SVASILE
I'm pretty much buying up mostly sealed stuff right now, cheap sealed stuff!!! Don't think I've spent more then $25 for a sealed cart yet. I also keep an eye out for boxed hardware that is complete. I've been switching between platforms, right now I've been focusing on Jag and Lynx. I will probably swing back the 2600 opened boxed carts because I have most of the common sealed stuff right now.

100,500
Decided to put myself on the board once I broke 100K. I never owned this game, but I do remember playing this one on my cousins 5200. That version is closer to the arcade version, but I (like Ze_ro) found the 2600 version graphically surprising. In anycase, seeing the most recent scores being posted it looks like this one is going to be tough to break into the top 10! Go Stan!!

Well I gave the emulator a try and didn't do too bad, but I couldn't break 1:25. My first game (in over 20 years mind you!) was over the 7 minute mark. The best I got down to was 1:27 before I realized it was 3:30 am!!!! Boy does the wrist begin to hurt trying to use the arrow keys to control Sups! If I break the 1:10 mark I'll post a screen shot.

Wow, I just stumbled across this thread tonight. Sups was one of my all time favorites back in the day. I rememeber my best score was under a minute(no proof of course!), but like others have said I think it was due to luck with the thugs all being at the jail screen and with that timer glitch. It's great to see everyone having fun in this friendly competion. All my units and carts are packed away (guess I'm truely a collector!) and my original heavy sixer is still over my parents house, where I left it many moons ago! So, I don't have unit to play this on which I think this game truely needs to be done right. Playing on a PC with an emulator is not as easy as with a joystick, so all of you getting great scores playing that way I give you props! Only two days left, maybe I'll give the emulator a try anyway......

Um, I just checked out the Barbie section on eBay. Did you know there are over 30,000 items listed between vintage and contemporary catagories!!! And the prices are astonishing. Makes me wish I raided my sisters Barbies from my parents attic!!! Of course I quickly went on to the Big Jim and G.I. Joe "action figure" section to relive some of my childhood memories!!

Yeah I was watching this one too. I figured it would go to about $40-50, boy was I shocked when I saw the ending price!!! I mean rarity 6 is rare but I don't think it's $150 rare! This could have been a situation where the last two people put in a high bid at the last minute to assure themselves the win and getting zinged!! Sometimes the strategy works and sometimes like in this case it could have bit them. Of course maybe they just really wanted it!

I was watching this one too. It was at $2.50 until the last few minutes of the auction. It jumped real fast in the last few seconds!!! This guy had quite a few games posted that looked to all be in very good shape (boxes, carts, & paper products). I ended up with 12 myself. Have to see how good they are once they arrive.

Did Space Ace originally come in a box?? Every copy I've come across seems to be the "sealed in a jewel case only" version. VGLQ sells a lot of them on eBay with a picture of a box, but they are only in a sealed jewel case. There also seems to a bunch of them out there. What happened to the boxes!!??? Just wondering.

I've got two, one Atari & one Sears. The Sears unit I picked up on eBay this past summer. It's in great shape, looks hardly used. It came with all the paper work, and the box was in good shape with some minor wear. I watched the auction till the end and saw it didn't get any bids. I offered the guy the opening price of $100 and he took it.
My Atari unit is my own. It has seen better days (I played the hell out it back then!), but after 25 + years it still works!! I remember that Christmas well. My dad wouldn't by us any video system until "they make one that you can change the game you want to play". When I found out about Atari and the fact that it came with Combat (my dad's favorite video/arcade game) well it was a shoe in present for that year!!

2mil is quite a bargin for an F-18. Those babys go for around 18-20 mil. It is a little wierd that someone was able to acquire a jet like that from US inventories. US military jet inventory is normally destroyed if it is not determined to have historical value or not going to be used in another branch or wait for future use. Normally planes like that are acquired through foriegn sources where the US sold planes to. Many times when countries decomission their planes they will sell them to the highest bidder.
This guy also has this one:

He also states in this ad to watch for his "never de-milled F-16"!!!
I'm a plane nut and would kill to own any one of these!!! Too bad they don't have two seats. I'm sure plenty of people would line up and pay $5000 for an 1/2 hour to hour ride in one!!!

Here's one for you, in N.Y. this year you have to claim any purchases made online or through catalogues where N.Y. state taxes weren't collected. If you don't the state will claim an automatic amount (don't know how much though)!! I just heard of this from someone I work with, he had a letter from his accountant about it. I need to check with my accountant to get the details, but this is idiotic!!! What about the elderly person who doen't even know how to spell BROWER let alone has an online account but has to put something down or risk an audit!!! In that case I'd say come and audit me.

Hmmm...Just noticed that the new listing dosn't show a 6 switch at all even though that is what is in the description. I also see that they learned how to count and updated the number of years the system has been appreciating since 1980!!! Makes it all the more fishy, but maybe thats just me since I was once screwed on a Yahoo auction and I've been leary of big purchases ever since!

Ok, sniping has been covered but what about the seller in the first post in this thread!!! They have another one listed (same one since the reserve wasn't met?) here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3078526532
Has anyone dealt with this seller before? I only see a history of 19 feedbacks but only as a buyer. At least the pictures are of what looks to be the actual product and not a picture from another Atari site!!
For the record my strategy goes along with what others have said 1) Bid your max 2) Bid at the last second. I'm usually sitting at the keyboard when I do this, I don't use software. I'll use the proxy early on if I can't be around to bid at the end of an acution ( like when I won't be home or sleeping at 3am!!). I usually don't win those because like others have said it gives others a chance to chip away at your proxy bid.

Personally I always ask the seller if they are willing to send via Media Rate rather than Priority Mail. After all, you have to figure in the cost of shipping when determining how much you are willing to pay for a game. It makes a big difference when you are only buying one item. Of course, I also always ask for the item to be shipped in a box and add $.40 for standard delivery confirmation to track it.
As for Priority being handled better than Media Rate I think that is a misconception. Those Priority boxes get thrown around just a much as any other mailed item!!
One curious thing I been told a few times by sellers is that the USPS has changed it's policy on video games and that they don't qualify for Media Rate. Has anyone run into this? The website states that " recorded computer-readable media " meets the requirements. Wouldn't a cart be considered "recorded computer-readable media "!!!?

I got one from eBay and Yahoo asking to verify payment options. Funny thing is I've never done anything in Yahoo requiring credit cards!!! The e:Mail looks very offical and looks like it was sent from each of those sites (fonts and graphics where convincing). For fun I clicked on the link to see what they where looking for. Sure enough there was a page asking for credit card information. Be wary of e:Mails asking for information like this. Remember, always change account info directly from the site in question, never from a link on an e:Mail!

I have had problems with mail from Canada myself. I generally will not buy from outside the US due to this (no offense Canadians!!). One suggestion would be to use PayPal with a credit card, not from your checking account. Generally you are protected by your credit card company if you do not receive the item. I always use American Express and they are excellent when it comes to fraud claims. They credit your account and investigate.

I've strictly been buying through eBay since I don't have to worry about traveling. I've always wondered if it would be fruitful to hit flea markets. Where would you say you have the best luck finding things Atari, Flea markets, thrift stores, or yard sales???

Never seen an Atari 2600 described like this before.
