I'm not sure I understand everything, but I'm happy to see my name a couple of times here. However, I saw no mention about the only cartridge I released last year... http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119218

Warning, some emulators do not emulate well this "two or one charset" setting for Graphic Mode 2. I had the bad surprise to notice that problem on the coleco emulator for psp I tested last year. Also, for no logical reason, this setting seems to affect sprites in some cases, not in other cases. And unfortunatly, the reccent versions of BlueMSX seems to wanting too much simulating this sprite glitch when it's not an effect that occurs all the time.

Free Tablespace for Homebrewers at TooManyGames Convention
newcoleco replied to ECGXChuck's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Let me help you to "bump this thread" a little bit more. Well, Since I talked with the Coleco programmers, we are interrested to accept your offer. However we still have no plan for now. We have to discuss even more about it, at least to know if someone can be there and represent the coleco homebrew programmers. So, right now, there is no plan, and I personnaly can't go there, like I said in a previous message. Give me a deadline to give you a final decision and we will see what we can do. -
I will not participate to the minigames compo in 2008, except if I finish my project CV Pentago (puzzle game). I also decided to not submit any new minigames to this compo. Why? By just looking at the numbers of votes and comments I received for the minigames compo during the last 2 years and you will understand why I'm disappointed.

Your homebrew predictions for 2008...
newcoleco replied to Segataritensoftii's topic in Homebrew Discussion
My objective this year is very simple : taking time for myself, and never rush again to release any coleco game. I'm late in so many coleco projects : - Coleco Minigames Cartridge (and I still have to send a beta version to Harvey DeKleine) - Jewel Panic (aka Bejeweled) - Chateau du dragon (abandoned) - 3D Cave (still a plan, but never coded a sample) - and some other games I forgot to mention here. My job is unpredictable, I had a rush when I wasn't supposed to, so I can't give you any details about these projects. If I manage to release 2 games in the list, I will be more that happy. For now, the speculations are the minigames for march-summer, and jewel panic for summer-october. -
I'm receiving each week a new positive comment about Jeepers Creepers, thank you very much, it's very appreciate. The only very bad comment I had about this game came from someone who didn't really played it and had no intention to buy the game anyway. You know that we drive on your positive feedback, giving us this precious energy to continue, and I thank you for that. The Coleco homebrew scene is alive. The next generation of coleco homebrewers is going more than just fine and I'm proud of this. The bad news is that I lost most of my energy during the last 3 years. I can't explain it but it's the reality. I will continue all my current projects, whatever the time it will takes, then I will simply stop. No new project for me anymore, for me it's mission accomplish. So, if you see I'm releasing a new Coleco game, it will be in fact an old project I finally manage to make.

Great job! Put me in the list. I want a cartridge of this game. April, May or June is fine for me... take your time to finish it well.

Coleco minigames in a cartridge - Who want one?
newcoleco replied to newcoleco's topic in Homebrew Discussion
No official release date for the moment. Why? Well, to not rush the project, and because I have less free time than last year (too busy at work last year to do anything, except an unfinished minigame). Next year is coming, so I'll say "for next year", without more details. Guy Foster improved his game (tweaking speed and collision detection) and decided that it was his final version. So, Space Hunter is ready. Dale Wick and I still have improvements to do on our minigames to make them great. And if you want to give your opinion about Easter Bunny before the project ends, go to the minigame compo web site, download the 4K version, and give your comments/ideas here... well, you have one week, starting now. -
Coleco minigames in a cartridge - Who want one?
newcoleco replied to newcoleco's topic in Homebrew Discussion
The project is not dead. I published a first video about the progress of this project on Youtube, almost at the same time you write your question. And I reccently published a second video named "overview" that show you the basic concept behind the final hardware and software version, including the games and bonus. http://www.youtube.com/newcoleco -
I've a Tiger-Game.com system, and I'm sure there is no homebrew game for it. And I think the first reason is because there is no emulator to simulate it on reccent computer. The second reason is not enough information.
-
For me, the Minigame compo web site still have glitches : I can't access the forum, and one of my comments for the 4K cathegory is wrong (replaced by another one). Anyway, I'm disappointed. I was waiting for your comments about Easter Bunny and I've got nothing. I really want to know why my game only deserved 5/10... please, tell me.

Playable tech demo, made with Pacific Fleet eng.
newcoleco replied to Mark2008's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Like I said earlier, (whatever the console) you must have fun programming your game. Don't program it for bad reasons like the number of comments per day you expected. I personaly have projects in progress and some are over-due. I have less free time than before. Sorry to not comment as much as you want. * update * I played and I win twice... it's more easier after the first time. Regards, Daniel -
Congratulations to Dennis Debro! The winner of the minigame compo 2007 in the 4k cathegory.
-
Yes, the forum system seems broken since the last voting period. Well, congratulations Dennis Debro for his game project : PACMAN4K... it was in my top5 but not my favorite minigame this year.
-
Thanks for your comments! I appreciate, and I will consider the new features you suggest. Last year, we talked about bankswicthing. But after concertation and effort, we manage to put the games inside a regular 32K cartridge. I explain a little bit the project in my recent video on Youtube, but I didn't spread the news too much about this video to not interfer with the current voting and comments process. Well, in this video, you will see informations and new things about the minigames Diamond Dash, Get Booty, Space Hunter and Easter Bunny. Please note that I showed the minigames project in two occasions, on Youtube, at the Arcadia festival in Montreal (NOV 9-11th, 2007). http://ca.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=newcoleco

To finish as soon as possible the minigames cartridge project, may I ask you to give me some hints of what you like and dislike in my game Easter Bunny for the ColecoVision?

Free Tablespace for Homebrewers at TooManyGames Convention
newcoleco replied to ECGXChuck's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Well, even if I can't go to this event, some Coleco friends should be able to go... so, I'm thinking now of what I could make in time for the occasion. -
I like the new version. Continue! The most important is : Have fun programming your game project! Regards, Daniel

newcoleco replied to ECGXChuck's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Thanks for your quick reply. Well, there is a group of coleco programmers in Yahoo web site, and another group of coleco users and programmers named Adamcon.org, and certainly other small groups. Ho! I like your picture with an Intellivision II game system. I think I still have my Intellivision 1 somewere. -

I think I can't go to this event... but, it looks like a great event. Coleco homebrew games are allowed too? I will talk with my friends to see what they think about this offer and what can be done in time. -
Dear Robert (Mark2008), I want to play this game. Nice graphics! Keep me informed! Regards, Daniel Bienvenu
-
Yes, go place your votes! I tried most of the 4k games... I still have to comment and votes on Vic-20 and ZX Spectrum games. ... and this time, I checked the info text files, with a friend, to make sure we read and understand the same thing.
-
Well, years ago, I tried Freeze SMS. I tried to fill up some rom to make them 16K or 32K to make them finaly works with Freeze SMS. So, if it's still same version I tried years ago, it's a size rom file problem.
-
It's well-know that's possible to put a new ColecoVision game into a cartridge, but did you see someone doing it? This is how I make it, from the eprom burner to the cartridge with label. If I have more free time, I will continue doing tutorial in video format... I think it gives a good first contact with the coleco homebrew scene.

I have a problem to simply "log in" the Minigame compo web site. I tried to create a second account but it doesn't work either. Beside that, I was surprise (not good)... why we were only two ( 2 ) to vote and comment the 2k cathegory entries?
