him, which included Joust, Phoenix, and Gyruss). Robotron is a real danger to me, because I can sit (stand?) and play that game for hours. ..Al I'm assuming that you mean, you can play thousands of games of Robotron for hours on end :-)

  12. quote: Originally posted by GOAT Dan: A while ago, someone made a link to the official Dreamcast release list. On that release list were the 250 games that Sega said had been released for the 'Cast. I already know that Midway's Greatest Hits Vol. 2 is not on that list and Sega Swirl is on the later Web browsers, but I have heard that there are other games that were released that are not listed on there. If this is the case, does anyone know of any of them? I just went back to Sega's site and they have updated the list. http://www.sega.com/images/dreamcast/the_d...t_checklist.pdf

  15. Well, I'm up around 80 titles right now (about 1/3 are New and Sealed) the rest are used. I haven't paid over $9.99 for any of them (except for about 4 titles I bought when the DC first came out). I've also been picking up as much hardware as I can afford. I'll have to track my hardware to see what I have. I'm looking for a set of Sega Maracas NIB if anyone knows where I can get a set.
  16. quote: Originally posted by duckandcover: I'm hoping that one of the knowledgable folks here can help me out. I've been thinking about a coin-op I used to play regularly back in the day, but I can't remember the name of the game at all. The game is set during the wild west, and the player takes on the role of a train robber. The action of the game is made up of two phases. First, the player is riding alongside the moving train on horseback, exchanging shots with the train's guardians who appear in the windows of the train cars. Progress past enought train cars, and you enter the next phase of play, where the player guides the bandit across the top of the train cars, heading for the engine. Along the way, he must defeat a variety of enemies using punches and kicks. This second part was side-scrolling, and reminded me of the action of "Bad Dudes", another (better) game that I believe was released around the same time this one was. Whatever its title, it wasn't the best game I ever played, but after dropping a few quarters in it during a slow afternoon at the arcade, I found I was pretty good at it. I was just hoping someone could jog my failing memory with the game's name. This is it: http://www.klov.com/W/Western_Express.html

  18. quote: Originally posted by NE146: Man I must be out of it but I don't remember two players joining up in Sidearms at all. But then again all I have of that game is the TG-16 version, and I only had one controller with it. So there you go I should try out the arcade version in mame! yeah that's what I'll do... Check it out... http://www.klov.com/S/Side_Arms_-_Hyper_Dyne.html

It was an R-Type style shooter however when you played two players it was possible for both players ships to join together to become a more powerful craft. Can anyone help? Adam Sounds like SideArms. Excellent game. I had it at one time then sold it. I should get it again and convert it to JAMMA so I can play it in my JAMMA cab.

I think they have limits on quantity as well for some, if not all, the games. This link is for game accessories (memory cards, etc), again with free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/featu...1882925-0982401 The spring sale in general is awesome if you have kids---lots of kids toys on sale. All with free shipping. Go crazy. Enjoy!!! Those DC Prices suck. I picked up most of those new from Best Buy for $9.99.
  22. quote: Originally posted by atariman: I have the arcade game, Blasteroids. Right now it works just fine, but I'm worried about it wearing out in the future. I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find replacement parts for a good price. I'm also wondering where to find some of the parts for the coin mechanism. Many (more like most) of them are missing and I'd like to get it completely functional again. I was lucky enough to find the manuals in the bottom of it after finally drilling the lock out of the bottom coin door. I've been doing some work on it that probably should have been done YEARS ago. (lubricating the spinners, etc.) I'd appreciate any information I can get. Thanks! If you need a specifc part you can try Al Gross at (602) 254-4376. If he doesn't have it, then you could try posting a message on Usenet.
  23. quote: Originally posted by Sauron: Just wondering if anyone knows of a program similar to Cart Commander for the Mac? Well, since I do not have a Mac, I can't say how well this works, but you may want to check it out: Blue Label http://www.lismoresoft.com/ Price: $19.95 It's supposedly a Windows Emulator for the Mac. I know nothing about it, and I am NOT endorsing it in any way. However, this could be a solution until a better option comes along.

If anyone could point me in the direction of some good resources, it would be greatly appreciated. (Yes, I am thinking of doing some homebrews) GFA Basic is excellent. There is also STOS, Pascal, C and Assembler. Depending on how processor intensive your game is, I would give GFA a whirl. Its a great language.
  25. quote: Originally posted by Adrian M: As seen by my weekend shopping trips, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find DC games in stock at many major stores. I checked several area Best Buys and I report that their stock is at an all-time low. Very few games (mostly less-desirable common titles like Soul Fighter, KISS Psycho Circus, the NBA/NFL 2K series, Jet Grind Radio, etc games still remain in good supply) are now available and the same goes for controllers and memory cards. The VMU's I saw were all the less desirable green color. Other stores such as Sears, some EB locations, and Gamestop have all but stopped carrying DC games, even used titles. Check around and buy up any remaining stock while you still can. There's not much left and it's becoming difficult to find any of the rarer stuff. Some good places to check (although they are generally pricier) are Toys R Us, FYE/Sam Goody, Strawberries, and certain Wal-Mart locations. If checking Wal-Mart, check all the display cases...remaining DC games are usually stacked in with Playstation games or with Gameboy games. They are still pretty pricey, though. Another place to check are various Warehouse clubs such as Sam's Club, BJ's, and Costco...they occassionally have DC games packaged in cellophane hanging displays, but it's mostly the crap games like the WWF wrestling, Pen Pen Tricelon, Railroad Tycoon, etc. The bottomline is don't overspend, but buy anything you think you may get a good profit on later. I agree, they are drying up very quickly. I went shopping Sunday and only found 5 titles. The only thing left, like you said are Sports games or the very popular titles. I saw some not-so popular titles, but I'm not going to spend $25+ on them. I would rather get them at used game store for $12 or less. Right now I'm only buying games that are $9.99 or less.
