  1. If you still don't know for which system to program, I have a complet different suggestion for you... games for the xo laptop. the one laptop per child project is still looking for games. why not becoming one of these programmers who participate to this project. Based on www.laptop.org and a video on youtube, you can program in any languages including Flash, but Noah did a presentation about the library Pygame and I think you should give it a try. It's more friendly than programming SDL in C, but it's still SDL inside but for Python. Who knows, maybe someone here will do a game as famous as minesweeper but for the xo laptop during the next month.
  2. Did you see my video about graphics? I think it's a very good introduction to ColecoVision and other systems that uses this chipset.
  3. I saw your message, a bit late... Then, I tried to figure out what kit you talked about. Originally, each company did its own stuff to program games for the ColecoVision game system. I have a copy of a Nth copy of a confidential document about ColecoVision programming and it's basically specs about Coleco BIOS, it explains some stuff I still don't use like graphic objects utilities, and some "allowed tricks" like stoping a sound by directly putting FF in the proper ram addresses, and "not allowed tricks" like using directly the port number to access video in case of an update of the ports number... that never happens actually. The second thing I was thinking is a software as declare to be a devkit software for Coleco. I don't know the name, but it's for the Coleco Adam computer because you can ask this software to load and save things, so it needs peropherical things the ColecoVision don't have, but it runs on the ColecoVision too. I know for sure that you can do graphics with it. Then, I was thinking about Marcel de Kogel's web site because it was down at least one time this year for no reason. Marcel did his Coleco Adam emulator named AdamEm be he didn't own or try one before. and he did more than this emulator, he did more Coleco related softwares and stuff like his Coleco library I'm still using today. Then, I check my web site tonight. err... the TASM page is missing, my bad, and no one told me about that missing page too. Well, another thing in my todo list. Soon, it's the 25th anniversary of the console so I try to update my stuff before the end of the year, to be ready to celebrate. So, I'm still confuse... which coleco dev kit you talked about?
  4. Enjoy learning about graphiques modes, sprites and characters! Note : The first video is only 1 minute long and it's for all audiance. The second one is 4 minutes and it's more for programmers (colecovision, coleco adam, ti99/4a, msx-1, etc.)
  5. I tried a free dvd authoring tool named DVDAuthorGUI. http://download.videohelp.com/liquid217/dvdauthorgui.pl I was able to program a "shell game" with it and I sent the result to the author of DVDAuthorGUI. Well, after a few days, I received an answer and now my shell game is added as a sample. Based on wikipedia and other sources, there are plenty of interactive dvd but only a few are homebrews. There is "Mars Attackers" a shooter game demo to download at http://home.arcor.de/josef.braunstein/
  6. I have no idea what kind of minigame project to do for the compo. Each year, there are more shooting games, platform games and puzzle games than anything else in the top 10. My wish is more votes and comments than last year.
  7. I have no idea what my friend, the actual owner, will do now. I'm sorry, it's too late.At least we have the pictures of the console and boxed games.
  8. Yes, they will be release in a 32K rom, but keep in mind that minigames have special needs ( a special header and a special nmi function ) that cause integration problems. so, to avoid problems, a software menu with bank switching is the best solution.
  9. Don't worry Scott, these 3 selected games will be full 8K version when released in the special cartridge format. 2005 - Space Hunter by Guy Foster : actual size = 6K 2005 - Get Booty by Dale Wick : actual size = 6K 2006 - Jump or Die by Daniel Bienvenu : actual size = 3K
  10. * News (2007-05-02) * The actual list of minigames for the first cartridge is : 2005 - Space Hunter by Guy Foster 2005 - Get Booty by Dale Wick 2006 - Jump or Die by Daniel Bienvenu 3 games, 3 authors, 1 cartridge. Guy Foster is currently doing an improved version of "Space Hunter". The work in progress 8K version should be done in time for summer. Dale Wick is working on another project right now for the PSP. And Daniel Bienvenu is trying to be more active in the Coleco scene.
  11. français : Faute d'avoir d'offres sérieuses, la vente de la console et des jeux Pippin est annulée. désolé. english : Without any serious offer, this Pippin console and games auction is canceled. sorry.
  12. yes, and many codes are for sc3000 to support the keyboard, something the ColecoVision doesn't need and my tool did the "patch" for that almost by itself. that explain why I was able to barely port sokoban in one day, but buggy... anyway, good luck in your projects and continue to keep alive the ColecoVision scene. ColecoVision, 25th anniversary this year, good timing.
  13. Because I want new game for the ColecoVision, I will vote for one. I saw Back to the Future and Girl's Garden on Youtube last week. note : I tried to build a tool one time to help porting sg1000 games to coleco, but without the knowledge (never did it before) I didn't push the project to the limit, and was only usable by someone who know how to use a disassembler. So, I didn't push the porting machine project to the limit, but it gives me the opportunity to try porting some games including soukoban after a request in the yahoo forum and I give him the proof that porting the game was possible after only one day. Unfortunatly, all my ported games was buggy, no sound, and sokoban was playable only one screen. So, porting is possible, and part of it can be done by magic if we take time to build tools, but no one have time for that even if the konami games are all the same structure inside.
  14. My friend take back his Pippin stuff, so I can't take a picture of any game running for the moment. However, I added the pictures of the boxed games in a previous message here. Go take a look! And yes, it still possible to make me an offer.
