i think atari's response would have been a lot better if they presented themselves as entering the home computer market (which is what this truly is) vs. touting this as a console-but-not-really "unconsole" THING....

So on the sandbox side of things, do you guys have any ideas for what you may use VCS for? I’m thinking an arcade stick and retroarch/mame would be amusing, maybe try emulating playstation 1 and pc engine CD... i may also try windows and city of heroes homecoming.. how about phantasy star online 2? Another neat idea would be to emulate an atari ST desktop.. I’m just gonna use it as a pretty looking 200 dollar desktop pc with an atari logo on it. I dont particularly need powerful applications like AAA games... VCS already has way better specs than the last PC i purchased (a SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR toshiba satellite). I no longer own it because somebody stole it when i was working at a marijuana farm in cali a few years ago 😛

Long live atacobox! and at the end of every message i will add posted from atacobox also i’ll deck it out with taco-themed wallpapers and possibly taco themed icons for various operating system functions? Maybe atacobox will finally make its way into business use, as a book-keeping computer for a mexican restaurant. A device only for taco-related applications.

Any playable game with a decent frame rate would be good on jaguar. Especially a game that was actually fun.

I just want to get my VCS, stick a web browser on it, and condemn it to a life of posting taco pictures in this thread.

Despite my above post i never once said this thing would actually succeed. I can see what they are going for but i doubt that many people would actually use it

My personal opinion is the VCS doesnt need exclusive games. Does the raspberry pi have exclusive games? No. VCS is not a console. Its a single board computer for homebrew and hobbyists.

in a response to those who say the Amico logo is too “kiddy” or “girly” for adults, consider this: a mature adult should recognize a quality product and good gameplay despite it’s cute cuddly outwardly appearance.

All that being said id STILL rather have an ataribox than say.. a raspberry pi. BUT, for the record, if i hadnt gotten the cheaper early bird onyx console only ($200) i would not purchase this thing at all for the price they are selling it at retail.
