I am delaying the release of Cart Commander 2.0 so I can finish up some last minute changes (will fix several display issues that have been around since 1.0.0.0!). Look for the End of March as the release date since I will now have to send out a 4th BETA to make sure everything is working as it should. Sorry for the delay, but it will be worth it.

Thanks This could be any number of things, however, it's very likely in need of a Cap Kit. If the screen is blury, it could also indicate a problem with the Flyback. A Cap Kit is easy to do, and cheaper than replacing the Fly Back. Word of warning, the Monitor maintains a charge of around 19,000 Volts (even unplugged) and could kill you. If you have never worked on monitors, you need to read as much as you can about it or find someone to do it for you. I have a tutorial on my site on how to do a Cap Kit and it has links to other sources on how to do Cap Kits. I suggest you read them all, then re-read them again to make sure you are comfortable doing it. Its scary as hell the first time you do it (and several times after that ), and you should ALWAYS respect the monitor. I got bit by the chassis the other day while fixing a Ms. Pac Monitor for Ron. It was just off the Big CAP on the board, but it was enough to get my attention Area 51 should be a JAMMA game, so if you have another JAMMA board around, you can also double check to make sure its not a board problem (unlikely based on your description). Here is the link: http://www.arcaderestoration.com/index.asp...=3&DATA=4&CBT=3 Good luck!

I love the internet! I just found a web site (http://www.spythis.com/cca/38.html) that has a copy of a DEMO that a friend and myself wrote for Atari. We won an Atari TT030 for our efforts (wish I had kept it, but hind site is 20/20). Anyway, they have a link to a ZIP file with our demo in it! The problem is, when I click on the link, I get a DNS error! Someone has to have a copy of the file! Please let me know if you do. Here is the description: The ICBIB (I Can't Believe It's Basic) Demo by Brien King and Cory Chapman for the ATARI DEMO Contest. This demo was written in 100%GFA Basic V3.5e with the help of 74 Bytes of Assembler for the sprite masking routine. This demo takes full advantage of all the extra hardware features of the STe. Works on all STE/ MEGA STE/ TT computers (NO CACHE). Here is the link that doesn't work for me: http://crawlycrypt.chromagic.net/CCC1/STE/ICBIB.ZIP Thanks!

I sent BETA 1 of Cart Commander 2.0 to the BETA testers last night. I expect to go through atleast 3 BETAs before its official. Once the BETAs are complete, registered users will receive the final version, and 2 - 3 weeks after that, it will be released to the general public. I am currently looking at a March release.

Atari Anniversary Edition for Gameboy Advance
Arcadenut replied to Albert's topic in Modern Console Discussion
quote: Originally posted by Albert: http://www.backntime.net/Infogrames today announced the Atari Anniversary Edition for the Gameboy Advance, due to ship in March. It will include six Atari arcade titles: Asteroids , Battlezone , Centipede , Missile Command , Super Breakout , and Tempest . Single or multiplayer play is supported, and the title will include an exclusive Atari Trivia Challenge. Thanks to Back in Time for the news, and you can visit them for screenshots of three of the six games. I bet Tempest will suck to play on that. It sucks in MAME using the keyboard, a D-Pad on a handheld will probably be even worse! There are plenty of other Atari games that they could have chosen in place of Break-out and Tempest. -
Cart Commander 2.0, and Questions for Collectors

After looking into this, I may hold off on this until 2.1 as it complicates a few things since that information is normally kept as a boolean value which has two states. True or False. This will require changes to the data type and the handling of the new data type. Its not difficult, just may have a larger impact then what I want to deal with right now. Its been added to the Wish list. -
Cart Commander 2.0, and Questions for Collectors

quote: Originally posted by Muddawg: O yeah. Make the old file types conpatible with this version. K? Cart Commander supports all versions. The only two versions out right now are 1.0 and 1.1 (File Format), Cart Commander 2.0 will be version 1.2 for the File Format. You will only be able to READ the older versions of CC files, you won't be able to write older versions. This means that someone using 1.3.0.5 will NOT be able to read 2.0.0.6 and higher files. The easy solution is to upgrade to the latest version when it comes out. -

Although, if you wanted to, you could just as easily add it to your list. Just because it's not in the Master List doesn't mean you can't have it in your list. This has given me an idea for Master lists. I am going to break the master lists down into: Official Releases Proto Types Homebrew Special The code will actually allow you to have an infinite number of master lists broken down into any way you feel fit. If you wanted, the master lists could be broken down into a list per Manufacturer, but that might be a little overboard. -

quote: Originally posted by Albert: I hope so, as I would love to have a native version of Delphi for OS X. I bet Cart Commander runs fine in Virtual PC.. ..Al I could see them doing it for OS X fairly easily since they have Kylix which is Delphi on Linux. However, they probably wouldn't do it for an OS prior to that. So of those requesting a Mac Version, what OS would you be running? Has anyone tried Cart Commander in Virtual PC? As for a Linux version, maybe. I own Kylix and have played with it. After 2.0 is out, I will take a serious look at what its going to take to port it. I would like to keep one code base for both versions, but I'm not sure how thats going to work yet. I know that there are some differences that will cause me to write additional code. Has anyone tried Cart Commander in Wine for Linux? Thanks. -

quote: Originally posted by Fretwobbler: A consideration for the 8-bit cassette junkies - Box type? or is that taking things too far??? ADam If enough people demand it, possibly. Otherwise it seems a little excessive for tracking the cartridge (media). Future versions will allow for tracking boxes and at that point, I think it would make sense to have "Box Type". I'm open for comments on this one. I do realize that some games do come in different boxes such as Indy 500 with the controlers, vs. just having Indy 500 in a normal box. Is it important to distinguish between the two types? Although its not difficult to add new fields (as seen in a previous post ), however, I don't want to go way overboard either. If it makes sense, I'll add it. -

For instance, nearly all the unreleased games (for which prototypes have been found) don't have boxes. Would be nice to show them as "n/a" in our rarity guide. Brien -- I disagree about it being a useful feature to have. If you have the ability to generate a list of "boxes I don't have", then CC could ignore any marked as "Not Available". If you have a lot of prototypes in your collection (like Tempest, for instance), then this would be a nice feature to have. Same with Manuals, for that matter. And Overlays, when you add support for them (*especially* overlays, since it's much more applicable in that case). ..Al Good point. I've added it to my "TO DO" list. Time for bed... -

Adam [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: Fretwobbler ] The current version of Cart Commander does this. Do a Custom Report and it will generate a HTML page with the fields you specify. I'm considering for future versions the ability to use HTML templates so that you can customize the output. Thats not going to be until 2.1 or 2.2 though. -