  15. Well, it looks like the entire world want the 64k version filled with seven 8k games, even in Europe. Actually, the prototype is the 32K version for seven 4k games, but the final version can be the 64k version, if so, the programmers still have works to do on their minigames before publishing the cartridges. Jewel Panic (also named Coleco Bejeweled) is on the ice because I got more job to do at work and I don't think I received an answer from AtariAge about the pictures of your title screens you sent me earlier this year. For now, I can't find time and energy to continue the project but things will change for sure.
  16. *NEWS* A first prototype cartridge is done. I will receive it by mail to test it myself and improve the menu software at the same time. Of course, all the Coleco homebrew games, except at least one, can be played on a multicart. I have one of the usb coleco multicart and I already show it to the world at the Arcadia festival last year in Montreal. I showed, with Steve Begin, some new homebrew games in development.
  17. "minigame" refer to tiny size of games submited to a contest named "minigame compo". 8K Coleco games already exists, like Q*Bert, and many collectors have this game in their collection without any question. So, it's up to the homebrewer to maximize the fun in the restricted size to allow, with a software menu, more than one 8k game per cartridge. In this point of view, this project will be a big seller, but only time will decide. based on the informations I know, a new design is in discussion to support 64k eprom, and there is no proof that the new design will support a project like a software menu with multiple games. Well, if you prefer a term like "megapack" to describ a multiple 8k homebrew games cartridge made by various talented Coleco homebrew programmers because it sounds more like a big hit, be my guest. Personnaly, I will continue to use the word minigame that refer to the compo name. The success of this project is based on 3 things : programmers skills, production cost by doing or not special pcbs for this project, and the answer from the gamers and collectors. Personnaly, I think we have talented enough programmers to not disappoint the gamers so it's only a question of time to accomplish this project.
  18. Well, it looks like the majority of the programmers prefer to publish "boosted" versions (up to 8K) of their minigames. So, the list of minigames available for the first batch of cartridges is not fixed anymore. only three(3) 8k games can be burned in 32K eprom to keep the actual pcb design. however, a new pcb design will accept 64k eprom and give the opportunity to release seven(7) 8k games par cartridge... but making new pcbs cost more, and need a big demand to justify its creation. give your opinion, now! show what you prefer about this project to the AtariAge staff! (do you accept to pay more to support new pcb design? which game you want to see "boosted"?)
  19. No, the game system isn't boxed... my friend didn't got it boxed anyway, got directly from the hand of the Ethernet Support conceptor. However, it came with a bunch of CDs (PC/Mac software) used by the company who developed the Eternet support that is under the console on the picture and include here a floppy disk drive on the front. One of these CDs contain an "Internet Suite" to connect to the net. I did another topic in CCJVQ forum to sale this Bandai game system... I forgot to copy the game list here, sorry. Cool Crafts (boxed, sealed) CineNoir (boxed, sealed) Compton's Encyclopedia (boxed) Exotic Sushi (boxed, sealed) Gus Goes to Cyberpolis (boxed, sealed) Gus Goes to Kooky Carnival (boxed, sealed) Home Improvement 1-2-3 (boxed) Mr. Potato Head (boxed, sealed) Playskool Puzzles (boxed, sealed) Power Rangers Zeo vs The Machine Empire (boxed, sealed) Racing Days (boxed, sealed) Racing Days (loose - cd case with manual) Internet Suite on a cd-r I received an offer before showing the pictures here... was more than $50, sorry jbanes!
  20. First pictures of the Pippin for sale... No ebay auction was done yet... in fact, I think I will avoid this service to keep the pippin for the collectors and gamers.
  21. Hi, My friend have a Bandai-Pippin for sale. he got it first from a guy who worked on the Ethernet support for this incredible game system. This console for sale came with a lot of things like cables, keyboard, gadgets and about 10 or 15 games complet in box. For those who have no idea what is Bandai-Pippin, know first that it's American inside! For those who think Apple should release a game system, you must know the story of Bandai-Pippin. Bandai-Pippin is a game system based on PowerPC (Apple-USA), released in 1995, with futurist caracteristics and design. CD-ROM drive on the front, control buttons on the top, usb ports for the gamepads, gamepads with trackball, ntsc-pal, s-video and vga ports... In year 1996, the Ethernet support (PrimeTech-Canada) was release for this game system. Unfortunatly, the video game market situation was bad for this console developed in North America, but good for Sony PS1. Only about 20 games were available for the Bandai Pippin game system and it's your chance to have an almost complet collection. Because of his lack of games, Bandai Pippin is in the top 10 of the biggest technology flops... I will tell you when my friend will start his incredible auction on eBay. Thank you for reading! Daniel
  22. Schlange suggest playing againts computer artificial intelligence, but also againts other players. Hustle suggest randomize bonus on screen, with or without "???" their value printed. For me, it's two different games. I remember playing a game written in BASIC for the Vic-20 computer and it was exactly the arcade game Hustle. Daniel
  23. The smallest game in the list is NIM and was released in Gamepack #1. The word game "Valentine's Day" is small too, but who want to play a game with only one possible answer? There are even more missing Coleco minigames like this one : - Not One : a dice game, available in my coleco programming kit. ( original code in BASIC here : http://www.atariarchives.org/morebasicgame...ge.php?page=115 ) Daniel
  24. oops, some mistakes... Phoenix by Scott Huggins St. Valentine's Day by Daniel B. Vampire by Daniel B. Winky Trap by Jean-François... (I can't remember his name) ELDCDBPAPP Q*Bert by Daniel B. Cavern Rescue by Scott Huggins Well, I think only one of the games you mention is small enough to be a minigame...
