If you want to go for ambitious goals why not make a Historically genred game based on the accounts of Herodotus? Recently I have been reading a really amazing and insane book which is the "Histories" by Herodotus (Herodotus is a Greek man who lived around 400 BCE who was basically the equivalent to the travel blogger). While some people may be thinking "Oh Ancient times, what could you possibly get out of it?", but I am sure there are many themes which could be incorporated into a game, and the stories are just incredible.
One idea could be having the player play as different rulers, Cyrus, Darius, Cambyses, and having the player go on military campaigns along with some storyline. This could be adapted using dynamics similar to Space Invaders or any other shoot'em up game, along with the weapons of the ancient times, and different obstacles throughout the ancient ruler's journeys, rugged mountains, marshlands, narrow valleys...
Or you could have a game where you are on a journey to a far away place set in ancient times but the only way you can get there is by dechiphering the replies from Oracles ([Oracle] A person (usually a woman) who gives prophecies which are often ambiguous).
Those are my ideas for you.

The Galactopus was really superb, nice animation of graphics. But it's a tad on the boring side, I find that shooting at something continously in one setting can get old, but a very nice arcade game!

I feel tempted to buy a copy, do you still have some catridges in stock. I also think I might be tempted to buy the whole series. It looks very interesting.
Do you ship overseas to the middle-east of Asia?

For a while, Hack-O-Matic ][ was the best Atari 2600 game hacking program, but then Blinky created Bit Hacker which is even better:

If you haven't tried Bit Hacker before, be sure to read the readme file. Among other things, it tells you how to hack a large image without going cross-eyed. You are no longer stuck with one small strip. Now you can see the whole image!
Bit Hacker also works with a mouse scroll wheel. If you are hooked on your scroll wheel like I am, Bit Hacker should make hacking a lot more fun.
The link is BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I know there is a game out there about that, but sorry Snider, in my opinion it's crap, I know you had a lot of enthusiasm to make the hack but still.
In my opinion, changing the surroundings to your basic forest features, taking away the usual haunted house random encounters, adding random scary sounds here and there like tress rustling and people screaming, adding just one random encounter of the blair witch, and so on!
I created this thread because I am interested in people's different variations in creating Blair Witch project Atari 2600 games. I am right now programming my own version based on Haunted House. I am adding a few graphical and gameplay style changes.
( Think of this thread as a community thread for members who want to post their horror games for the Atari 2600 )

Or maybe, you could make a game based on the Turkish empire throughout the 12th-17th centuries, or other empires near there. I think there are a lot of ideas which you can find there. Turkey, the Arab world, and Africa, have very rich histories.
