  1. If you plan on tossing the case. let me know. That's all I want.
  2. Forgettable? Dodge'em? really? Good point based on hours... Mine would probably be, not in any particular order, and, "back in the day": 1. Air Sea Battle 2. Combat 3. Superman 4. Starship 5. Demon Attack 6. Missile Command 7. Asteroids 8. Dodge 'em 9. Raiders 10. Defender (Original release) 11. Space Invaders (OK, that's eleven).
  3. I think this adds too much complexity and reduces the ability to act quickly. No twitch factor at all here. Yes, This. Exactly. Well, this WON'T run on a 2600 or a 7800. Did I miss something? I thought the intent was to expand the game but still playable on original hardware... Nobody said anything about coconuts or swallows...
  4. Thank you. PDP Space war is 100X better. Now if we could only drop the "SSSHHHHHH" sound of the thrust and lower it to a "ROOOWWWRRRR" sound like the Cinematronics game, and make one of those an enterprise shape, it would be Perfect. I may try this.
  5. Me too... Someone will probably read this now and either show one that has been done like Pac Man or do it. I actually played space war a lot. I loved the Cinematronics arcade game. Bingo. Once I had the C64, I never looked at consoles again until I came across a 7800 in 1993-ish at a yard sale with a pile of games including Galaga, so had to buy it. Even played with a friends NES in the late 80's and was meh...
  6. I do like how the block fits inside the duck, err, dragon, when eaten. And what's the difference between several items or several in a sack? You trippin' on the peyote? Funny thing, I sometimes see a Coyote and a Roadrunner near each other on my street. Never get the phone out in time to get a picture, however. Also, Roadrunners usually have a mouse or lizard in their mouth.
  7. The 2600+ looks cool. I just didn't care for the long bootup and game loading time...
  8. Yeah, I have an angled pocket in my Combat Box and straight one in my Outer Space box...
  9. Well, a Coyote was trotting by my front yard when I typed this, so, product of Arizona... Tsetse flies are from Raiders As for the village "wench" (Whore is so graphic), yeah, just a touch, like in Superman. DING! And then off to the Wizard (I like that too). Great minds and all. I vote for keeping the graphics fidelity within the neighborhood of the original, but it would be nice to improve it a little without going to far off the reservation. The Duck is a trademark, or perhaps a mascot maybe? I think I already said that? Yeah, well that would be funny but just bumping ala Superman and Lois Lane in Superman. Maybe type in an adult access code for more active, umm, err, Bumping. As for working to get coins to pay for things, this isn't really far fetched. Has anyone played MULE? In that, whenever you went to the pub in town, you also won some money gambling. Maybe do that.
  10. 1977 Summer Day Camp My "Classes" were: Rocketry, I still fly rockets today, albiet much larger ones. Photography, we made pinhole cameras, developed our own film, really cool stuff. Puppetry, yeah, that was kinda meh Swimming, well it WAS summer and Arizona Electronic Games- We had a Coleco Combat and a Sears Telegames with Target Fun It's also the first place I had a regular non home-cooked hamburger, Plus a coke, fries, and a bomb pop. Every Day! Tons of good memories that and the following summers.
  11. How is the selection done? Does it cycle or is there an onscreen menu? Dips?
  12. I have never seen so many 1702 monitors in my life!!!
  13. Nice Haul. Your street racer is normal. Your Starship, however, is like my Street racer, all one color. Seems to be a variant on number label carts then, too. Wonder if all of them can be had both ways. I think my existing 01 Combat is all red... The silver border looks better LOL, Small world. There were to kids trying to play the Channel F in the console area. I had to teach them how to push and pull on the controller...
