That's what I mean...it doesn't turn off the backlight. So by definition something is wrong. []

Oddly enough, I just got a Lynx II, and the backlight button seems to do...nothing. Well that's fun. []

When I got my first 800XL, there was something wrong with it. It wouldn't boot up, wouldn't load cartridges, wouldn't do anything except show it was powered on. So I got a second one, which worked except for the keyboard. Switching keyboards gave me a single working 800XL and a non-working one with a bad keyboard. Since the bad one had some pretty cool modifications made to it before I got it (memory upgrade, chroma, internal speaker), I really wanted to get it working. The guy who stepped up to the plate was joey z. I shipped him the bad one, which he was able to fix into a working state (even replacing the faulty keyboard connector) for a very reasonable price. Now I have two units working very well indeed and am very satisfied with the entire experience. I have to hand it to joey z. He's very patient, understanding, and reasonable. He's also incredibly savvy with hardware, to the point where I had no doubt he'd be able to fix whatever was wrong with it. Negotiating shipping and payment went smoothly, and now I couldn't be happier with my A8 collection. If you've got something needs fixed, you should let him know. Peace, JT
