Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
Saldo replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
You had mentioned something along the lines of shows on the Discovery Channel, a license for Expedition Unknown with Josh agates would be awesome. That show is entertaining and schools you in history from all over the world. Josh is a fantastic host. -

Which is exactly why she wanted it.....and Animal Crossing of course! My kids loved that game on their DS and she hadn’t played it in years. I have three girls (2 are twins...when they start coming out two at a time it is time to stop!) -

My daughter picked one up last week at Best Buy, got the last one they had. She checked everywhere and finally found a store that had one an hour away. She and her boyfriend are in a small apartment with one TV and with them being on stagger work schedules right now her boyfriend monopolizes the TV to play his games and she can’t watch shows. So, she made him drive the hour to pick up the Switch! -

Yeah, that was me back on Tuesday. It probably got lost in all the VIP posts going on that day. There are so many posts here that Tommy needs to read I just figured I wouldn’t push for an answer, no big deal. I bought 2 VIPs and would like to keep the Wood Grain one sealed, which is why I asked the question. I do remember seeing Tommy mentioned that the FE editions would be sent to his office in CA and that he would need to open them to sign them. I imagine they will be sealed back up someway when shipped off to buyers. -

Those are good merch ideas. What about Intellivision/Amico branded memory sticks and SD cards? How about something really useful like a beer koozie?!! -

In 83 my farther purchased an original IBM PC for just shy of $3,000 from what I remember, and that was with his employee discount. That’s in 1983 dollars. Granted it wasn’t a base unit (the base started at around $1,500), it had a color monitor with upgraded CGA graphics card (4 color graphics!), 300 baud modem, dot matrix printer with acrylic stand, and I think 64mb memory (not sure on that), no hard drive, just two 5 1/4 single sided floppy drives. I still have it to this day. it wasn’t until the PC clones started showing up that the prices began to drop drastically. -

Well if you put out a bowling game (which I believe you said would be coming) and Yahtzee she will be all in. When we go camping she is the “Yahtzee Nazi”! Any hint of rain in the forecast and the Yahtzee game has to come out! Using the controller to roll the dice to the screen is a no brainer, just like Farkle. Didn’t quit see it in the Farkle trailer, but it would be cool to see the dice on your controller screen being shaken up and then thrown to the screen. If you do release Yahtzee then I will need to put a TV in the camper to bring Amico along. It doesn’t have one now because we camp to unplug, eat, read,.....drink! Oh yeah, and hang out with each other, the dogs, and the kids when they make an appearance. -

Yes, I remember Alpha Flight. I have a bunch of issues. A guy I went to school with (Scott Lobdell) was the writer on that book in the early 90’s. He wrote the first comic story in which a character openly declared they were gay in Alpha Flight. -

Question about the VIP/FE extras (the RFID card, signed running man card/poster & the access to get the soundtracks), will these items be packed in the box with the Amico units or will they be received separately? I received my 25% discount code with in my receipt e-Mail so I was wondering how the other items would be received. -

Didn’t P&I say Tommy would be lucky to sell 5,000 units way back in their initial video?...!!! Guess they were wrong. Ordered a wood grain and Tron...I mean graphite black units. I’ve spent over a month reading this thread from the beginning. Just wanted to say that I am a PC gamer at heart, but we do have a Wii ( for the family) and PS3 (for me to play PS games that aren't on the PC..love me some Uncharted!!). The Wii was the only system I have been able to get my wife to play. She kicked everyone’s ass in bowling! I’m hoping the Amico will get her to play again, as the Wii hasn’t been turned on in years. My kids are in their twenties and no longer live at home, and like I said I’m a PC gamer. I also want to comment on Tommy’s accessibility he has shown to the people in this thread. I did not even know who he was until I read this thread. I’m impressed by his body of work on all systems, VGL, and as a musician/composer in general. His willingness to answer people’s question (and pretty much all of them as they come up) is unheard of for a CEO of a company. I love reading his comments and how raw they can be sometimes! This accessibility also goes for the other employees of Intellivision that take the time to comment. -
any early pictures of Andy Capp's tavern?
Saldo replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I think I saw some pics of the tavern with Pong in it on one of the video game documentries I saw. I don't remember which one it was, check on Netflix. Vague I know, but I'm pretty sure pictures exist of the place. If I happen to find out which one it was I'll post. It might be time to re-watch some of those documentries again! -
Buckaroo Banzai - John Lithgow at 2:52.
-
Climber your Invaders are there. 2:15 into the video you can see them on the wall.

He never responded to my question about the discrepancy between his copy and the one from the movie.....shocker! @Jim Norris - his label is an exact match for the label posted here back in 2006: http://www.atariage....25#entry1012178 BTW, I reported him also!
-
I like the way he says to feel free to compare it to the ones in the movie. Well, if you look at the HD screen grabs from this thread: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/200550-cloak-dagger/page__st__75 clearly his label is not the real thing! His labels are rounded and look like they were cut with scissors (like someone already stated) and his lettering doesn't have the blue outlines around the black Cloak & Dagger Lettering (like Master Phruby states in that thread). I'm going ask him a question about this discrepency and add the picture from the movie to it and see what he says. He will probably state that they made several and that his wasn't actually used on screen but was a back up. In that case you can't advertise it as a "hero" prop and ask $5,000 for it!!! -Sal

Those arcades would be on the boardwalk.....
-
I am currently down at the shore in Wildwood, NJ which I have not been to in 15 years or so. Prior to that I went with the family every year from the mid to late 70's through the mid 80's. Most of the arcades I used to haunt in the 80's are still here, they just aren't really video arcades anymore! They all have ticket games, crane games that you can never win at (with Coach purses as prizes!), and skeeball. Tucked in a corner you might find a motorcycle racing game, Dance Dance revolution (not a game in my book!), some kind of light gun game like Terminator, or a Guitar Hero. They are shells of what they used to be. I did find a cool place in the Boardwalk Mall that has a room full of old Pinballs set on free play from the 60's and 70's (no digital scoring on any of them, just mechanical dials) which for $5 you get to play for 30 minutes. Anyway here are a few of them: Ed's Funcade Fascinations Gateway There are probably more but those are the ones I remember from the 80's.

I know you asked about the name in your begining posts and I haven't seen too many response about that. If it hasn't been decided yet, honestly I would keep it as "Another Adventure". I think it works.
-
As Iggy stated some game boxes are glued and that is what I was getting at. If the tops and bottoms are of the fold in type, then you are correct that they could be flattened and then reassembled without issue.
-
Thats the value I was putting them at in my mind.
-
Well that depends on if keeping the boxes in their original shape is important to you as collector. Personally I kringe at the thought of destroying an original box, no matter what it's shape. To me as a collector that is part of the history of the game, but that's just me. Yes, you could hot glue them back to their original shape, but to me that is now a restoration and not an original.