  14. The dollar sign goes before the number... Anyway, I like the concept of the larger world, like @ledzep mentioned earlier, with sir block's home or farm, and perhaps maybe add energy and health gauges at the top of the screen causing you to have to go to a tavern to eat once and a while, go home to sleep, etc. Basically add depth to the game without changing the charm of its simplicity. Maybe have the game pause when you go home so you actually can go grab a beer or hit the can. Add caves for places to find things. I'm on the fence with regards to inventory. I like having to deal with only carrying one thing at a time. It really makes you strategize, but that's not realistic in the real world. One can carry a key AND a sword, but keep it simple, and maybe use HSW's method of using the second joystick to manage inventory, but also keep it limited to 2-3 items perhaps. Also, Swap the Joysticks like HSW did. I asked him this weekend why he did that and his answer was what I had postulated... It forces you to notice that something is not working right when you only have the left player plugged in. The guy is brilliant. Maybe Add a water bottle (I live in the desert, it's a thing here). Maybe have places to fill it and places you can but shouldn't or you get sick, or even die if you don't get to a village doctor in time, and you travel slower as you get sicker? And you have to pay the doctor. Maybe that shiny gold key or maybe you pickup coins along the way or do work for people and get paid (Help install a bridge, perhaps or plant trees, something simple for the player to do and easy to repeat). Also, make it rain sometimes to slow the player down. Maybe even have night so you have to use a torch, that needs fuel that you have to buy, find, or steal. On getting sick, not just bad water, but maybe a coyote that can bite you and give you rabies, or tsetse flies like Raiders to paralyze you temporarily and maybe get robbed? or maybe get an STD from a girl in the tavern? No maybe not. LOL. Depth, Depth, DEPTH! Same, Same, but different. I have Adventure II for my 5200, and I don't really like the graphical changes. The dragons still don't look like dragons. Leave the graphics alone, but yeah, for the love of God, make the hedges green not blue. And NO MUSIC, or if there is, maybe very light, if any, or you can turn it off. Perhaps just environmental noise, like birds (Crows definitely), wind, rivers, minstrels playing light music in the tavern, Anyone played Sim-tower? there are some environmental noises used to good effect in that. I love that game too. Long live the duck, but having a body like in Raiders (Can you tell I like Raiders?) could be tolerated. And while we are on the Raiders topic, the Parachute part is cool. Maybe have to jump into a pit to get something shiny at the bottom that you can just see the flicker but not tell what it is until you fall to your death or gently land next to it, and then climb through catecombs kike we already have, to get out. There is a PC version called Indenture. Video It is basically the same graphics with an expanded world. Well done. Two more castles IIRC, but the mazes are a bit over the top.
  15. Aww man! I didn't see this until today. A day late and a badge short. I've never noticed the "Events" forum here. Gonna spend more time here.
  16. I wasn't looking for these but came across them in a small booth next to the Opcode Booth, tucked away behind a box of Wico controllers. Oh, too bad the boxes weren't present, but for what I paid, I am extremely happy, and I even didn't have 12,41, 51, and 61 in any form, so I actually added to my collection. The full set of the first 9 in number label format. Are all the Street Racer's in orange like that? And I picked up the second to the last copy of this (at the show, at least.) It seemed to be the fastest moving cart at Champ Games. Fantastic port. Rivals the 7800 version. The two player team play is what sold it for me. I nearly bought this Combat console. Kinda wish i had, but I also had a box of fresh fish to pickup on this trip, so had to minimize my take at the show. We had one of these in the same Summer camp that I first played Atari.
  17. Of course. I have most if not all of them. The point of my original post elsewhere that led us here was not about what could be done now, but simply, what if just those two issues: blue background and orange maze walls were the right colors. It makes a ton of difference. It amazes me that the suits didn't just say something and change it! The orange and blue is a horrible combination. The company I work for uses Orange and Turquoise. Drives me nuts!
  18. Do you mean $20 or $40+ as in Dollars or some sort of address? Also, LedZep. All good ideas!
  19. Thank you for posting this. I would have totally tolerated this as a kid. Sure, the sound sort of sucked, but the colors were good. Yeah, too bad.
  20. It was nice to meet and chat with you @Albert. Two layers of THIS under a carpet runner behind the table will help with your feet a lot!
