  1. Yikes... I had no idea! My friends always thought that the Apple ][ was easy to program for and since I don't know anything about it, I just took them at their word. I've always thought that Karateka, Choplifter and a few others were smoothest and least quirky on the Apple ][ (as compared to other 8-bit platforms). I guess it's just genius programmers, then!
  2. Back in the day, my complaints were the obvious ones you might expect from a teenager... things that every other computer on the market had that we didn't, such as an actual graphics chip (w/animated hardware sprites & MOBs, collision detection, hardware scrolling, etc.), a sound chip... ...but... In retrospect, I think we did fine without those things. Just having CPU-driven graphics and simple, piezoelectric sound made the Apple ][ easier for people to develop for, the software tended to be less buggy and if the software tweaks were done right, other platforms had trouble keeping up (look at Karateka, so example).
  3. You can always set it up as a dual-booting system, if you'd like to. OS X is more useful for web stuff, but OS 9.xx is better for running older software. If you did the OS X thing, you might have to do a firmware update (no big deal). Either way, that's a fun machine!
  4. Yeah, I remember spotting it and thinking that it would have been neat if they had turned it on.
  5. I was pretty fond of my AE RAMworks II back in the day. It gave my IIe an extra 256K RAM and lived happily in my aux. slot. The RAM came in handy for ProTerm and Appleworks!
  6. I don't know the exact setup, but the Temple of Zuul (BBS in my local calling area when I was a teenager) ran on an A8 of some sort with two 8" floppy drives, if memory serves me... and that's a big "if"!
  7. OK... I have results! The numbers I rolled were 11 & 6, so congratulations to Bikerbob and JoSch! I will contact you both via private message shortly. I'm sorry to all who didn't get picked and I wish I had enough boards for everyone. Don't give up hope! I fell into these boards by asking around, so you never know what might happen. Thanks to all for your interest!
  8. I'm sorry for the delay, but I am having trouble finding my dice. I will have something posted soon (hopefully tonight). Thanks to all for your patience!
  9. OK, here is the list of all who have officially declared interest: 1 - tep392 2 - davidcalgary29 3 - eebuckeye 4 - Defender II 5 - rgrocha 6 - JoSch 7 - danwinslow 8 - Tigerduck 9 - manopac 10 - Frankie 11 - Bikerbob I will roll two 12-sided dice tomorrow (re-rolling any 12's) and post the results. I will then contact the indiviiduals via PM. Thanks to all who have expressed interest and best of luck.
  10. The original PSU (18w) is a safe bet, or you could use the 50w PSU from an Atari floppy drive as a heavy duty unit.
  11. Mine arrived yesterday! Woohoo! Going into my 600XL as soon as the monitor port is installed. Thanks again!
  12. Just an update to all... I decided to sell both of my Incognito boards. See Marketplace if interested. Thanks!
  13. OK... pics! Here are both of my Incognito boards. Why? Because I have decided to part with both of them. The dice will now choose two people. The one on the left has an extra bag of goodies with it... wires and things for installing it. The one on the right is exactly how I received it from Candle (you can see his name on the envelope if you zoom). Both boards and new and have never been installed, but I am selling them "as is", just because I don't really know much about them. Same deal... $150 U$D plus shipping via PayPal only. I will contact both buyers via private message on 06/27 - after I have posted the results here. If no payment has been received within 1 week (by 07/04), I will let the dice choose someone else. Everyone cool with that? Just trying to be fair and reasonable. Best of luck to all!
  14. Yeah... I have a bright red VIC-20 with a white keyboard from a 64C in it and it runs like a top.
  15. Yes, I'll try to get a picture up soon. I don't have a modern computer at home and don't know how to do it from my iPad.
  16. I neglected to mention that this is a new board that has never been installed/used and that there is a connector of some sort that needs to be purchased separately.
  17. I am officially putting my spare Incognito board up for sale. Rather than putting it on eBay and letting people fight over it, I am selling it here for the same $150 USD (plus shipping) that I paid for it. I just want it to go to someone who will use and enjoy it. If you are interested, here's how it will go: Post a PUBLIC reply to this message expressing your interest. I will keep this open for two weeks; the cutoff date will be 06/25 at midnight in my time zone (Pacific). I will then post a list of all interested parties with a number assigned to each individual on 06/26. I will determine the buyer randomly with dice on 06/27, so this will be a sort of lottery. I will contact the winning buyer via private message after the winning result is posted publicly. Offers sent via private message will not be accepted, as I want this to stay public; no secrets. Payment will be via PayPal only. You may begin stating your interest now. Thanks to all.
  18. Civilization, Elite... And there was one of those $5 games I bought at an office supply place circa 1990-1991 that I can't remember the name of, but you were a guy in a colorful outfit with an astronaut-type helmet. It was a platformer... you had to run, jump and you fired little spheres as your weapon. Captain something? Anyone have any ideas?
  19. I honestly don't know. I have two Incognitos, neither one has been installed and I have never used one before. I am a fool when it comes to soldering, so a friend of mine was supposed to do it for me. It never happened, so I am parting with one of them. That's about all I can say about it, aside from what I have already posted. I'll make the post tomorrow night and will try to include a picture.
  20. I don't know which connector it is, to be honest. The person who sold it to me said that there was a connector of some sort that it didn't come with that plugs into the board (top?). That's all I know about it. Neither of my Incognitos are installed, so I will put them side by side and see if there's a difference. I'll try to post some pics with the Marketplace posting.
  21. Just a heads up to all. I believe it's from the first production run and needs to be assembled. I believe it needs the PBI connector as well. I bought it from another user on this forum who was kind enough to accommodate me, then Candle responded to me and sold me one from the third (last) run. I had originally bought an extra one for a friend, but he doesn't seem to be interested in it anymore. I am not going to put this on eBay and watch people fight over it; I just want to sell it for the $150.00 USD (plus shipping) that I paid for it and I want it to go to someone who will use/enjoy it. I can even throw in the brand new 3GB Hitachi PATA CF micro drive that I had set aside for it, if the buyer would like it. So... how to determine to whom it will go? Simple. I will be posting the sale in the Marketplace on Saturday night (06/11/16). Post a PUBLIC reply to the Marketplace posting, expressing interest. I will wait two weeks (until 06/25/16), post a list in random order, each user name with a number assigned to it. One roll of the dice and we have a winner. I know this sounds overly complicated, but I want to be fair and honest about the entire process. I would like to keep everything public and no secrets, so offers sent via private message will not be accepted. Everyone cool with that? If not, please post. I will be open to suggestions until this Saturday night. Thanks!
  22. Here's mine... NTSC, also from the 20th week of 1983. And yes, it really is that sunburned!
