  1. Hello!

I've been wanting to print off of my Atari 800 for sometime now, but I can't seem to find the right printer. I already have the MicroPrint parallel adapter. Is there a cheap parallel or dot matrix printer out there that will work? I'm a college student, so my pockets are shallow.

  2. Hello!

I recently acquired a MicroPrint cable for my Atari 800 with the hopes of printing on my HP Photosmart 6515. I made a daisychain out of the following:

microprint ~> double female parallel cable connector ~> male parallel cable that converts to a USB male ~> double female USB connector ~> USB cable connected to printer

I had no success with this setup. I understand that the printer may not of the proper components for reading the 800's commands, so is it best just to invest in a used parallel printer? I am a college student so my pockets are pretty shallow.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  3. Most likely a picture of the unit would be cool since the eBay sellers do-up the artsy pose when photographing the product and as a result I can't get an idea of the length or dimensions of the pin cables. Also photograph the numbers in the green parts on pins.

  4. Hello! I will soon be picking up a slightly malfunctioning 3DO FZ-1 from my local video game store. The malfunction is that the system only plays games every now and again, and when it does play them, the system stops reading them after about 5 minutes. I believe the laser is going bad and I feel better just replacing the part than trying to play calibration doctor 90210. My only question is which of the Sanyo 92.5 4/11 pins is the right one? Amazon.com sells only one, and there are currently two sellers on eBay, but I can't tell the two apart. I ask this since I know that one version of the laser unit has a cable that is too long.

  5. I bought the system a few hours ago. It was actually a 4 port (the photos were dark), it has the shock box and all its cables, original box/inserts two controllers, and 4 games (Joust, Pac-man, Defender, and Centipede). The seller said the said system functions normally, but that the joysticks do not work. I guess they just need to have their contacts cleaned as the system appears to be immaculate. It totaled to about $100.

My biggest issue with the Wico controllers is that they've become very scarce and somewhat expensive.

  6. Hello! I have been collecting 5200 game carts for sometime now and I feel it's time for me to finally purchase one of these beautiful behemoths to play them. I understand all the issues with the controllers and how to fix them, but I am curious of the 5200's build quality.

    1) Are there any issues with the console itself?

    2) I am looking at a two port model, what games are incompatible with this model?

    3) What should I look for/watch out for when buying?

  7. Recently, I have heard something rattling around in my light sixer, so I decided to open it up. What fell out was a small, clear plastic bit that was attached to the side of the power port. I put the piece back on (held together with clear tape) but my question is how significant is this tiny plastic piece?

  8. Take the coolest one. The chicks'll dig it!

Seriously though, if it was me I would just take your favourite one. If it gets broken then sh*t happens but no 2600 is so expensive so as to be irreplaceable... Live life on the edge. That's what i always say. :)

    PS: Enjoy college. :)

    Sweet logic :)

    And thanks!

  9. I just found out my roommates are going to be my best friends from last year. They are extremely considerate of other people's things and are completely trust worthy, so I'm tempted to say that I want to take my newly acquired Sears Video Arcade II. Considering how much I won't be home, it would suck to leave it at home.

  10. Let me know if it works. I promise you though no matter how many people say 9v should work, it did not for me. Did you try the SNES cord, that one was perfect.

Not yet. It just shipped this morning; but if the SNES adapter works I can just buy a second one. Sweet! :D

  11. 2600 junior would be the most practical. Its the size of a book. But I'm with you. It doesn't feel like a real 2600 to me.

4-switch woody is probably the way to go. Cheap, woodgrain, and I believe it fits more types of carts than any sixer would.

I'm starting to lean towards a vader unit. The all black would be easy to clean if it gets messy and since it's a 4 switch, I could just swap the case with a working 4 switch woody if something breaks inside.

  12. If you want to use a different controller, depending on the controller, you may run into an issue with some where the plug is too large to fit under the lip of the console (the controller ports don't have much clearance above them). You can easily solve this problem by using a joystick extension cable.

Is this the case with most Atari controllers or more like a genesis controller?

  13. My model 1 Sega CD uses a 10v center negative ac adapter with 1200ma. Too much? I also have a TG-16 ac adapter with 10.5v and 750ma. I think my biggest worry is the Amps.

Also, how does Best-Electronics work? Is a credit card over the phone type of deal?

  14. Hello!

So this morning I grabbed a Sears Video Arcade II off of eBay and I was curious about some of the specifications:

    1) What cartridges (both 1st and 3rd party) won't work with the system? (I heard somewhere that not all are compatible)

    2) It has no power supply, but does it run a standard 2600 power unit?

    3) How good is the system's durability? Do the controllers hold up well? Do the system's lights burn out?

    4) How hard is it to find the controllers? (the system has only one)

All comments are appreciated! Thank you!

  15. I speak from experience, I have a light and a heavy sixers in boxes here and another (mint) heavy sixer right next to my (CRT) TV.

The most I've heard about it is how old it was and how shitty the games looked. Others sometime come over for 4 players Medieval Mayhem.

I imagine (hope!) your experience will be similar.

I hope so! I plan on getting my roommates to play Warlords and experience the madness!
