  1. Not much help, but the original brick for mine died a few years back, I opened it up... had to literally cut it open. I remember a bad transistor that I replaced to get it back alive. Granted I had to glue it back together which was not very pretty. I wouldn't mind transplanting it into a generic project box at some point and put a proper line cord on it. But they can be repaired, most of the components are regular old parts that can be had for very little.
  2. As a newcomer to 5200 myself I managed to find a 4 port locally for $75 with box, manuals about 6 games and 2 controllers, neither of which work 100%. It was listed poorly, Turned out better then I expected. Granted its going to cost more then I paid for everything in parts alone to get the controllers back up to speed.
  3. Coleco is one of my first loves. I've had mine for years now. I has support sure, which is cool. But on the other hand I need to actually get one of mine functioning again. Its not a well built as the 7800, imo. That said, to me its comparing apples to oranges, Coleco was more of competition to the 5200. I think the 7800 has potential, but it was just never fully realized. For example fire up Ballblazer for the NES and on the 7800, it blows the NES clear out of the water.
  4. I don't get the disdain for it myself. Admittedly I only just recently got a 5200 after looking for forever. It's a concept years ahead of its time, mine seems to work very well. I quite like it over the dumb slider switch boxes that seemed to be made of the absolute cheapest metal and parts.
  5. I had issue with one of my Coleco power bricks after an extended storage, I lost.... I THINK the +5v Ended up cutting it open and replaced one of the transistors that fed that leg of it, was cheap enough for sure. I came real close to putting it into a different box and putting a proper line cord on it. However meanwhile I found a Canadian Coleco setup and just went with the better power brick. The finished product is quite functional, however it looks like crap being hot glued back together. Perhaps a new "box" for the transformer would be the way to go since the original power bricks are repairable?
  6. Reading this topic this morning inspired me to shove this horrible cart in the Atari, play it for a few minutes, turn it off in disgust. Then go blow the dust off the old TI 99/4A and play a respectable port of Pac-Man. I think it was just another "get it out the door" release.
  7. I started reading about the SGM just about a year ago and found I had just missed the first run, now I come back to find out about more problems. Disappointing that Eduardo is not responding/shipping to people that already paid. I'd buy one right now If I could be assured it would ship. I'm sure he has his own problems but I think a update now and again would keep people less mad. Well, here's to hoping he gets it together.
